  • The boy's voice throughout the song is actually a sample from another great Susumu Hirasawa song called Rubedo. Check it out!

  • @eatthatmeatball I still prefer this one to that song

  • I want to run.

  • thanks for uploading =)

  • The soundtrack to one of the most beautiful scenes in one of the most beautiful movies

  • Every time i hear this song it makes me so happy. Makes me want to escape and just run away... love it.

  • Man this song is so great! I loved it in the movie.. it fit in perfectly.

  • Is this in Thai? I don't know the language, but I know that Chiyoko's Theme is in Thai....

  • what i hear:

    AAAAAAAHHHHLALALALA

    O ELLO OHWHOA

  • @fromstart2finish haha, that cracked me up xD that's exactly what I hear too.

  • @fromstart2finish

Hahahaha that made me laugh my ass off, still a kick ass song though ^_^

  • once moved to tears by your animes, I was once again moved to tears by the news of your sudden death and your last words.

You will always remain in my heart, as a genius who had too many ideas for his too short life.

Now I see you escaping toward this smooth and sparkling light as Chiyoko, ending, as her, a brilliant and complete life.

Thank you for the joy you gave us, for the tears, the laughs, all these emotions. thank you for everything. I will pray for you from France

    Rest in peace

  • @indochina92 Beautiful really quite beautiful, couldent say it better myself

  • @indochina92 what were his last words :( i must know <3 *crys*

  • @kathynia16x3x08 for you and all those who want to read it, just write "satoshi kon last words" in google, and click on the website of Makiko Itoh. there it is.

  • @indochina92 i as well was brought to tears from the news of his death, why does it have to be people like him who die much before their time?

  • RIP from japan

  • Even though the soundtrack is good, I'd still rather listen to Philosopher's Propellor (most of the soundtrack pieces are reconstructed instrumentals from that album).

  • I just saw Millennium Actress and I think it may be one of my favourite movies ever.

  • satoshi kon... master.... RIP

  • It sounds bring to my mind running throughout vast mountainous terrains. Remembering the times gone by, what times have yet to come and meeting new people in a seemingly endless journey of wonders...

This song makes me very nostalgic... so much so millions of memories flash before me, and remind me there is so much more still to come! So you must never give up. For however many mountains exist... there will always be the wonderful, fierce and nurturing Earth that the mountains sit atop.

  • Satoshi Kon may no long be with us, but Suzumu Hirasawa lives on and will continue making music like this. Be sure to pay his site a visit at noroomDOT susumuhirasawaDOTcom if you haven't already. He was one of Satoshi Kon's favorite musicians.

  • tragedy

  • I just saw Millennium Actress after I heared about his death... when this song came I started to cry...

  • @noobzocker I saw this film for the first timeafter his death also - I thought I'd better buy one of the few films of his that I did not have, and saw if for £4 on amazon...the whole film gave me a lump in my throat...partly the beauty of the music and Kon's style and the plot and partly the tragedy of his death...he could have doen so much more, but still left behind a great legacy...RIP

  • Kon (the director) just died last night =(

    he directed this movie

    paprika

    tokyo godfathers

    perfect blue

    paranoia agent

    to name a few

this song takes on new meaning now that the genius behind the masterpiece has passed on

    may he RIP

  • A hundred miles an hour down the highway with this playing.

    Oh yeah

  • Such a great piece of music. I actually hum this song while riding on my bike.

Oh, and such a great and tragic story- really tugs at the heart strings.

  • does anyone know where to get this online cuz its not on iTunes and i want it bad!!!

  • I'm addicted to this song. Fav'd.

  • Wow, a perfect blend of techno and oriental music, really freakin awesome!

  • Ghibli is my favorite animation studio, so I never thought anything could surprass it in epicness. Millenium actress was amazing though. I thought that maybe I could try some more out of Ghibli animations.

  • God this movie is an emotional rollercoaster, in no small part due to the incredible soundtrack. You rock Susumu!

  • Susumu Hirasawa is a musical genius, there is nobody I know that makes music like this.

  • If I just heard this song without knowing what it was from, I'd probably think it was a pretty cool song.... but remembering the scene in the movie when it played, oh man, this is pulling at my heart strings in a big way. So emotional....

  • Makes me want to run.

  • Extragavanza! great song

  • this is played when chiyoko ran after the guy in the snow right?

  • This is such a happy song! I feel nostalgia at 1:35-ish to 2:10-ish. :D

  • I love this movie! Aand this song, and scene. lol. It makes me tear up for some reason. It's just so happy. :)

  • i feel the same exact way

  • every time i hear this song....my heart just crumbles in my chest.

  • @aaajang

Truer words were never spoken. Exactly what I feel.

  • Comment removed

  • I adore this song as well as Lotus-2! Susumu Hirasawa and Satoshi Kon are simply the best.

  • This song makes me feel that if I were old and remembered my youth, I wouldn't feel bad that I couldn't go back and be young again. It's so powerful because I know I experienced something so amazing during my lifetime. It would stay with me and and that's how I want to live. That's also how I want to die. All this might sound cliche, but for some reason whenever I hear this song it seems rewritten.

  • super .i love the song

  • awesome! awesome! AWESOME!! T^T

  • the movie was beautiful and so was the soundtrack.

  • this song is beyond AWESOME.

    movie too!

