  • Go ziggo

  • It seems like horizontal spin design is pretty much the best thing you can do in this.

  • @SonOfNye Yeah, I think it was actually Grant from Mythbusters who was first to use it, and he promptly destroyed everything in the way.

  • @SonOfNye Blendo was made by Jamie actually, and was so destructive that it was given a special award and then disqualified due to safety concerns. Grant made Deadblow, a fun robot to watch but not in the same league.

Although it looks to me like a really strong hammer bot with a spike on it might be able to beat a horizontal spinner by piercing through the top then keeping the spike inside so they could push it around at arm's length. "harpoon bot"

  • @joemamaUSA

The hard part is aiming the damned spike.

  • Ziggo is my favorite LIGHTWEIGHT

    bot!!!!

  • Ok everyone, i know that Backlash and Nightmare are made by the same team now so there is no need to reply to my comment anymore.

  • @Gavin17259 hahah lololol

  • has ziggo EVER lost?

  • @pyr666 Ziggo has lost before, I forget who it was but he just stopped moving and died mid fight. i dont think ive ever seen him flipped before tho

  • i know that backlash also faced wedge of doom do u have that battle?

  • If this is my lightwieht enemy im fuked

  • nerd intelligent power kicked the ass of the muscles

  • Why does backlash's movement system suck so much? he's such a cool robot >.<

  • Reply: Backlashs movment isnt all that great because of the gyroscopic(spinning) forces of Backlashes rotary bludgeoning device (the disc). It can give an upper cut at speeds of about 130mph!

Nightmares disc can spin 300mph! Mirco and Nano Nightmares discs can spin at 150mph! Now, if none of

those can give a Chuck Norris uppercut, then I dont know what will! But anyway, Backlash's wheels arnt far

enough apart to keep him from flipping himself over gyroscopically, thats why he has pegs.

  • i wanna see ziggo go against typoon :P

  • To all the people complaining about 'Ughhh, that was boringz!!!', No shit, watch the semi finals. You'll get why they were so slow.

  • omg i love both...this was my favorite final

  • This is probably the most boring final ever.

  • This was a tough one because I liked both.

    ...but I wanted Ziggo

  • what an idiot, putting an awkward giant slow blade in one vertical direction while this genius creates a spinning gem

  • You have to remember that Backlash is based off of Nightmare, one of the most destructive combat robots ever built, with most of it's wins being one hit KO's. What works in one class doesn't always work in another. Also, Backlash was basically running on empty and barely holding together with spit, prayers and duct tape. It's batteries weren't even recharged after the last match and it took a beating. Ziggo had a huge advantage that would have been non-existent in an earlier round.

  • Backlash is one of the most destructive bots in Battlebots (won the Lightweight division in Season 1 and got to the finals here in Season 2. The blade does spin much faster but as 40KEndgame said, it wasn't at full power. I also recall Jim mentioning on his site that the antenna was too far down inside to give much reception to Backlash, which is why he wasn't really moving much.

  • backlash is the best

  • these 2 were my favorite :D

  • what do these robots use for power?

  • If I recall properly, many of them use batteries taken out of electric wheelchairs and such. Anything along those lines.

  • Pretty much anything and everything that the rules for the competition will allow.

Batteries are common, but there are a few that are driven by combustion engines, for example.

  • yes.

  • Is Backlash made by the same team that made Nightmare?

  • @Gavin17259 yes

  • @Gavin17259 yes

  • @Gavin17259 yes

  • @Gavin17259 Backlash is owned by Team Nightmare so yes :)

  • @Gavin17259 yes

  • This is one of the only fights I remember, since Backlash was one of my favorite robots back then. I remember that Backlash was badly beat up in the previous round by Toe Crusher, who barely lost. Afterward, the drivers didn't have enough time to repair it like they would have in the earlier rounds.

I honestly don't remember why Ziggo wasn't doing so well, but I believe it's for the same reasons.

  • According to his website, the problem with Backlash was that the antenna fell too far in the chassis to take in radio signals, which was why it was so sluggish and non-responsive.

  • Ziggo vs Backlash is like Manning vs Brady. I always felt they were great rivals.

  • Even without its spiining power, you cannot beat Ziggo.

  • backlash lost mobility and ziggo couldnt spin

  • i never understood why this was on comedy central haha :p backlash was always my favorite

  • nfsandrew u must be crazy if they both were in perfect cond no way backlash would win i used 2 love this show funny it on u tube

  • people keep screaming that ziggo lost mobility, backlash lost his first so therefor ziggo won

  • When a robot is flipped over, they wait to see if the bot can get flipped over and in this case, Ziggo got caught on the exit ramp in the time that they waited for Backlash so it really should've been a reset, whether both robots were beaten up badly or not.

  • I think both were actually immobilized, Ziggo seemed to be caught between where the ramp and floor connected, lifting his wheels off the ground. I want a rematch!

  • According to the website that the builder has of backlash, the judges admitted the screwed up.

Still Backlash apparently was having reception issues due to some attenna wire being stuck deep in the chasis, so the restart wouldn't of helped much. :/

  • so many bots got caught on that ramp. I really hated that; they needed to fix it.

