beautiful. i loved it. nice bootup. i will try it over my puppy linux install on my PII 333 MHZ 128 RAM computer. that i use as a basic home server. for my files.
lol. it still works and i hate to throw away computers i had it for 13 years. and runs goood as a file server with a 2 terabyte external harddrive attached to it :)
i mighht have to make a video to show you :) the only thing that brought this this up from teh grave was linux. puppy linux. windows 98 was slow on it :S
KDE (kubuntu) is slower than Ubuntu (Gnome). and i personally dont like KDE. it used to be great but the 4.xx versions are a bit too buggy for me and slow. it look snice, but its slower than Gnome, and XFCE is really fast. want my honest advice? dont go with Ubuntu varients. go with linuxmint you can get it as w w w . l i n u x m i n t . c o m
and under community editions you will see their XFCE version. Linuxmint comes with Java/ Codecs/ Flash and everything preinstalled and its based off Ubuntu. so you can try their Main edition (Gnome) and their XFCE edition. and see what you like bette
check out my video of ubuntu booting and visit the website to make yours the same and youll be glad you did. then please post a new video with the new results. im very interested in how much of an improvment it would make to your setup.
I used to have Ubuntu but wanted Xubuntu so i installed xfce i get all the Xubuntu stuff none of the boot up animations feels bad man.

SutkasFan 2 years ago
its an old 333 mhz RAM :) yeah it can hold it. although the only slow down is the usb 1.1 not 2.0 i might buy a PCI for usb 2.0

since you only have 256 mbs of ram i would suggest either Gnome or XFCE window managers because KDE 4.xx would work best with 512 mbs of RAM.
