It's really amazing that you have stuck with it for so long and been able to document it as well! So cool to see the changes even in your face from each weigh in thumbnail. Good luck keep it up!

  • HAPPY BELATED!!!! FELIZ CUMPLEANOS!

  • Nice video. If anyone wants a weigh in partner/ weight loss, please let me know. I'm kicking a fast food habit myself, which is very paradoxical to being raised on turkey burgers and vegetables also.

  • That was one hell of a journey !! I actually sat down and watched most of those vids. wow !

Being a 6 foot tall guy stuck at 155 lbs for most of my life (slinky alert) was a nightmare. I hit the gym six years ago and I finally clocked 202 lbs with very low body fat. I dont look anything like I was back then and I finally can look at myself in a mirror without cringing. It was a painful road, but worth every grunt along the way.

  • in 9 grade got up to 145, im 5"7". i was 120 pound. my family started to tell me that i was getting fat so i started running. but i wasnt really into. but then tenth grade ended and i really hated my body. so i have been running 3 miles every day. i cut out junk food and eat less. i weighed myself i weighed 130 pounds. i lost 15 pounds! i haven't weighed myself in 6 weeks though. sometimes i feel like giving up, but after seeing the change you went through it has given me energy. THANK YOU

  • In the 150's...cool. good for your girlfriend. Did you ever watch any videos on "burst training"? Give it a try.

  • Shanti I just put up my first Video, YOU inspired me!! Keep it up hun! I'll keep cheering for you, and Greg!

  • AH! Happy belated! Leooooooo!

  • Happy Birthday

  • happy birthday

  • Wow.. You look amazing. Happy birthday!

  • I just wanted to reccomend I bought a scale awhile ago and it tells your weight, bodyfat and water. I love it. It really helps to keep me commited. Sometimes it really psys to buy the more expensive scale.

  • I think the biggest thing I've learned from watching u over this year is that its okay for me to make mistakes as long as i keep it all in perspective and pick myself up again.

  • I'm visitin my mom for a month and I went into my tub of "skinny clothes" to take a look. I can fit into the larger of the two sizes in my skinny tub! weee! its not "skinny" but it was my lower weight and I couldnt even squish into the jeans before. so I'm taking it as a win and it's helping me get back on track while I'm here.

Congrats on the size 6.. thats like 12 dress sizes smaller than before. thats nuts girl!

  • would cous cous count as raw cus technically its only in hot water? or sundried tomatoes... are they technically raw? cous cous and sundried tomatoes is one of my faves and I think being as raw as I can would be nice. - as least to try and see if it fits lol.

  • Congrats on your official size 8!

Wow right not I see size 10 as unrealistic for me. I think that if I got to size 12 I would lose my mind! Good job keep up the good work

  • Good job on the 150's!

I was wondering if you could explain more about how your body gets rid of the "bad" when your eating raw foods.

  • youre so small.

    wow.

  • Shanti! your bday is the same as my boyfriends!

How old will you be turning!!! any plans!?

  • way to go!!

  • Remember that apart from the physical detox is the psychological detox. A lot of people experience mood changes and venture into emotional extremes because, on raw, the "gauze" of cooked food is lifted from the mind, and it in turn processes both thoughts and emotions with greater clarity. This is only temporary, and is typically replaced by greater positivity, but can be scary while the process is still happening.

  • wow, fantastic weigh in!!!! congrats!!! spin class, wow that class is a killer! The Raw Food plan is amazing! a friend of mine is off her meds by doing raw! I'm finally on non-processed full steam ahead and no more sugar! yay! as usual, fantastic info, OMG awesome dresses, looking hot girl!! :)

  • happy early birthday!

when i saw this video i thought you were less than that, your arms and legs are so toned!!! You look amazing, keep it up!

thanks to you i can continue to get up after diet and exercise blunders to try again, so far i have lost 23 pounds and i don't think i could have done it without your videos : ) im still going to loose more.

was 196, last sunday was 173. goal weight: 125

  • Happy Birthday in advance!!!! :)

  • Good job! Hopefully it stays in the 150s this time! haha

  • Ugh..I am never going to lose weight. I've been failing at diets for two years now, and because I failed that much I'm not even trying to lose weight anymore and I've lost pretty much all hope for me ever being skinny...Shanti, do u have any advice or a video on weight loss for teens?

