  • Brazzr- load of Sh** - My Turbo speed limited at 230. Does 0 - 100 kph in 5 secs standard.

    Yappa1987 - Bit over 30 from a dealer, More are hitting the auctions at mid 20's. Brembo Brakes, Lower and tougher suspension. Motor is standard XR6T. Interior has a few marks but no more than any 12 month old car. Only has basic sound system.

  • @zomblewbb G6Et uses the same engine. I test drove one yesterday with all the luxury stuff in it, and in auto. It was a rocket. But i bought the xr6t ute instead, bit lighter and better handling. (my opinion though)

  • @dozza04 it would want to being an FPV mate,even though the FG XR6T is the newer car Ford/FPV cant make the newer model "ford" (not fpv) out do the previous model top of the range car otherwise there will be some pissed people out there,the FG XR6T is most definately quicker in staright line thats for sure,but handling an braking the arsepeck (R-spec,lol) has it all over the FG.coming from an fg xr6t owner

  • I think it sits at between 8-9 ltrs/100km on the highway. Only thing that is better on the BF Typhoon is the brakes, the FG is quicker and has better handling (if both stock).

  • Yes , on paper the GT and HSV V8's show more power but yet the V8's get dusted at the drags by XR6T's / Typhoons all the time (assuming both are stock)

  • I didnt say the V8s are quicker I just said they have more power, the I6T Dominates with its Torque and Lighter weight

  • oh , ok , i should have rephrased it to "quicker than a GT" ...

    It's still strange tho ,, on paper the GT pumps out 315Kw & 551 Nm Torque.

    Yet still the XR6T still pulls away with 270Kw & 533 Nm Torque.

    Maybe it is the lighter weight (GT is 111Kg's more).

  • @billybodybuilder It has nothing to do with peak Kw and peak torque. The GT only makes those figures at 5-6 thousand rpm, the XR6T reaches max torque at 2000rpm. This is why it pulls so hard through the gears and leaves the V8s in its wake. Torque. Peak figures are for marketing only. Ford still market the XR8 as the ultimate performance falcon(non-FPV), I've got the Falcon brochure in front of me. 20Kw more power than the XR6T but is slower everywhere, including stopping and worse handling.

  • Prob find that the xr6t will be worth more in resale down the track as its the last ozzie inline 6, is a "5.2" second car, and maybe the last of the falcons aswell...def worth the money

  • Yes, agreed, but my main purpose for byuing it is simply that for over 23 years i've driven V8's , both Ford & Holden.

    This will be the first time i'll have a car that runs 13's over the 1/4 (ive seen some do high 12's stock too) & can still deliver 8.5 L/100 Kms fuel economy while being a full sized family car that can be driven everyday !

  • @plesat The brembo's are still only good for 2-3 laps of Phillip Island until they fade though, would hate to know how bad the XR6 brakes are.

    The FG is quicker than the BF typhoon. Some have seen the FG pull big numbers stock from a tune and intake. The FG is just a better car, much more perfected. But in a few weeks you'll have a few more forced induction fords to choose from ;)

  • the older falcon's pre 2003 were limited to 180kph, but the commodores didnt have the limiter so could go faster than that (bout 220kph)

    one example of where this it true is the mid 90's EF and EL falcons, limited to 180, i think because of such a large prop shaft which wasnt balanced at the factory, with a risk of failure at higher speeds? not 100% sure

  • I've got an auto FG Xr6T stock with alloy wheel spare, premium sound (so sub in the back), and was half full tank, could only manage 0-100 in 6 seconds.

    It's an auto, and was warmed up on a side road..

    What setup are you having here that's different? It doesn't look like you put your foot flat on the accelerator at launch, or it would have revved differently.

  • Stock as a rock mate.

    With traction control on, just put the foot fully to the floor, that's it! Didn't even warm the tyres up.

    Are you sure you had it in performance mode? That's the only thing I can think of.

  • Foot flat from 0km/h? Someone mentioned it may be a good idea to put the handbreak on, rev it up to ~3000 revs with other foot on break, then launch.

    Also, what's performance mode? Is there a setting to change this? I simply thought it was either "auto" or "semi-auto" (where you change gears yourself)? Are there more settings accessible in the dash?

