I have a panasonic srd-s10 camcorder and, although it connects to the mac, the mac is utterly unable to read it's standard mod video files without a 3rd party program (they're literally mpeg-2 files with a different file extension).

Apple's ad campaigns will always be vague and inaccurate, it just plays to the fan boys and/or people who don't know any better.

"Tale" a wedge out of the box, don't need to plug it in, just use it.  The Wedge, the simplest of tools. Can't play games on a wedge though... or upgrade it. But I bet if you overpay for your wedge you can get it in different "cute" colors.

Hmm that "new japaneese camera" did NOT work on my G4 Tiger (I NEEDED A 3rd party DRIVER..go figure) but it DID pop right up on my IBM Thinkcenter XP. NIce to know that even if XP does not recognize the camera brand, IT STILL MOUNTS IT AS A USB DRIVE SO YOU CAN PULL THE PICTURES OFF. OSX needs IPHOTO TO DO THIS.

2) The simply awful excuses I have seen for apparent 'cases'. I have seen drab beige ones, boxes that look like half computer, half ghetto blaster & boxes that look like fish tanks. Water-cooled you know ... yes, how could we miss it. You don't seem to have moved on much further from the days of adjusting the IRQ's & DMA's on your hardware of old. No subtelty. No beauty. It's an advert promoting networking - OS X has built in Windows file sharing ... nothing to do with different OS languages. And as far as upgrades go - they use standard SATA hard disks, standard IDE DVD writers & standard video cards, etc. There really is little difference in the components than a PC. The only real differences are 1) that Microsoft don't make PC's (thank god), & therefore there is a lack of integration between the hardware & software.

thats rediculous on laptops u push command and click for right click and your apps dont have to be on the dock to see them you can make desktop shortcuts and see them in the applications folder just like on a windows computer

Yeah, but you'll need to download the driver either from the manufacturere's outdated CD installers or some obsure website. Take it from me, a Mac user since 1984, with iPhoto you don't need ANY drivers and it'll read EVERY digital camera made in the world. Nuff said.

wow, Apple really lives in a fantasy world. If you want to talk about a platform that has less hardware variety, it definitely a Mac. I've love to see Apple allow PC users to install OS X on their PCs. Why are differentiating themselves from PCs? If you open up the new intel macs, they are just basically PCs with intel chipsets. The only thing keeping a normal PC from running OSX is a sort of hardware dongle they put in their mac PCs.

Of course, the target audience of this ad won't even know what a chipset and motherboard is.