  • My Video Response To AntiShay

    watch?v=ObTDkXn8PNQ

  • I can't wait to get to a weight where I honestly can't remember the last time I had been that small or have been that weight!! Congrats, I love all your videos!

  • 2004 I reached my highest of 230

    2007 I was in the 220s

Jan 2008 I was 218.3 (New Year's resolution to lose weight)

    May 2008 I was ~200 (started YouTube)

So from my highest ever was 230 but I consider the starting of this journey (this time) at 218.3

    :D

  • i always break out and get greasy when i change my eating!! i hate it. laaaame.

  • You've certainly come a long way, Shanti. proud of you, girl. =D and lookin good, too! dayum! =P

hmmm, hot 4 halloween... does that mean that by the time i meet you I'll have to where oven mits? damn! =P LOL!

  • Btw, you were rocking those Gucci dresses girl. When you hit your all time goal of 145, you must reward yourself with some couture. ;) I would KILL to fit into and own a bandage dress by Herve Leger... omg. They are so sexy. So I too, need to lose a lot of weight for that dream to become a reality. :(

  • I love watching your videos. <3 xx

  • WOW thats really good congrats so ru a oc girl cause i am well keep up the good work!

  • I am happy for you! Last week u were a little upset but this week u had success. I have lost 40 pounds and you have helped me so continue being on youtube cuz u are very persueding and motivating. please watch a vid of mine cuz i mention u and Jason frequently. Good job, go gurl! BTW ur body is always one to two weeks behind what u are doing so thats maybe why this week your body has caught up from what u were doing last week. take care

  • where did you hear that your body is one to two weeks behind? Just curious because I've been getting frustrated with the lack of improvement I'm seeing.

  • Good message Shanti: Be happy be healthy and do what works for you!

Still love you, blemishes and all!

  • Question, how do you get the "feeling fat out of your head, i have gone up and down, On my way back down again :"' but when i do get smaller i still feel fat..

  • South Coast Plaza is sooooooo ritzy. I've only been at the Boarders and Crate n Barel and the metro point...but I'm glad you treated yourself this way even if you didn't buy anything. Its so commonplace for average to overweight people to treat themselves with food and then go to Old Navy...where as thinner and healthier people treat themselves to more expensive clothing and pampering. I shop at ONavy, by the way. Did Jason try on any dresses?

  • I'm very happy for you. Although you make me feel guilty for still being... 300+. >_>

  • How can you possibly be any hotter than you are now???????????

Greg has got a MASSIVE challenge on his hands cause you look absolutely stunning.

  • :"> Thank you!

  • @antishay YOU LOOKED MORE PRETTY WHEN YOU WERE CHUBY BUT ITS GOOD ALL PEOPLE WANTS TO LOSE WEIGHT,,YOU ARE PRETTY ANYWAYZ

  • a whole 11minutes of antishanty to watch, i've paused it and i'm going to be watching after Big brother UK.

  • I am so jealous of you.

  • AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • CONGRATS TO YOU AND RAW RAW TIME

  • Shanti,Im sooo happy for you! I need to get myself together and start working out and eating healthier!I know how it feels to 250+ It's horrible!SO Im so very happy for you!

  • get a juicer( not a blender, you want the nutricion not the bulk) and juice a few fruit for breakfast then for midday juice a few veg or salad like cucumber, carrot, peppers then have a small soup bowl of pasta and half a tin of tomaotes and maybe some onions after a week your stomach will have shrunk to a point where you don't want to over eat.

  • cont...but get ready for some serious withdrawl symptoms from sugar, and sleepless nights i have found this can be got thru by eating nuts and raisins, i went cold turkey. I have been doing it for 2 weeks and i feel great and my appetite has greatly reduced and i don't have the sugar highs and low of before.

  • I plan on reading the raw food detox diet book, but I had a question. Is all that detox stuff temporary? like the oily hair, breaking out and all that, how long does it last approximately? I'm really interested in the diet, but I'm in the beauty industry so I just want to know what I'd be getting into.

btw, I love your videos and below the yellow line with jason! I watch every week!

  • Shanti! You look like you feel so good! That's nice to see! I am so happy for you :)

  • This is probably my favorite video you have ever made...I love the way you basically say do what works for you people and as long as it is healthy then it is great!!! That is my belief too....we are all different and need to find what works for us personally..and not judge or be dissappointed in others because they choose a different route..great video..and YAYYYYY for being in the 150's wow that is awesome :)

  • Thank you!

