So did I, a few days ago. Same film - same effect. And sometimes I'm so thankful for these guys, who care for these soundtracks and pick up brilliant jewels of songs, I didn't known before :-)

yes. I too was watching LONESTAR and found this lovely song. I want to know who did the scoring for that film. great pick. funny how i watched that film almost 6 years ago and this song still resonates. I took nothing else from the film because i just happened to be in the room when it was playing. :)
Wonderfull !!! Yesterday I saw on Video the Film "Lone Star". A great Story and such a beautiful Song - so wistful and nostalgic - Thank you for posting !
lone star was on telly a couple of days ago, been wanting to see it for years, with Kristofferson the real bad guy; the soundtrack was on the marketplace - now it's gone; actually this makes me think of Fever, did he do the Original ?
and I shall have the soundtrack, soon; at a decent rate; while searching for it, it just crossed my mind to buy all the artists records that participated - cost me a long, very entertaining night on youtube and other marketplaces; with enough food for thought to tell stories long beyond the movie; the web may be crap, but as usual, just ask the right questions, don't be no dumb ass, go look for the beauty !

this is really great stuff..... a good song transcends the trappings of genre and becomes something a broad spectrum of people can recognize. this is that sort of a song. you'd have to be nearly brain dead not to realize what a good song this was regardless of where you're from, or who you are.
Thanks for posting! I heard this in the Lone Star film, but for some reason you could only hear it on the soundtrack. Little Willie John's cds on Amazon don't have this song for some reason.
Thank you so much for sharing this song! I've loved this number since hearing it in John Sayles' film Lone Star. It's tragic Little Willie John is better known. (Did he predate Sam Cooke? I'm guessing LWJ influenced him, et al...)
Lone Star is one of my favorite movies and this is the best song in it.

Guy has an amazing voice. Not like Jimmy Scott, but like him you can recognize it immediately.
