Boredom didn't become any other songs. It doesn't sounds anything like Case or Spiral Static. I've heard the whole song. The lyrics are being sung in this section are the main verse:
And you make it seem like nobody else has. And it does sound like the breakdown in Cave. Really clear. And more than a lot like Escape. But not Spiral Static- which was incidentally played around this time so that's where the confusion came from.
Obviously the song was known as Boredom then, but it does seem very similar to the quiet parts of Cave. In fact, Matt mentions that Cave was written from parts of their oldest song and he may have been referring to this. For instance, Twin was once known as Balloonatic. Some of Boredom surfaced in Spiral Static too.
I don't think it's sling, obviously i've never heard the full song but i don't think the drumming matches the clips from the demo. It's definitely an early version of spiral static, although it's been said that spiral static's lyrics came from other songs. I'd check here: tinyurl dot com slash 3yklx9
They aren't 19, there 17. As if you look up the demo tape they where 15 at that time. Dont believe me? Go to "Matt bellamy 1992" Theres clips of him playing piano as he was 12 then so you do the math..
They were definitely 19. Matt Bellamy is 29 now. Chris Wolstenholme is 28 and Dom is 29. They were 18 at the YOUNGEST. But definitely not 17 if this was actually done in 97
Brilliant mate! Oh man how fantastic...it'd be fascinating to see Muse watch this clip, now that they've come so far...four albums, touring the world, Glastonbury, Wembley coming up in 3 months time... Imagine what they'd have been thinking at that gig back in 1997. Wow. They'd have had no idea what was in store for them ;) How amazing. Thank you SO much for putting this up!

At the time I wrote it I was one of the few people who had heard the song in full...I was reponsible for the release of them...

and 10 years later, they were playing wembley stadium. Doesn't seem like that long when you put it in perspective.

The chorus of the song has the exact same chords as hyper music and hyper chondriac music, just moved up a step.
E3tiger 3 years ago 2
Yeah, but the backing vocals define it.

matt is 18, at this was on the 5th of May 1997 and his birthday is 28 June. Chris and dominic are 19.
This isnt spiral static, its a song called Sling, which Muse played in their pre-showbiz era.