    I only got the vehicle 2 weeks ago, but it's an ex demo so has a few kilometres..

  • forget about the handbreak, maybe just right foot on break then stall it up to about 1800rpm then floor it( see my other video)

    I got 5 sec flat this way.

    Performance is mode is the semi-auto mode, but dont change the gears yourself. It revs out perfectly when the gearbox does the changes.Much faster!

  • Hey? I didn't know that.. so if I move the gearstick to sequential, it'll change gears for me in the high revs anyway? Didn't know that.

    Sweet, so around 1800rpm? I'll give that a go. I live in NT, so many wide open roads here, it's awesome to take the car out for a bit and test it out.

    Does it matter about how much weight is in the car? How much fuel (like full or half tank, etc)? Should I take out the alloy spare wheel?

  • Shouldn't matter much about weight, I never worried about how much fuel I had or anything but was always alone. When wheels tested them they got 5.1 sec with two people and half a tank of fuel.

    Maybe the heat up there has something to do with it, see how you go with my advice.

  • Haha yep, i understood. No worries mate. And yeha, it was during the night though, so was around 10 degrees outside. Probably a bit dangerous to do it at night, but with temperatures around high 30's here, or it raining during the day, it's hard to do it otherwise.

    Might need a bigger air intake - haha.

  • doesn't the transmission also adjust to your driving style in performance mode? i took one for a test drive the other day and i was seriously blown away by the power difference from BA to FG. its just so much better in so many ways. especially exhaust note. so much more angrier sounding even at idle.

Thats all good and well, but only a minority of the c'dores are V8's - the staple engine in their line up, and for the majority of their vehicles, is their V6's - my original quote was re: fords inline 6 - and if holden t/c a V6, it may get the power of the ford, but not the torque or the refinement... and last I checked, ford wasnt pulling out of the v8 game either? and yep... awesome machine is the xr6 :D

    yeah but the majority of fords arent turbos and that isnt what i was getting at anyway what i was really talking about i guess is that the f6 is better than the gt because it puts out a similar amount of power as the v8 but is lighter, meaning as many people acknowlede that the v8 is sort of pointless. and if your talking about just the tent post motors from the two isnt the current ve's engine 15kW over the standard i6 from ford?

    well you didnt make your point clear... anyways, this post is on an XR6T.. not an F6, or a V8.. Holdens advantage, I dont believe is 15kw over the I6 in standard form... either way, its not outright power, but torque thats the key..something which falcon has always had over c'dore...I agree though, the 6's are better than fords current V8.. soon to change though. In regards to refinement, peak power, torque delivery and longevity - you just cant beat the I6

  • From this video it goes from 0-100km/h in a shade under 6 seconds (around 3-9 seconds in the vid) which is about right.

  • And i got an BF XT that does the 0-100 in around 6 secs. No Turbo, no body kit, no alloys , no spoilers, sure FG Turbo pulls harder after 100 k's, but up to 100, not much in it. Type in "BF XT 0-120" time it and see for yourself, Cheers :)

  • Well that ones there is a manual, look closely , it loses a lot of time when he hits the clutch.

    The auto is much quicker when it comes to acceleration for 0-100's or 1/4 mile times.

    And yeah you're right , up to the driver for a manual.

    plus the 0-100 times in the auto and man isnt realy that much diff as the launch assist is what alot of the turbos are using to push the 4.8sec mark to 100 and a 12.8 1/4 hmmm

  • It's an auto. The dash says "D", which is the default setting for the Sequential Sports Shift Automatic gearbox (he left it in full auto, otherwise it would have read the gear number if sequential or manual).

  • I rkn my BA XR6 is quicker than that. I have a full exhaust, airbox, underdrives and custom tune and run 14.3 down the 1/4 and that is with standard cams and diff. Will be able to get 13.8 with a diff upgrade and cams and a custom tune.

  • fg xr6 turbo's do 13.4 down the quarter stock and 0-100 in 5.1 . Read any of the reviews on the net my friend, it's there in black and white. My best is 5 sec & 13.1 using g-tech, 100% stock.
