It's a plane because in the sunset the plane is leaving vapour trails,which appears orange by the orange sun,as for the going upwards it is simply a visual illusion, that's what I think anyway.

When I was a little boy, I also thought it was a plane going straight up, but this has to do with the perspective. I think most people make this mistake because you haven't got any reference points in the sky, wich makes it hard to see if the plane is going up or comming straight at you. Btw, a plane will never fly up, because it will stall in the sky and then fall down, nose facing the ground and I don't think that you will find a lot of pilots who are willing to try this out :D

I know what it is. this is an reflection, from a rocket that was started on the other side of the globe. the heat from the rocket and the light from the engines, are so strong, that our athmosphere makes a reflektion and then you see it . a russian rocket can be seen as an ufo in USA

That is awfully strange because the plane isn't glowing but that object clearly IS. It may have been a meteor but then I've seen meteors and they don't move that slowly. That is really strange.

The only thing I've ever even heard of that seems remotely close to this, is the Aurora Project, which was thought to be a plane that uses some kind of external combustion. Short of that, I can't think of any other reason a plane would expel a tail of flame over such a long distance behind it's self.

Objects far away near the horizon travelling directly towards you appear to be going straight up. i used to pretend they were rocket ships when i was a kid. I'm a corporate pilot. I see this every day. Its all point of view. This airplane just happens to be coming straight toward you. After it passed you, I'm sure it looked as if it was going straight down. When the sun sets on earth, it hasn't set yet from the point of view of the aircraft so the contrail glows brightly in the setting sun. Up at altitude looking west you can see aircraft contrails up to 400 miles away glowing in the sun that you can't see when the sun is high.

i'm all for UFO's, a fun topic - but this could be an airplane. i did not see anything like this until i moved to the southwest high desert in the usa. airplanes often looked like that & as if they were going - more or less - straight up into the air. maybe our perception of the curvature of space was somehow affected. due to the longitude on the map or how high up the mountains we were? not sure.

In meteorology we seen all kinds of things that would really blow the mind. Espeically in the high atmosphere during sunrise and sunset. Becuase while the light may not be all the way on the ground yet, it's in full view in the higher levels of the atmosphere. Sometimes can even make a prism type effect. There here is a plan with sunlight shining on the comtrail and plane it self.

yep its a plane, i have like an eye for aerodynamics so i could see its flying forward, but its kindof tricky. at 1:51 you can see the outline of the plane. barley. but its the reflection off the contrail when it becomes higly condensed(ice particles forming probably) this in the daytime would look like a plane trailing a huge puffy cloud that even than some people think looks like a shuttle but theres no sonic boom. =D

chemtrails are a proven theory that it cant work. they did a test with a real jet over nevada, and had the jet emergency tanks filled with chemical laced fuel. the chemicals dissolved into the atmosphere before even coming close to the ground. but it would prove useful for weather control if we ever found a way to do so.

If it's in the afternoon then perhaps the exhaust trail is turned orange by the setting sun and the glare of orange on the object is caused the same. However, I have never seen a plane of any kind go straight up like that. Then again, it might have been a trick of the eyes. Cool video regardless.

No problem. The reason I thought it was just a jet being illuminated was the twin exhaust trails that you see left behind from any regular jet. It can't be a NASA launch because you would probably know if it was happening plus a very loud noise. Not a UFO because they don't give off smoke at all. Maybe some of the new jets can go straight up. And like I said, the angle might have just been an illusion where it was really going at a sloped direction.

Actually I'm pretty sure now that the angle was just confused. If you look at the video really good, you can see that it is actually flying toward you, not up. It is just so high that it's hard to tell. Trust me, planes fly over my house a lot cause I live just inland of an airbase. Notice also that all the claims happen at sundown. This surely explains the orange glow. Looks like this one's busted. Keep the video up anyway, it's still a nice looking piece. Besides, I just might be wrong.

About six years ago, stuck in gridlock, driving a big rig in SanJose, at sundown, I saw something VERY simular. I even pulled over to watch. The THING looked like a small space capsule, it went straight up and I swear I watched it go until it became a small star among the rest of the stars coming out. It was definately something headed into orbit, but it looked like two dissipating contrails instead of the typical growing plume of smoke we always see trailing behind rocket launches. what day and time was this? It should be easy enough to look up it was a rocket being launched.

Exactly Rksager, If this is in the UK, then obviously it's not the Shuttle. We do however launch the occassional satellite, especially as our main Tv provider at the moment is a satellite Tv company. They have to make sure that they can keep transmitting, so they probably have spare sats up there just in case.

U can trust me there are no Launches near Birmingham, far as I know the Uk ,just like France and Germany for example, have no institutions that are capable of such a thing. Normally all European satelites are brought into space from the USA or via Baikonur in Russia.
