At the end of the day it's about talent. And these girls may not be video sexy, have fab abs and dress half naked but their talents and songs speak volumes.
@tantorss #1: I'm a teenager from Canada. #2: Who the hell do you think you are telling people that being gay isn't ok? And they aren't trying to "shame and bash" anyone...they are extremely talented musicians who make assholes like you look like an idiot. No one should be judged based on their sexuality and whether they are gay or not. So shut the fuck up and stop commenting rude shit about women.
oh my goddess yes the accordian player is SO HOT!!!!! sigh. i wanna become the Third Indigo GIrl and tour with them, and bunk with the accordian player! or Emily, or Amy...or all three!!!!!
@ladyvanessa14 Well, I'm straight :-), but I agree - I'd love to see Julie Wolf as the "third Indigo Girl". I think they're all absolutely terrific together.
Why are gay people more likely to listen to music played by gay people?
It's not like this is played all throughout gay clubs everywhere -- there's nothing stereotypically gay about which would attract some people. Still, I see plenty of lesbianesque comments.
@mwtillotson Gay people are a marginalised minority surrounded by a much more powerful (and often abusive) dominant heteronormative culture. We get heteronormative stuff shoved down our throats 24/7. It doesn't follow that all lesbians like The Indigo Girls, but lots of LGBTQ people are inclined to be supportive of openly gay musicians/artists, because they're as rare as hen's teeth, and because they generally aren't limiting their art to boy-meets-girl stuff, the way straight artists tend to.
@mwtillotson Gay people listen to music of all genres, created by people of all orientations. However they do often support openly gay artists; perhaps it would make more sense to you if you thought of this in terms of being from a small, belittled, unglamorous country town, and seeing a local band make it big. Even if their music isn't your cup of tea, you'll feel some pride in their success, especially if you and they get belittled & threatened on a daily basis by the 'normal' folks.
22 years now?!!! Wish I'd known their music 22 years ago, then. This was my fave song of theirs at age 19 out on my own for the first time (finally, haha!!), and with a lady (knowingly) tucked deep in my heart..........
Question: What Key are the Indigo Girls singing "Closer to Fine" in????
Answer: The Key of A. While all their chording looks like Key of G chording they've got a capo on the second fret and that modulates all chording to the actual Key of A.
@alexakasandee That's Julie Wolf, She's amazing. Check out her cd walking the worn out floor. Lots of blues music. I met her on an Olivia Cruise with her twin sister Kate, both are equally beautiful and talented.
@cainanuk lol, even in the old atlanta and athens club scene of the early 80's everyone knew they were lesbians, so i dont think it's a matter of them coming out years ago as it is perhaps the statement that they were never "in". but wgaf, ya know. their music isnt about gay straight or dendrophiliac for that matter, it's about universal ideals: love, truth, pain, loss and somehow finding your way through the miasma that is life.
@Ratgirl999 the accordion player is called Julie Wolf. She was again supporting the Indigo Girls last week when I saw them live in Atlanta. I think they are just starting a new tour so may head your way!
