Foster is making a statement about the realities youth face in their lives. It is absolutely relative just as Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" video was (where a kid takes a gun to school and shoots himself in front of the class & played out by Mtv back in the day). Foster's music is complex, composed, and his writing is some of the best I've heard since Pearl Jam. I hope Foster hasn't been discouraged by Mtv and will continue to write and play music that touches millions of us in the most personal ways. ;)

I remember feeling disappointed when I found out that a song like this was not what I thought it was about. Just looking at this video watch?v=SLK7hrRijes, I remember thinking what could've been had they actually written about life instead of violence. But after learning how Foster the People explained the meaning for it, my disappointment vanished, and now look at that video as a depiction of how life can be if we're (not) more aware of youth violence.

i dont know...i really liked the song before i understood all the lyrics, english is not my first language, so i always thought he said in the song "faster than my wallet"i decided to search the lyrics and then i thought it was really creepy and perverse because the song sounds so happy that it sounds like its celebrating the shootings in schools instead of analizing them, like Pearl Jam's "Jeremy", the video helped understand more the message of their song. But FTP didnt make the same impact.