  • @antishay

Hey dear i need your help please..help me :(

look 1m62cm as height and my weight is 80kgs!!!!!!

i need to lose atleast 20kgs! Please help me...my body is like u when u were a bit fat.

  • Personal question - are you doing the enemas that Nathalia Rose recommends to lessen the detoxification effects you may be experiencing? That's what I've been reading and contemplating before starting with Raw foods. But HEY - all those toxins gotta get out somehow! Thanks for the great video. So happy to hear you're feeling so great about your body!

  • No I haven't been but I probably should be.

  • way to go shanti. congrats on getting to 150's

  • I commented before I got to the Gucci dresses...you look amazing.

  • Congratulations!!! :D

  • Hej Shanti, I'm so happy that you monitor your progress so steadily which shows where you started and what you did at first, before you got where you are today. I am happy to watch you now, and it helps me immensely to watch your beginnings and what you did. I know a lot about food and stuff but one problem was where to start. You seem to infiltrate me slowly with your positiveness. Staying away from crap food gets easier and easier the longer I follow you. THANK YOU!

  • shanti,

i am loving eating raw. this is the best thing that i have done in my life, and im only 17 years old. =] i bought the raw food detox diet and have been trying out ALL the recipes that are in there. one of my questions would be have you tried the kollar cookies? cause im scared to buy all the cookies that you have to buy online and then not like them. are they good? =]

  • I haven't tried them yet... haven't been able to find them :S

  • @antishay you look AMAZING! wow. congratulations! that must be amazing to feel so much better than you used to :)

  • Shanti, that is so awesome! Way to go to getting to the 150's!

  • Yesterday I run into your old video, 2 parts, with the closet, and trying on clothes. I don't know if you want to do thisor if you moved to california with all of that, but It would be so fun if you'd do the same thing now. Pretty please :)

  • 159.6lbs = 72.54Kg

Either you're very tall either I misunderstood the weight cause you definitely look a lot skinnier.

About videos...upload them DVD 4:3 (the qual great, more flexible).

I would advise everyone to do the raw food but in a less percent. This way is not that scary. This is what I do now.

I saw a documentary on EXPLORER they were saying that one point it lead to a very severe depression. This is what I am so fucking afraid of.

  • yay!!!!!! awesome vid! thank you!

  • love, love your vids. i can relate to wanting to share the benefits of raw with everyone around. i've yet to find anything that works as fast and as amazing as raw but i also know that it can take years for someone to understand and try it.

  • YES 150'S...keep on going

  • hey.. well done on getting to the 150's.. thats great.. i have also been breaking out in blemishes recently and have been wondering what it has been.. i really think i'm detoxing too.. i'm eating so much better now :)

you look amazing in those dresses..

    kirsty x

  • what would i do without you??? thank you.

    have a nice day

  • I appreciate what you said about detoxing and the breaking out. For the last two weeks that I've rejoined weight watchers and I'm eating SO much cleaner, I've been getting spots on my face! And I rarely ever break out so it was a shock to me. I didn't even think that it would be my body detoxing. Thanks for that tidbit of info!

  • well done on your weight loss journey, your doing it the best way to combine healthy eating plus exercise and keep it consistent - hope yur success continues..:0)

  • hehe my sisters birthday is the 20th tooo!!!!! love love love love your videos

  • wow gal u really did very well.. iv been watchn ya 4m da past yr bt finally subscibed ya.. =D

  • Great job. You and Jason are just adorable. I am a 41 year old closeted gay man and I wish I had a friend like you. You are EXTREMELY intelligent and articulate. I love watching your videos.

  • <33

  • I honestly don't know why Antishay don't answer my questions. I posed 2 question to her twice with no avail. I thought she wanted us to ask her any questions that we might have, hence her utube,facebook,myspace... email addresses.. Maybe she is picky as to the questions she responds to. It is quite eccentric really

  • you're not alone there. i feel like i get over looked as well. but she's made friends on here and there are "regulars", and i am sure she gets hundreds of messages and it can be a little overwhelming. but i know what you mean. :0} maybe one of the regulars will say something that relates to what we said and then it might get replied to. but she does have the FAQ page. have you seen it?

  • If I were to pick "regulars," you would be included among them... You are a very active viewer and support for me and I guarantee you I don't take that for granted. See my comment below... I just can't do it all and you have asked a lot of questions. I will get to them as soon as I can.

