Let's say that you want to manufacture some Plasme Beams for your fighters. You know the usual procedure, of course. but for this to work, start with assigning 0 Engineers to produce 0 units, and start the production. Now, like this, nothing willl be produced, of cource. This is the point where you click on the assigned task again, and order whatever number of Engineers you have to produce 1 unit, no more.
@Megatyrant If done right, you will produce 1 Plasma Beam, but will have spent absolutely NO rescources, be it money or Elerium or whatnot. Yes, it might be cheating, but if you're in dire need of Elerium, this tip might be what you need. And it is an absolute godsend when manufacturing the Avenger. :)

I usually make them all attack aggressively (wich spams Avalanche missiles on the [very] large UFO) with the mouse. Sometimes I screw up with the mouse, so they do not attack all at once and some of them or all of them get blown up, but it can be done.
Because, the real problem is to get the [very] large UFO _before_ it gets your interceptors...
Wow Yvel seems to be redeeming himself. Malkil may very well be the captain who leads these soldiers to victory. On a side note barry has yet to die which astonishes me. And I think Jutah should be higher on the ranking tree as 5 kills plus is a rarity in these videos.
I also bought X-com on steam so I could play it. Being familiar with the game doesn't damage the enjoyment of this Let's Play either, and I get to play one of the single best games ever made. Win-Win. Ultra win.

High bravery does lower the chances of soldier being mind controled, not that significantly as psi strength, but a soldier with 10 PS and bravery 70 would have some chance of resisting beeing mid raped. Because aliens succes depends on PS and morale. The higher the bravery is, the lesser morale you lose when everybody around you dies. Have you noticed, that soldiers with high PS, when paniced will get MC on first or secound try?
That's not true. Bravery does not lowering chances to "mind control attack" success, only effect of psi panic attack. Psi chance formulas does not include bravery in any form (not control, not panic), however morale after successful psi panic attack dropping according: NewMoraleUnit=OldMoraleUnit+BraveryUnit-110, where 110 is constant volume.
Anything else is pure speculations. Check the distance to psi attacking alien. Probably distance is the source of сoincidences.
Id like it if next time you name a soldier "Rocket Jockey Mc.Gee" and have him use a rocket launcher loaded with incendiary rockets! Mc.Gee is probably one of my Fav characters from your lets plays and it would be nice to see him make a comback!
Also remember to pick a soldier with high strength so that they can actually move around.
Hmm... can't you open doors with a soldier facing the door and then click the right mouse button behind the door to open it without charging in and let aliens get reaction shots at you?
Watching Kikoskia playing these xcom games is really fun. Even when he dont really play my favorite which is x-com apocalypse. I was really glad to see kiko playing this game again. :P
This game TOTALLY got ripped off by FunOrb. Ironic, I used to love playing that reskin, who knew it was just a dumbed down version of this with better graphics, animations, and...easyness....
So I'm thinking of getting this game, and X-Com without any expansions is around $5 on Steam... Is it worth paying $15 for it plus all its expansions, or is the vanilla game worth playing without them?
One thing that's handy later on: If you hit that little window in the top-left corner of the interceptor screen, you'll minimize the interception and basically enter pursuit mode. This'll also let you get multiple fighters in on the interception.
Later on, that's about the only way to sink anything if you haven't managed an advanced interceptor. It'll also let you avoid downing things over the ocean.
Next person you get with good throwing should be named 'Yeti' in honor of your many deaths during your Spelunky play through from being thrown by those hairy bastards.

