I actually felt that way until i saw it in person at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. Actually, in my opinion, the back looks pretty ok. But it's the front that really spoils the looks of the car. There just seem to be somethings missing at the front. Something in excess of what actually there. And it gives the car's headlights an odd looking appearance. The Audi R8 V10 Coupe and Spyder were much better looking to me!

@tmat04 The new SLS is an "homage" to the old one, right? So that's why the grill is designed this way (but the rest of the front is modern). The same situation should be at the rear, but it looks out of place because is too "flat", the front has all kind of ups-and-downs, is more "carved", the rear should be also. Is not bad, Merc design alright, but not for he new SLS.

Similar example: Mustang Iacocca. Gorgeous. The front is so beautifully carved in relief, but the rear is also too flat.