  • my 2 favorite lightweights and i love when these 2 go at it

  • ziggo pwns all fighters!!!!!!!!!

  • Ziggo owns all. He even wins with the weapon not working.

  • uh there's an obvious loss of mobility in backlash. otherise he could have won.

  • backlash and vlad the impaler and tazbox n minion were all my favorites lol

i bet ya if they were both in perfect shape

this fight would have be really intrestening

  • Dude why doesn't that bot have teeth on the blade???? WEAKSAUCE!!!!

  • I remember watching this match live as a kid, it was amazing ^^

  • wooooheee

  • cannot watch this anymore live in holland sucks : /

  • Both of them were pretty obviously damaged pre-battle [You can see one of Backlash's wheels are dead, Jim even posted this on his site] and Ziggo stopped spinning after the first hit. What a shame. Would have loved to see these two go at it fully repaired.

  • I saw on the website of the builder of Backlash that Backlash actually beat Ziggo in a Botbash event later on

  • Ziggo living up to His name once Again !

  • backlash had a horrible design plan, where the motor disrupted the weight balance

  • Exactly why he had those long tire spikes.

  • i think that the people who built it actulally thought it could serve as a useful item

  • well...that horrible design sure didnt work when he won the championship last year

  • lol @ 0:22. "As seen on TV"

  • did you know that Ziggo is an upside-downed pan?

  • yeah thats added protection cause those thing are hard

  • XD he's a Wok pot actually

  • i used to have a little motorized model of blacklash it was awesome! but my favorite little bot is always ZIGGO!!!

  • I think I still have mine..Had it packed up from years ago..Battery still worked too!

  • The only flaw that ziggo had was himself. he would spin so fast that it would knock something loose inside itself upon hitting something

  • Ziggo is one of the best designed bots in battlebots history. durable and highly effective. period, end of story

  • Son of Whyatchi is better designed I think than Ziggo.

  • nah, they both fit their weight classes; Son would end up loosing some matches in a lighter weight class simply cause he couldn't move well enough while a faster version like Ziggo wouldn't quite work in the heavier classes cause you cant make the bot fast enough to make piloting as big a part of the fight in the heavier weight class and you NEED that extra 1.5 weight advantage to make your hits hurt them more than you when the bots have so much inertia.

    btw...Megabyte VS Shrederator VS Whyachi?

  • yeah but son of whyatchi(except for his one time self explosion) doesn't suffer from major hits where he hits and the force throws him back cause he is heavier. ziggo goes flying form hits alot.

  • agreed but I stand by my opinion

  • ziggo is cool

  • bck lash is a cheaper version of nightmare

  • BETTER version of Nightmare.

Backlash was LW champion and went to the finals another time, Nightmare was either destroying his opponent completely or failing totally.

  • That wasnt a decent victory, Backkash was having a serious technical problem right at the beggining.

  • yeah like ziggo wasnt experiencing technical problems. When was the last time u saw a spinbot that couldnt spin win a match?

  • Spinners have often issues with their WEAPON.

Here it is is a DRIVE TRAIN problem.

I heard that Jim did accidentally jammed the receiver antenna and he coudldn't decently control his bot :(

That said, Ziggo as a shell spinner is theorically strong against vertical spinners.

  • I'm not sure if this counts, but it's still a "weapon of death not being used in battle" scenario. Back on Robot Wars in series 3, Hypno Disc didn't use it's main weapon for half the battle against 101 for the battle that would decide who would got onto the grand final since HD's weapon didn't work on 101's design. It was the tightest judges decision even seen on Robot Wars (so much so the judges had to INSPECT both of them for damage), and Hypno Disc won by a hair.

  • Fuck yeah, Ziggo! Always been my favorite Battlebot.

  • same for me bro

  • i like him,too.one,when he spins,it does LOADS OF DAMAGE!2,IT`S SUPER FAST!AND 3RD:IT`S NAMED AFTER THE CREATOR`S BELOVED CAT.HENSE,HE IS HONORING HIM.THAT`S CLASSY,DUDE

  • This match should've been reset as Ziggo got caught on the ramps right after flipping Backlash.

  • Ziggo is awesome

  • That was one weak championship fight.

  • They were both beat up pretty badly in the semis

  • Yea i know, seemed like backlashes blade was loose and was making him off balance so he was reluctant to move very much, or maybe he was having radio problems, or a combo of both.

  • Ziggo's flag flipped him over

  • Actually, I belive the reason for Baclkash's "tipsy driving" is due to his design. He has 3 wheels and the front wheel isn't able to hold the weight of the blade well.

  • Its usually much more balanced than that when the blade is straight.

  • True but wouldn't the disc have to be straight to spin from the way it's attached to Backlash?

  • Looked like it was just slightly tilted.

  • yea Jim said that he had accidentally pushed backlashes antennea down too far in the robot and backlash wasnt recieving many signals. Jim was danceing around like a madman trying to get backlash to respond

  • @mitchio83 yea because backlash's maker jim doesnt know his ass from a hole in the ground!

  • @mitchio83 Who uploaded this junk?

  • thanks for putting up the ziggo videos

    he pwned major

  • nah those giant blades arent that good agienst something that can send them onto there side like ziggo or a flipper

  • Backlash could have won if it didnt have radio problems