I don't know how often this LP is gonna be updated (once a week? once in a while?), but you can bet I'll be checking out every new video and cheering on your X-Com squad until the very end!
I know that the second x-com game was basically a mod of this game.
But it would have been cool if they had just made mod´s as a mean of making expansion sets.
I thought it would be cool if they had puplished the same game, just that you played the aliens, and that you had to kill as many civilians and anal probe as many cows as possible.
Or making a mod in which the aliens have won and you have to make a resistance against the aliens, stealing their weapons and UFO´s and killing them.
@reklamomand The 3rd option was done in UFO:Aftermath. It had better graphics, but was more focused on combat, rather than on micro-management. PLus, you only had one team of 7 people and had no control over your bases, other than assigning them specific roles and lauching fighters. Research and production was also very simplified.
@reklamomand the seccound game was a metric fuckton harder, the ai was fantastic (to our shigrin) missions are exxedinly longer (you need to beat two maps to finnish some terrors) and everything you know and love has been nurfed to hell and is almost worthless
@LPwatcher And the hilariously unfortunate part that made it that way? People complained the first game was too easy. But, there's a reason.
THE DIFFICULTY WAS BUGGED.
Only the first mission would be at the chosen difficulty. After that, it went to the lowest difficulty for the rest of that campaign. The producers got a tone of complaints, and made Superhuman the LOWEST difficulty in the sequel.
The sequel? Yeah... Its difficulty worked like it was supposed to. Cue Ragequits.
@LPwatcher I'm sorry but you are dead wrong on the AI. The AI in Terror from the Deep was either horrible or completely nonexistant. The most aliens would do beyond sitting in the same spot for literally the entire mission was patrol back and forth; in UFO the aliens actually move around the map and look for you, I even had a battleship commander and his squad bum-rush my Skyranger once.
So yeah, the difficulty in the sequel/mod was just plain artificial.
Kiko, I find those alien stun launchers very useful. I normally have 2 people in the group with them and the rest with usall guns (rifles, laser rifle, heavy plasmas). They do very good stun damage, on a lot of things I've brought aliens down in 1 hit, it doesn't matter if civilians get caught up in it since it only knocks things unconcious and because it's explosive, low accuracy people ar eokay with them. I've brought nasty aliens like crysallids in 1 hit with them.
I believe you should tell Yve to stand infront of Sub zero since shes immune to heavy plasma damage. Direct hit on no armor? No damage? Also im curious did you sell those stun bombs on purpose for small launcher or was that just your way of saying your just going to capture the leaders and ignore medics and other semihigh value targets? Also good job getting the sectoid navigator(? Hope so atleast!) alive!
Given that it was standing in the power source room and handling small lanucher I'd say it was an engineer. Never seen a navigator with a small launcher, I only played on superhuman though. Maybe it differs on other difficulty levels.
@Mizmaaa Yeah your right I for some reason had mixed the eguipments of engineers and navigators switched in my memory. Oh well atleast its an ufo class research still and not just a soldier :P

I know that the second x-com game was basically a mod of this game.
But it would have been cool if they had just made mod´s as a mean of making expansion sets.
I thought it would be cool if they had puplished the same game, just that you played the aliens, and that you had to kill as many civilians and anal probe as many cows as possible.
Or making a mod in which the aliens have won and you have to make a resistance against the aliens, stealing their weapons and UFO´s and killing them.

@reklamomand The 3rd option was done in UFO:Aftermath. It had better graphics, but was more focused on combat, rather than on micro-management. PLus, you only had one team of 7 people and had no control over your bases, other than assigning them specific roles and lauching fighters. Research and production was also very simplified.

@reklamomand the seccound game was a metric fuckton harder, the ai was fantastic (to our shigrin) missions are exxedinly longer (you need to beat two maps to finnish some terrors) and everything you know and love has been nurfed to hell and is almost worthless

@LPwatcher And the hilariously unfortunate part that made it that way? People complained the first game was too easy. But, there's a reason.
THE DIFFICULTY WAS BUGGED.
Only the first mission would be at the chosen difficulty. After that, it went to the lowest difficulty for the rest of that campaign. The producers got a tone of complaints, and made Superhuman the LOWEST difficulty in the sequel.
The sequel? Yeah... Its difficulty worked like it was supposed to. Cue Ragequits.

@LPwatcher I'm sorry but you are dead wrong on the AI. The AI in Terror from the Deep was either horrible or completely nonexistant. The most aliens would do beyond sitting in the same spot for literally the entire mission was patrol back and forth; in UFO the aliens actually move around the map and look for you, I even had a battleship commander and his squad bum-rush my Skyranger once.
So yeah, the difficulty in the sequel/mod was just plain artificial.

Kiko, I find those alien stun launchers very useful. I normally have 2 people in the group with them and the rest with usall guns (rifles, laser rifle, heavy plasmas). They do very good stun damage, on a lot of things I've brought aliens down in 1 hit, it doesn't matter if civilians get caught up in it since it only knocks things unconcious and because it's explosive, low accuracy people ar eokay with them. I've brought nasty aliens like crysallids in 1 hit with them.

I believe you should tell Yve to stand infront of Sub zero since shes immune to heavy plasma damage. Direct hit on no armor? No damage? Also im curious did you sell those stun bombs on purpose for small launcher or was that just your way of saying your just going to capture the leaders and ignore medics and other semihigh value targets? Also good job getting the sectoid navigator(? Hope so atleast!) alive!

Given that it was standing in the power source room and handling small lanucher I'd say it was an engineer. Never seen a navigator with a small launcher, I only played on superhuman though. Maybe it differs on other difficulty levels.
