we did this today in school it was soo fun, our group won with 56cm but the funny thing was is that none of the people in the group were friends... in fact we didnt get allong at all outside of the group! were in yr 8 :)
OMG! Did this today and or class failed. We didn't talk. all we did was try try try again. we had to stop and put it on then build at the base. It was fun and are group didn't win but we had a great time. :)
@EvilerBanana pronunciation varies between dialects and idiolects. Prescriptive grammar is aloof from the real world. Descriptive grammar is much more interesting, in my opinion. Besides, English doesn't have an academy the same way French does.
I've worked several places where idiotic teamwork exercises were forced upon the employees. It didn't deal with any ACTUAL work problems which made the exercises worthless. Hopefully, in time this teambuilding craze will die down and employers will refocus on the actual, real-life issues and problems facing employees on a daily basis and not think things can be solved by BS workshops.
as a TEDtalks addict, i have seen over 95% of all talks uploaded to youtube - and this is the only talk so far i had a smile across my face for the whole talk.
im sad i know too much now about this test to actually do it and see how good i get, but as an engineering undergraduate student i think ill do pretty good.
Loved it, 5 stars if i could, "like" is underastimating this talk
I remember my gr.11 english teacher gave us this challenge... my group bickered and fought over stupid design concepts and I just sat there quietly. Eventually the pretty girl in the group asked "hey josh... what do You think we should do?" and everyone shut-up. My reply was to build a pyramid using 4 marshmallows and then continue to evolve the pyramid shape until we ran out. Everyone was taken aback by this but we did it and modified it as we went along and we beat everyone else. True story.
@classicalheartburn Hmm, that brings to mind the old adage, "Behind every great man is a great woman". Perhaps, all along, it was referring to the fact that smart men get ignored by the mainstream public when pretty women aren't around to ask them for their thoughts (in the meantime, the dumbest are heard simply because they're the loudest). Maybe if I got married, I'd have more subscribers... Damn, back to the drawing board for another project I don't have time for :)
Very interesting presentation. I saw "Autodesk" and of course I assumed this would be related to the many 3D software packages they develop, but I was pleasantly surprised.
I love how he mentioned falure is so important. That's why I hate when people within the government try to keep failures afloat at the expense of us all.

Some people want young white females to mix with non-white males.
I made a one-minute video highlighting a very small sample of race-mixing advertisements.
I love white people, and I am opposed to race-mixing. But I do not hate non-whites.
If you click on my name “awhitesoul2012” highlighted in blue below this comment, you can watch my video.
Thanks.

Simple team building ideas can work but the facilitation has to be really good and meaningful. Tom's a good speaker, enjoyed this.
