The monarchy employs thousands of people. They do great work for various charities. The English are not starving. England has the highest rate of obesity in Europe. Why shouldn't Charles marry Camilla? Lots of their subjects marry 2,3 and 4 times.

Also I don't see how this was a waste of anything. No one in that church had crystal balls and could predict what would happen. Why shouldn't they have a big wedding? Many non-royals have large weddings all the time and end up in divorce court a few years later. Shit happens sometimes.
