  • Christmas Comes To Willow Creek....LOVE that movie

  • I couldn't stand that bastard Geraldo!

  • If, despite all possible logic, I end up working as a director-producer-writer-actor in short films, I'm gonna rip-off that "window shopping" joke/pun because it is so awesome.

  • Mcnuggett buddies were the greatest damn toys ever!!! ( at least from a resturaunt:p)

  • "Want some appa joos?"

  • I have this exact set of commercials and whenever I see the Christmas Comes to Willow Creek spot I always have to exclaim, "we have a lady on board AND SHE IS IN LABOR!!"

  • Orange you glad to be a Chicken McNugget? NO WE'RE GOING TO BE CHEWED UP AND DIGESTED. I'M HORRIFIED TO BE A CHICKEN MCNUGGET.

  • GAWWWRRRFELD AND FEENDDDSS!!! YAYYY!

  • Claymation Christmas was awesome! And, thanks to YouTube, next month, I'm going to watch it for the first time in over 20 years.

As far as Rankin-Bass Santa origin stores go, I much prefer "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" to the rather odd "Life and Adventures...".

I can't believe it took until 1988 for diaper companies to realize that boys and girls have different anatomy.

Isotoner slippers--for when it's 5:30 pm Christmas Eve and you still have one more person to buy for.

  • haha my family recorded the "claymation christmas" off tv too!

  • Not only is the husband in the Scope commercial a douche for spending 1.50 on his wife at Christmas time, but he's also insinuating that he won't kiss her unless she uses it. Hope she dumped him!

  • I have all the these!! Wow we must of been watching tv that same night!!!

  • I didn't cough and cough and ask for mommy. I coughed like crazy until she would wake up and get the hint. She always did.

  • 0:33 McNuggets in their best Village People garb?

  • Those ladies sure do love their Bounce.

  • I remember when Geraldo came to Janesville, WI to interview Ken Peterson of the KKK & got punched in the nose. We watched it on TV in school. It was awesome.

  • Wow, the kid in the Nite Light commercial sure looks like Joseph Gordon-Levitt!!

  • Thank god for youtube and youtubers. thanks.

  • you can still look back now, man. :-)

  • I had the cowboy and tennis player mcnugget buddies. and danzero77 about your comment on saturday morning line-up, right on.

  • The Campbell's soup jingle sound slike Bon Jovi.

  • Wow, Bo and Luke Duke not as Bo and Luke Duke.

But "the Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" really takes the cake. How could I have not seen this? Somehow I missed out on the story of Santa's childhood. Poor me.

  • It's a pretty cool special, and basically the last stop-motion thing Rankin Bass did. It's up on youtube.

  • Cool. I'll definitely check it out.

  • @ajpecanic It is without a doubt THE best movie about Santa. There is some other studio that took a swing at it in the 90's, and they pulled it of pretty well too. Buy them both. :)

  • Plus I felt CBS' own "Television You Can Feel" image campaign from that year, while high energy still, was not as good as CBSpirit from 1987.

KMST(3K)? That's the first thing I thought of when I saw that... LOL

  • CBS was *unbeatable* in the 1980s for Saturday Mornings.... and 1988's image campaign and lineup was unstoppbable with Muppet Babies, Garfield, Mighty Mouse, Hey Vern It's Ernest, and Pee-Wee's Playhouse! Great all around!

However, Pat Sajak's show.... at least it did better than Chevy Chase's on Fox a few years later....

  • wow i totally remember these commericals. I'd watch them all the time. I was 4 when they first came out! What memories!

  • If Nellie Olesen is telling me not to drink, I'd be suspicious. She's up to something.

  • I loved those Nugget buddy toys.

  • If my husband ever gave me mouthwash for Christmas, he wouldn't get any lovin' for a month!!

  • The tune for the jingle to the two Bounce commercials on this video was inspired by "Jump (For My Love)" by the Pointer Sisters. A YouTuber named dadsoldtapes has a different commercial with the same tune, but with vocals (not sure if it's by the Pointers or not).