  • I get hundreds of questions every day... I do my best to answer them, but given that this us a hobby and I have a life, it is honestly impossible to answer them all. I have received your email from August 9th. I an currently still working through emails sent in June, so you'll forgive me if it takes a while to get to yours.

I do respond to every message I get. The questions that I use in videos are chosen on how commonly they are asked and how relavent they are to the popular audience.

  • Gosh if I was in that dressing room and I put on a size 6 and it FIT!! I could completely see myself breaking down in tears. Man that's such an awesome achievement. One day.

  • yeah, i would be in tears too. no doubt about it!! i brake down once in a while even now, when i find myself fitting into medium tops. used to be in 3x.. i can't help but get emotional..

  • Wow really? That's so awesome. I used to be 280 at my highest (started being overweight in 4th grade) and now I'm getting into the 240's and have been there for about a year now. I would love to talk with someone who's in my same situation. So send me a message anytime!

  • I think you should set a 150lb goal & when you hit it (when) then buy yourself a ridiculously outrageously insanely expensive dress. Yes Miss Frugal, I know, spending = bad, but you know what 150 is insane, and justly deserves equally insane attire. I think your 230lb self would agree with me.... :D

  • i agree with you completely.. might even do that for myself once i've reached my goal.. lol

  • sorry, one more.. lol i noticed the oilier hair, skin and blemishes and sweating more during a work out. thank GOD it's not just me.. so that is normal during this detoxification? will it end? the blemishes anyway? i mean, everyone gets a zit, but this is NUTS! i feel like a teen again.

  • totally understand the "star somewhere" thing. i tell people that all the time. i just tell them what i did. it's the little things that count really. they all end up adding up. and since i am past all those things now, it's just time for the next step and that's nothing artificial and going raw. had traded sugar for sweetener and now sweetener for natural. things like that. and TOTALLY get the detox "business" lol it's gross but it means sucess! LOL!!

  • i've just always wanted to do the raw thing. just never knew how to go about it. been kind of scared to do it too i guess. but now i don't see why because it's easier than you would think. i LOVE it! going grocery shopping tomorrow, can't wait! going wholesale.. lol

  • you look so pretty :j

your hard work has paid off!!!

    i'm ju

  • YAY :D!!!!!!!!

  • You're looking great! :)

  • Happy birthday :D

  • Yay congrats on the 150's!

I'm still amazed that I went from barely fitting into a size 30/32 to now a size 8 and the 8's. Very trippy.

    Great vid as usual!!

  • You look great congrats... I began raw foods a few weeks ago and loving it. I also was raised a vegetarian so it easy to give up meat. I was wondering what was going on with my breakouts and sweating.. thank for clearing up the detox issue for me thanks again love your video. You have inspired me to get healthy so far I have lost 10lbs and I feel great!

  • 159lbs..thats bucck********

  • Indeed it is! :D So thrilled.

  • so great to see all your hard work paying off! very inspiring! go girl!

  • Oh my goodness! Thank you so much Shanti! Your note about how the body reacts to detox is exactly what mine seems to be doing now that i've switched to non-processed (for about a month and a bit now) ... i thought that something was wrong and the program wasn't for me when my skin and hair suddenly reacted this way, it never even occurred to me that toxins were escaping .... it was something so obvious... i only thought of "positive" bodily reactions. Not the ones that make you feel like your 13

  • LOL YES ugh it's like puberty all over again, except that this time I can't expect to grow boobs :(

It's all for the better, though :D Keep on doing so well and you'll be all the healthier! Or WE will be, actually - whee. Congratulations to you :)

  • love that grey dress... I wanted to buy it but just like you said they don't make my size... I barely fit a 12 mostly 13/14 but losing more every week. thank you for the motivation

  • you were "lying there"

  • psh

  • you look amazing. You and I have our birthday's 9 days apart. Mine is on August 29/09 your doing amazing. congrats on reaching your lowest weigh isn't it an amazing feeling? I had a baby on June 19/08 and have lost all my baby weight and am 10 lbs from goal. watching you is very inspiring and you are giving me lots of information for my current eating plan thank you for that Angie

  • I love watching your progress, I'm excited for you =D

  • great video, I love the Gucci dresses u tried on , 2nd one was soo pretty! love your positive outtake on life, very motivating! thx.