  • This was my favorite song from Millenium Actress.

  • im searching for great anime movies like paprika and this one.

    can someone recommend me some?

  • You can try "Perfect Blue"" the first anime from Satoshi Kon.

  • Great film :]

  • tokyo godfathers

    its also by satoshi kon

  • Metropolis, Steamboy, Memories, Mind Game, Angels Egg.. and pretty much anything by Studio Ghibli.

  • tekkonkinkreet is a beautiful anime, really interesting, both visually and plot wise and all of hayao miyazaki's films are briliant, my top favorites are princess mononoke and howls moving castle if you havent alrieady seen them.

  • Consider watching the mini series 'Paranoia Agent'. It's, I believe, Satoshi Kon's first foray into television. I think he was also in some anthology, but I don't recall if it was on TV.

  • gahh i LOVE this song + the movie. :']

  • I love the movie it's one of my favourites <3<3

  • This is the best song from the soundtrack!!! Love this movie and Satoshi Kon!!!

  • Beautiful soundtrack, just what I expected from Hirasawa :3

  • この映画はスーパ良いです!

  • good sound !! good movie!!! :)

  • The beautiful of MA is that in the first half you can say "Nothing special", but in the second half (exactly from this song) you understand you're totally wrong and the final part is incredibly awesome and so touching.

  • Maybe, this song doesn't give the idea without appropriate images, but it's really beautiful!

Here, in Italy, this film was realesed dubbed just this month (!!!) and I can say it's one of my favourite animation film along side with Paprika! Satoshi Kon always put a film totally different from the other and all of these are animation... Stunning! In comparison, Miyazaki is boring!

  • WRONG!... I love Satoshi Kon, but Miyazaki is an untouchable animation director... His movies are near-reaching the levels of Kurosawa...

  • I love Miyazaki too, and in Italy Ponyo will be released on March (I can't wait). I repute Kon a bit more artistic, he put constrast in fantasy and magical world with realistic characters' style and he perpetually tries new things. One (Miyazaki or Kon) is well far from the other.

  • And, by the way, the one who give you a +1 is me :) I can be concord to your comment.

  • RichardHannay: that`s not true, Kurosawa was a master of cinema, Myazaki is great but Kurosawa is Kurosawa (Rashomon, Yojimbo, seven samurai, ikiru, Throne Of Blood , Ran, Dersu uzala, The Bad Sleep Well, High And Low, Stray Dog). Isao Takahata is better than Miyazaki actually, Grave of the fireflies really impressed Kurosawa and to me is the best animation movie ever made.

  • Notice I said "near reaching" and not *the same level*... And frankly, I don't like Isao Takahata's take on animation... Yup, he's a great director and all, but his movies are far too somber and grounded to be made in animation... He oughto direct live-action films instead which I think he's better suited for (if he tries)...

  • I think they're all great in their own right. Now quit arguing and enjoy the music =P.

  • Like the movie. I Like the soundtracks. enough said :)

  • THIS SONG MAKES ME SOOO HAPPY!!!!! <3

  • Enigma(popular for Return to Innocence) should have worked with...amazing

  • Beautifull song and even more beautifull movie.

  • Susumu's yodel (as I jokingly call it) is so distinctive in every song he makes.

  • I just found my vhs of Millenium Actress today. I just watched the movie for the first time in years, and the movie is still amazing.

Such a beautiful song, it fits the movie perfectly.

  • This scene, where she is riding through time, is one of the best scene's in the movie. It really gives a feel for the story.

  • It's just sound, no vocals, yet it's so inspiring!

  • no lyrics*

  • This is so fucking wonderful, thank you!

  • I love how Susumu Hirasawa can make such wonderful mixes with instruments and vocaled tunes :]

  • Me too! :)

  • Susumu Hirasawa can do instrumentals just as well as he can vocal pieces, or remixes. Everything he touches turns to gold.

  • @KazuoKiriyama666 like daft punk

  • beautiful sounding song.

    makes me think joyfuly!

  • I FINALLY FOUND IT

I love this song to DEATH thank you so much for posting it!!!!

  • lol my mom got herself the soundtrack cuz she luvs this guy and she downloaded it to every1s mp3players

  • Fantastic, as always.

  • I adore how if you listen close you can hear the more traditional aspects of the song, and if you just relax the new and traditional blend into one :)

  • i love this song! this helps me run (i'm training to become a runner... lol)! and it helps me draw too! it's a great song! ^-^

  • me too!! XD

  • its so cool to hear everyones comments about this song, and how it effects your life and how it inspires you. all of you have good taste in music. Susumu Hirasawa is one of the gods in music. KEEP RUNNING

  • when i listen to this it makes me color my art faster!!

  • what other versions

  • I don't know why, but this song makes me extremely happy! I have to download it so that I can listen to it when they make me run in school! XD

  • i love this song also, i always listen to this when i sk8 down the San Francisco hills. running away from reality. Love both versions

  • im not emo, but its got kinda melanchly undertones too it. like a last grasp at something before shit goes crazy.

  • yo this is a remix of his other song rubedo without lyrics. awesome

  • I love this song, but I can never play it out loud because everyone who hasn't seen the movie thinks it's weird.

  • This is my song

  • i just wanna run with this song! so amazing! i feel so happy when i listen to it!

  • things song makes me want to exercise yay!!!!! (lol i am so strange)