  • What number sequel to "The Land Before Time" are they on now? It seemed when I was still working at Blockbuster, we got at least two a year.

  • I think they're on 46. Not sure.

  • 12 direct to video sequels and a TV show.

  • I love these commercials. They are spirit lifters in this economy for sure.

  • I love these innocent moments of the 1980s, before the "depression" of the 21st century, Iraq, and 9/11.

  • The soup said FU lol

  • Yeah, because it was spelling the word "FUN"...

  • I miss saturday morning cartoons.....sob

  • and wer'e talking about the REAL satudray morning cartoons. Disney Warner Bros Hanna Barbera

  • I am 36 and I have to say....I have never had Mcd's chicken nuggets...hambergers or fries...

  • as Tom Jones would say/sing "it's not unusual", however I gotta ask 4 curiosity reasons were/are you a vegetarian/vegan or had strict parents or did you never have the desire for the Golden arches. That said....... you've never had them before...... don't even think about eating them now

they're worse now than they were then

    bababababaababa I'm not luvin it!

  • My parents were not strict and I was never a vegan...the stuff just looks gross to me. I do not even like the smell. If I want a hamburger, I just make it homemade.

  • My favorite hamburgers come from a place called Five Guys Burgers and Fries they are in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Miami, among other areas.

  • God i love the luvs comercial

  • Wow. Nellie Oleson just told me not to drink and drive. I figured she would encourge that kind of behavior. :)

  • McNugget Buddies, i had those, i think i may still have them, just may not have the outfits that came with them.

  • who would have thought that four years later Dave would take Pat's timeslot and is still there today

  • Technically, Dave didn't take his timeslot, since this short-lived Sajak CBS show was on at 12:30.

  • Actually, Sajak was competing with Johnny Carson. But, Ansenio Hall help out in the failure of Sajak, in part!

  • Looking into it, I guess the Sajak show ran from 11:30 to 1:00, which meant it competed against both Carson and Letterman. No wonder it failed.

  • So "The Pat Sajak Show" was 90 minutes long like SNL, except it aired on weekdays. In case you were wondering what Pat's up to today, he's currently hosting a far more successful show, the syndicated game show "Wheel of Fortune."

  • lol Pat Sajak Show = fail.

Other late night shows that were DOA..

    Joan Rivers Show

Thicke of the Night (yes, Alan Thicke had a late show).

    The Chevy Chase Show

    The Magic Hour

    Keenan Ivory Wayans

Jimmy Kimmel (Yeah, I know he's still on the air but it won't be long until he is cancelled and indicted for the atrocious war crimes he passes as late night entertainment.)

  • I don't believe Joan actually had a real show. She just sat in a room talking, thinking it was all fake. She's pretty crazy. :/

Jimmy Kimmel is awesome. You don't even know good TV, damn it.

  • Great commercials.

  • Everything about 'The Land Before Time' makes me feel sad.

  • "Oh no, you got lost. Oh no, there's T-Rex. Oh no, your friends are j-holes. Oh no, you realize you love them once they're gone. Oh no, you're a j-hole. Oh yes, everything worked out! Oh no, T-Rex ate your mom."

Yeah, was kind of a downer movie.

    But I loved them. :P

  • I totally forgot about the McNugget buddies!!!! THE BEST!!!!

Remember when Saturday mornings really did rock?

Also, I had no idea that Sajak had a late night show! How long did that last? About a week?

  • @athleticsgirl23 about a year.

  • Every time I see Land Before Time promos, I think of the NC's Saddest Nostalgic moments. "How am I supposed to feel sad for something that died millions of years ago?"

*in high pitched crying voice*: "LIKE THIS!"

So the Claymation Christmas DID air again in '88; that's likely when I watched it. I taped it when it aired that time, and to this day I still watch the tape it's on every Christmas. I've even introduced it to modern-day kids to the thing. Can't let the classics be forgotten!

  • Those were the days, life just seemed simple then, aww the memories!!

  • I have these same commercials and my collection, and the Christmas comes to Willow Creek promo ALWAYS cracks me up. "we have a woman on board, and she is in LABOR!!"