  • Congrats on breaking into the 150s!! I cant wait until i break into the 160s! Also, have you heard about calorie shifting? (eat 1000 cals one day, 1500 another, 2000 another etc) going up and down to "surprise" your body and keep your metabolism guessing. Its best for people on plateaus, but could still be good for anyone whos already lost a lot, but has slow results.

  • I have heard about and done calorie-shifting. It was a disaster for me and caused many mood swings and irritability... it's got a science to it, but I prefer to not.

  • I can totally relate to that because I am 164 pounds and a size 8 too. being a size 6 would be great. i'm sure youll get there soon.

  • i'm so excited for you, pretty girl! the dresses looked great.

  • looking great in those dresses! you should be SO proud of yourself :) love your videos, keep up the good work! xoxo

  • I hope you have a great b-day!

  • Wow, I'm really happy for you. I actually have a Gucci outlet about 2 miles from my home. I can't wait for the day I can go in and try some of the cloths. I'm 5'9, 169 lbs and a size 10, so hopefully really soon I'll have the confidence to go try some dresses too.

  • I WANT A GUCCI OUTLET!! *jealous*

  • I think you are doing amazing! And how cool is that you were able to get into the Gucci dresses. You looked really good too! Congratulations on all your efforts and achievements. Thank you for inspiring me with your contagious motivation! You go girl!

    ~Mandy

  • Have you talked about your detox in an earlier video? i've been thinking about doing a detox of some kind but i have NO idea how to go about it.

those dresses were killer!! i hate, hate HATE plus size clothing. seriously. My biggest goal in life is to be able to walk into places like Hollister, the Gap, Lucky Brande, express etc... and shop! My first goal is Old Navy! LOL I was there tonight and i can't wait to be able to wear their clothes!

    anyhoo... you are amazing! ((hugs))

  • The Raw Food Detox Diet is all the detoxing.

If I eat at a level 3 (80% raw), I find that I'm not detoxing so much (it's relatively close to how I was eating before) but on the days I eat level 2 (95-100% raw ... I eat that way about 5 days a week) I see/feel my body detoxing RAPIDLY.

I'm presently dancing between level 3 and 2 so as not to detox to fast and start autointoxicity (where you detox too fast). It's a learning experience.

Moving up to any form of cleaner eating will detox you :D

  • congrats Shanti!!!

I'm living in an apartment next fall instead of the college dorm so I'm going to be buying/cooking my own healthy food. I hope to lose 21 pounds by my 21st birthday (Feb 20)

    wish me luck!

  • Good luck!

  • It must feel so so amazing to get into those gorgeous dresses. Being able to fit into beautiful clothes like that is a major driving force in my weight loss. There isn't much for size 20s, that's for sure. I can't wait for my day to get my body into a little Gucci dress.

  • I'm holding out a bottle of water....grab it on your way to the finish line.....I'm cheering you on..............i

  • <33

  • I totally agree with you about the clothing thing

  • you do well for a former coffee drinker, i mean i can swallow 3 large cups of coffee in one night and still sleep like a baby, but i guess it's just i'm so used to caffeine it no longer has any effect on me. and why did you decide to cut coffee for your diet? i've read many articles on this issue, some said you should cut coffee, some said coffee is to be maintained since it eases hunger pangs and after-meal appetite... personally i can't get through the day without.

  • I used to be unable to go a day without at least two cups of coffee (born and raised in Seattle, lol). I started converting one of those cups per day to a caffeinated tea, and eventually replaced all coffee with tea, with an occasional cup here or there. Now I don't have any caffeine.

Recently, I seem to find that coffee is too acidic for my stomach and so I avoid it. It's been several months since I've really drank it regularly, so a shot of espresso is pretty intense :O

    It was a process :)

  • congrats on the 150's! i cant wait to be there. im about the size u started. im like 2 inches shorter than you so if you can be a size 8 so can i. you are so inspirational! and and im really thinking about starting with raw foods... what's the name of that book again?? =)

  • I bet you could easily be a size 6! If you're 5'6'', that's not such a lofty goal :D

The book is The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose <3

  • Yes- one of the biggest signs of detox is through your skin- so a good sign, if somewhat undesirable for aesthetic reasons :) Way to go on the loss- and the size. You look amazing at that size! Way to go- looks like your already hot for Halloween :D
