  • And what? Even Orthodoxy before the split even sent high cases for Rome to decide. Rome was considered the most Orthodox well into the 7th century CE. Only after the Charlamagne debacle and some further inovations was that view somewhat changed. In Antioch it was the 12th century before the Pope of Rome was removed from the list of Orthodox bishops.

  • of course this is not Orthodox

  • is this orthodox?

  • @MLGMajorityFFA It is Catholic.

  • @MLGMajorityFFA Its Catholic but not Roman Catholic, its at a GREEK MELKITE Catholic Church but the service is from the MARONITE Catholic liturgy.

  • This is really a great video.

  • The Byzantine churches (which includes Melkites) celebrate the Liturgy behind the iconostasis. However, since this was a Maronite Liturgy (celebrated at a Melkite church!), the Liturgy was conducted in the Maronite tradition, which does not have an iconostasis.

  • I'm Orthodox, so I'm at a bit of a loss why the Liturgy is not being celebrated behind the iconostasis. Is this not part of the Melkite Catholic tradition?

  • @hamartolos1 No, that is orthodox tradition... catholics have others.

  • @ThaTruthSpeaker The Melkite Liturgy, Iconography, Hmynography, and even theology (except the view of the Latin Church and the Pope of Rome) is the same as our Antiochian Greek Orthodox Mother Church. There is talk of reuniting the dual Patriarchate into one again. Our union with Rome current presents this but it's moving ever closer more so than the Orthodox/Catholic dialogue. We've been seperated from each other since 1724 AD

  • @stevennewnan The Orthodox Church is the only treu Church of God

  • @ThaTruthSpeaker We are Orthodox but Orthodox in union with Rome.

  • @stevennewnan You are? i did not know.

Do you have the same teachings as orthodox?

How can you unite with Rome, when they teach heretical things?

  • @ThaTruthSpeaker Easy because like in the first thousand years of Christianity we view the latin Churches dogma as a different way of doing the same things or a different emphasis. Though we only accept the first 7 Ecumenical Councils as ecumenical.

  • @stevennewnan So you are in union with Rome, yet holding on orthodox traditions and not accepting all teachings of the Roman church?

  • @ThaTruthSpeaker That is correct. There is a clause which allows this as part of our union agreement. We aren't eastern rite roman catholics, but an independent apostolic church in union with the pope of rome.

  • @stevennewnan And what about your relations with the orthodox churches?

  • @ThaTruthSpeaker With our mother Antiochian Greek Orthodox Church the relationship is extremely close so close in fact both were trying to hash out a reunion while we maintain our union with Rome. That union with Rome is the ONLY thing that keeps us out of full communion with each other.

  • @stevennewnan very intresting... very intresting.....

And your union with Rome is so important, because....?

  • @ThaTruthSpeaker Rome is First among Bishops, the Vicar of Christ, and successor to St.Peter in the primary, we Antiochians are also ofrom st.Peter but not like the Pope of Rome.

  • @stevennewnan The bishop of antioch was consecrated before the bishop of rome, the roman catholic church acknowledges this.

  • @ThaTruthSpeaker No kidding but Im more of a evolutionist and skeptic so Church dogma isnt my thing.

  • @stevennewnan St. Peter was in Antioch first. The Throne of Antioch is called "Twice Blessed " because of St.Peter and St. Paul, St. Peter belongs to all Christians.

  • @Ettoredipugnar Yes right again but so is Rome since both died and are buried there.

  • @stevennewnan and ?

  • thanks for sharing

  • I love visiting the Melkite Church and Maronite Church here in Akron, Ohio. We are lucky here because locally (within a half hour drive) we have Roman, Melkite, Maronite, Ukrainian, Romanian and Ruthenian Rites. ROMAN CATHOLICS VISIT YOUR LOCAL EASTERN CATHOLIC CHURCHES!!!! If you don't you miss out in the TRUE FULLNESS OF THE CATHOLIC FAITH!!!! Glory to Jesus Christ!

  • I've always wanted to hear Syriac spoken in a Byzantine church. But those green books the Maronite Church in America uses are so infuriating! They are nearly impossible to follow, and the Melkite Byzantine Church books, despite having a new kontakion and troparion every Sunday are much easier to use.

  • Maronite liturgy at a Melkite Church? Melkites are Greek Catholics, no?

  • Yes, we are Greek Catholics. The priest from Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic Church in Waterbury CT, Rev. Naji Kiwan, celebrated the Maronite Liturgy at our church in Waterford CT, and the previous month, our priest, Rev. Edward Kakaty, celebrated the Melkite Liturgy at Our Lady of Lebanon Church.

  • @gmassad Long live the catholic unity! :D

  • @gmassad Still kind of confused. Maronites are more or less Lebanese Catholic, not Roman Catholic though in full communion with the pope. Melkites are different, eh? I have a Melkite church handbook, two different ones actually. Oddly enough I was baptized at 'Our Lady of Lebanon' Roman Catholic church in Niagara Falls, NY. This past year I've dove head first into Byzantine & Eastern Catholic literature. Also a ton of Orthodox literature. I love these churches!!!
