Theres is no one "correct" way, you play it how you feel comfortable playing it, just as long as it sounds like the song, which it does.

Yes of course you're right . Correct might not be the right word. On the other hand: he IS playing the Chet Atkins-way but not doing all the way. He is playing Chet Atkins version but without the bass-line which is quite important for the genre.

im working on that song atm too, maybe you should try to keep the two beat going in the back ground since your doing that kinda chet atkins thing, even if its just the same base note 2 times in one bar.... make it sound smoother, im going for a more jazzers version to work in my guitar combo with a basss player playing the 2 beat

It's a Tacoma Roadking guitar. I bought it before Fender bought Tacoma. The hole is moved into the corner to allow more of the body's wood to vibrate. It gives it a little deeper tone. I definitely recommend one!
