@TheLoner1987 - a large mantis will try, they will eat anything. i once saw one devour a whole dead feeder fish except for the bony head. too bad mantids dont live longer. love how those guys look at you with their buggy little eyes. that particular one pretty much was free to roam my apartment, although it spent most of its time hanging from the ceiling.

Mantis' are very nice to humans, I have two of them, I find them in our garden out front. They treat you like your parent, and they don't like crouds very much. I haven't had my mantis mate yet, Once tehy do mate, I will set the little ones free.

If the oxygen content were higher like double what it is now they could be. Insects are limited by their method of intaking oxygen so they have to stay small to be able to diffuse it properly. Back millions of years ago when it was higher you got spiders the size of small dogs and dragonflies the size of eagles, and thats just what we know of. So yeah picture that.

You have to also account for the speed of the insect at 5 feet would be alot quicker then a human. Also most of the pray they attack never see it coming so it does not matter if humans have machine guns or flame throwers because this bug will eat you in your sleep or attack you from behind and from the ceiling above.
