@diogotomediogo and porto will one, because porto is way better gameplaying, they're quick, good finishes and everything else, just see that porto won 5-1 to villareal!!!!
@simoncowellshaircut I actually think its a perfect size. When they were in Croke Park I think the capasity was too big and the atmosphere suffered a lot. I think with a smaller stadium, closer to the action will create a much better atmosphere on match days
Fuck all u who dont like the new stadium. With your comments. What the fuck do yous all know. Its a beautiful stadium. Well up there with the best in the world
The new Lansdowne Road is a disaster, its too small to be a proper international stadium, for the last few years no one has been talking about this place, there has been absolutley no excitment for it, all the hype and excitment for the last few years has been for Croke park. the FAI AND IRFU are two of the biggest corrupt organisations in the country, just goes to show when the fai tried to sell the country out by giving the tv rights to Sky
Hahaha does anyone think this looks like a big giant glass toilet seat? I do LOL, still! i cant wait for the 4th of august the first soccer match to be played there, airtricity league XI vs Manunited, C'MON!
It wouldnt be a typical Irish stadium without that one side with small capacity. I kinda like it though. Less is more kind of styling to it. Like the way you'd leave a gap in something just because you can. Its Artistic at least
Nice arena but it should have been built bigger and better elsewhere! Up the road old nottle factory! If it was built there! The land at landsdowne would have been developed for houses, apartments, offices and we'd have a stadium up the road that hold 80,0000 and we'd be the envy of the world! Again nice stadium but it should not have been built! Thanks bertie you ruined us all
This great stadium is hosting the 2012 Europa league final . I`m very happy that our government invested in such a great stadium . We now have two magnificent stadiums , Croke park 80,000 + and the Aviva Stadium 50,000 + . I`m very excited and deligthed to see the building of this stadium . First match will be Ireland vs Argentina . The little stand is unusual and I like it . Typical English xD always jealous .
LOL at that little stand wtf is that all about? 50.000 is pretty small though, looks nice untill that little stand comes in view, not a match for wembley and millenium stadiums
the stadium is located in a residential area meaning they only had the same amount of space as the last stadium to build on....of course the FAI and IRFU would have liked a bigger stadium especially because the support of Irish rugby and football is so great an 80,000 seater would easily have been filled for every match but it just is not possible.
The residents had to be considered! This is also the reason for the small stand at one end...a bigger one would have resulted in houses being blocked of light!People keep asking why they didnt just change location but not only would that have cost an awful lot of money but Landsdowne Road is steeped in history and the location, being in the center of Dublin, results in an awesome atmosphere throughout the city on match days....a unique feature of matches in Dublin...
Oh dear, Beaujoire stadium MUST remain the only stadium in the world to have curves? Oops, major architectural oversight on our part. Does it upset you that there is more than one stadium with curves?
@helenaZZZZirlandaise Not my point at all. I was just stating that the design they have developed is very similar. Also it looks ridiculous, just my point of view :D
Why is it that all the big stadiums in ireland have a stupid looking small stand at one of the ends how hard is it to build that stand the same as the one across from it??
@ray4342 The residents had to be considered! This is also the reason for the small stand at one end...a bigger one would have resulted in houses being blocked of lightPeople keep asking why they didnt just change location but not only would that have cost an awful lot of money but Landsdowne Road is steeped in history and the location, being in the center of Dublin, results in an awesome atmosphere throughout the city on match days....a unique feature of matches in Dublin...

The design incorporates both a concert venue as well as a sports stadium.
Here's what the architects said:
Architectural acoustic modeling, acoustic design and performance sound system design.
Design has considered internal acoustic treatment as well as façade sound insulation for the bowl and sensitive internal spaces. Vibration transmission was also assessed for the adjoining Dart railway.
Impressive end result considering all the parameters within which they had to work.
Hmm, this looks very much like estadio de futbol monterrey, same size aswell. Any reason for the smaller stand? For example in Monterrey it is like that to show "el cerro de la silla"
I remember at the time they were finalizing plans for the Aviva, the site on which it sits was estimated to have been worth 600 to 700 million euro at that time with a bit of intelligence we could of sold the site at the height of the property boom and built 2 new stadiums, keeping croker open we could of had a stadium in cork, enlarged thomand park and built another stadium in say galway and hosted that rumored euro champs with Scotland but this being the country that puts retards in power...
I agree the tiny north end looks absolutely ridiculous, croker too. I'd like to see a fully finished irish stadium not 3/4 complete. The residence have too much power thats why is looks like it was designed by a retard
@mickser101 They did that to so they wont block out the natural sunlight for the residents. Who should be aloud a say on who parks on their door step. Its called democracy mate!
Once again poor auld paddy didnt bother his arse finishing a stadium. is there a stadium in the country that we can be proud of. croke park is only great 3/4 of the way round
that small stand doesn't look bad at all, but i wonder what r they going 2 do at the euro league final, when at least 20000 foreign ultras need 2 stay in 2 pretty identical endstands ,.one finalist won't like having its fans in the smaller one
The reason for the small stand on one side is due to the house's behind could not be shaded by the stadium all day round. Planning permission was pending that they went back to the drawing board and came up with a viable solution. It looks a great stadium. The 50,000 capacity is probably adequate enough for football internationals but not so for rugby. I can see the big rugby games being played at Croke Park where an extra 32,500 will be able to view. It will be interesting to see what outcome is decided.
Looking forward to the grand opening of this superb arena.
It will be open in April of 2010. I cannot wait. Sick and tired of GAA bogball supporters criticizing rugby supporters. Croke Park is not good for rugby - the GAA bogball pitch is far too big, and if you're seated up in the rafters, you need binoculars to see the match.

The ground is gonna have all the facilities like the bars and restaurants which is good but having no north end will make it look shabby, unfinished and a crap design just like croker one day both grounds will have to be turned 90 degrees to have full stands on every side not the north-end-itis which plagues the hill16 and havelock square ends
