@richardshapiroII no, chi and reiki are different, chi comes from within, and is arguably finite, reiki on the otherhand, comes from all of existance, and is by all acounts infinite. it is very difficult to understand without experienceing genuinely extrordinary amounts of both, such as a true masters, and everyone has their own personal oppinion, but in general, it is accepted as thus. hope I was able to help you all.

My main point was that I have exhausted my chi before with constant use in just a few hours, but have given day long reiki treatments and never noticed so much as the slightest decrease in power or effectiveness. Paul Dong has written two excellent books that goes to the root of the whole concept. I highly recommend them to start with.
I just finished his book "Empty Force The Ultimate Martial Arts" today actually. The other book is called "Chi Gong - The Ancient Chinese Way to Health" and they cover most of what you need to be aware of during training.
I think that suggestion must play a part in students of a master who become more influenced by their teacher's power, presence or charisma.
In terms of whether this abilty works outside of suggestion even if it does exist there are few real practitioners. Even if one person could do empty force successfully a hundred times a scientist or psychologist will always say it is suggestion etc as they have to use their theories to explain behaviour.
There are instructors which do at times, visit a Tai Chi class which I do enjoy. There are tests, to determine if techniques are done correctly, such as push-hands.
The testing of a person for sensitivity, can be suggestion. A more objective test, is moving objects and breaking items, this is because that will supply, evidence which is document-able.
I read Paul Dong's book on empty force and found out that I come from his lineage. In my school we do the empty force training, but we don't train to knock people out without making contact.
The training is legit, but I want to be a good fighter, not a magician...if that happens as a by-product, then so be it.
This guy is a ((((((Hypnotist))))) I can see at the start he is doing a "suggest-ability test" with his subjects.Once he has identified these he will put them all together to make the effect more dynamic. Any people that are not so suggestive can be carried allong by the mass induction. This is easy I do this all the time with my mates. Oh yes i am also a reiki and tai chi practioner.
they can feel it because they came looking for it. They are open to it. Then you add in the power of suggestion and an expectation of a reaction.... and Chi is explained. Ridiculous waste of time.

um, gonna disagree.
I used the term energy.
Rei Ki is a form of healing work, that uses a kind of energy. universal energy.
You will notice the japanese word for chi, Ki, in the name Rei Ki.
chi gung, meditationn and other arts can also get you to that universal energy, it's not like reiki is the only or first method to do this.
Reiki is a good art form, and we will all be better off when we start seeing the similarities in what we do...

I have had similar experiences.
I use the universal energy to heal; it never gives up, it's just there to be tapped into.
but, I didn't learn this from reiki.
I learned this from practicing bagua and meditating.
there are numerous arts that go where reiki goes.
any real healing or spiritual path, if you keep at it, will bring you into contact with this universal energy.
no one style has a lock on the good stuff.
that's what I am saying.
