you would think, but you must ride the hidden path and get a stand-still miniboost. you can then get around the jump. oh, by the way, there is only one big jump there.

When you stand an press 1+2 (on the WiiMote), A+B (on WiiMote+Nunchuck), a+b (on the Classic) or A+B (on the GameCube-Controller), you can do Mini-Turbos
