question, you said that the Fisher F2 are good machines but you're using some G2 machine. 1. What's the difference? is the signal strength better? does it go deeper into the ground? wider detection? what's the big deal with the G2 that's not included in the F2....2. would any detector detect any type of metal or are there specific detectors for certain metals?

@Radmann916 F2 is entry level machine, good features at reasonable price. G2 is a machine better suited for particular places, like gold prospecting, relic hunting or heavy trash sites. F2 is a generalized machine for everywhere, G2 is specialized to do a few things better.

@thebestsk8r123 bounty hunters are fun toys to start with, they do work, you might even find some good stuff. But remember every park, church, playground, graveyard, historic site and most home sites have already been hit...newer tectors have better ways to try to find stuff that was missed before, you'll need every advantage you can get out there. Look into ace 250 or fisher F2 instead of BH for a STARTER...upgrade from there if you like diggin holes and want to get serious

@roadkillscjim the metal detector that find pure gold has to be at a frequency range of 12 to 70 most metal detectors especially the cheaper ones fall in the 3-8 khz range, and then the only way to detect it that low is with a pulse... which is usually found on the most expensive metal detectors. I personally know due to field experience and book knowledge as well. and by pure gold im saying anything above 22 karat

@Pupsqueak3 it depends on what your searching for, for example i am a whites metal detector fan as well as garrett, but whites has coin, all around, strictly gold prospecting, becach because of the salt can interfere there, as well as submersibles. most expensive there is 1800, good quality is at least cost 100$ per inch it detects, cost 500, should detect avg 5 inch, but it doesnt guarentee which metal either, that where specialy detectors come in

@sr71ablackbird for the new diggers...the sooner you learn to ignore the display and listen to the tone, the better off you'll be. Understand this: the display is only a GUESS by the machine based on a number of different measurements...all tectors TRY to classify targets into "coin denominations" but there are vastly more kinds of targets out there than coins and vastly more coin types, states of metal decay, soil types and mixed signals than it can ever hope to classify.
