  • Could I use natural yogurt made with pasteurized milk?

  • What do you think of using just whey instead of yogurt? I have lots of leftover whey!

  • Will it work with Yams and Sweet Potatoes also? I came across your video looking for info on if I could pickle potatoes in my fermenting jars with my Sauerkraut. My Kefir cultures are growing also and producing more Kefir so I may try the mashed fermented potatoes only I would rather use Sweet Potatoes.

  • i hav an odd question. but will help me understand.. if i put some vegies,, starches,, & fruits,, in a blinder an with some acidophilus pills.. i could leave it on the counter 2 days (no frig) an drink it an it would be good for me. or do i need kifer, raw milk ect. or are my food combinations vegies wit starches a bad idea?? tks

  • I have been using homemade whey and Real brand salt to ferment baked sweet potatoes. This is interesting, it would be less work to just pour whole yogurt (and salt) over the potatoes rather than seperating the whey.

  • I too wondered if you are meant to eat it cold or warm. But if you heat it, all the good bacteria would die.

  • Also, does one have to put the salt in it in order for it to ferment, or would the kefir or raw milk yogurt suffice? If the salt is not needed to ferment the potatoes, I think I'd like to add a bit of salt after I put the potatoes on my plate. Just wondering. Thanks!

  • What does this taste like? Also, I just heard that sweet potatoes need to be fermented to reduce phytic acid. Have you heard of this?

  • this book you always mention- Nourishing Traditions - who is it by can you message me a link to it on here? I am trying to find it in my library and I found about 10 books all with the same name, all by different authors. -.-

    ps.. Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Hi Sarah,

Just some questions. Should we eat this warm or cold? And what do you think about adding vinegar, to make it taste something like potato salad? Would vinegar kill the beneficial bacteria? Thanks.
