  • Im addicted to perks and viks... I take any kinda pill I could get my hand on.,., I didn't do it for pain..... I did it cause they saved me I didn't know how to. Cope and wanted to die cause I was sexually abused my mom was a crack addicte my mom would always tell me she wanted me dead and I was nothing... And this went on for years at first it was only cutting then my mom started giving me he perks from her perscrition and I though these things made me feel better so I'm not always hurting so

  • Tramadol

  • In Georgia, they have to take you at the emergency room, so you don't need insurance. I was hit by a car 16 years ago and only take mild pain meds. I refused to take too many pills even though I've been in pain, but regardless, you're situation. GET TO REHAB!!!! OR DIE!!!

  • I got prescribed oxy 40s & then 80s 5 years ago when I fell off a scaffold. Here we are 5 years later & im still on pain meds(30s) cauz i have no insurance for detox or rehab & i looked @ paying cash for a short term rehab & it was 1800 a day. The most i can go is a day without them if im lucky but its tough it really is but im so tired of this shit. I feel in my mind I know I can do it but especially when ur out of work & they're available, I gotta find a way.

  • What worked best for me was slowly reduce the dosage, eventually down to nothing and be sure to keep your mind on other things. Try some addiction help lines you find on google they got some people who are just there to help. I had a number for a guy who helped my friend a few months a go but I forgot the number. But what seemed to help my friend was have someone to talk to about it. Anyways I never have been addicted to any type of pain meds so I wouldn't be able to say from direct experience.

  • @WildSecks I appreciate your kind words and advice. I should probably make some type of follow up video cause I've now been off all pain meds for over a year now, I got off them in February of 2010. I agree that talking about it is the most important thing, thats why I made my videos about my condition and different perils. Glad you are off them too, its a horrible way to live. Again, thank you for your caring remarks, it means a lot to get support from people I don't even know.

    Peace,

    J

  • @Assassinator41 Yea I probably should have checked when this was posted lol. Anyway I'm happy to hear it worked out for you.

  • smoke weed

  • 25 years con eroina ,cocaina. IV of course.

Today 10mg methadone and OC.80 and Depalgos 20/325 ( brand EU your Percocet) Oxycodone e paracetamol.

    Methadone is POISON!!!!!!

    Good lucky men

  • @riddick074 ive been hooked on blow for 2 yrs sniffin it... now i wanna get off it so im triing oxy to get off it todays was first time trying oxy i go a 40 and it fucked my shit up for bout 3 hours im coming down now i figure im just gunna do one 40 every friday for about a month then stop that and hopefully i stop coke ... i think i will soon its been a battle i tell yeh

  • I hope you get well. You look kinda cute, Yeah I'm gay. I am on Methadone bro. \

Talk to me, if you wanna talk.

  • Sorry to add fuel to the fire. I am just stating my experience, but I was not a chronic pain sufferer. I was an addict and I had to use some drastic measures to get off or lose my life. Literally. You are in a different boat and I pray for your struggle. Mine was self induced, yours is not.

  • @19gonzaga99 I really appreciate it man. I've been off narcotics since February and intend to stay off. Even though my situation causes me, and will cause me pain for the rest of my life, being on those horrible pills is no way to live. I've got to deal with the pain in other ways and like you said, be true to myself, I know its wrong to keep taking em, thats why I cold turkeyed back in February and have been clean since. Your ordeal sounds horrible also, I hope you are doing well

  • Valiums and Immodium AD. If that doesn't work, crystal meth.

  • @19gonzaga99 I do take Immodium, as far as Vailums or crystal meth no thanks, lol, but thanks for the "advice".

    Peace,

    J

  • @Assassinator41 What I meant, was if you try quitting again like you did for 19 days, take lots of Immodium AD but only a couple Valium occasionally for sleep. If you google "home Detox" remedies, those two things are the most recommended. Do NOT be take Immodium AD while on Methadone.

  • @Assassinator41 The C'meth part was accident. I hated my life but still forced to get M'done after 2 years and 60mg daily. One day my M'done supplier didn't have any but had a gram of Meth instead and it was far cheaper. 3 days later unbelievably and miraculously I was off Methadone. No sleep of course, but I didn't want sleep either and the desire was gone. I still have some desire for C'meth but hey 2 years later no M'done, no Opiates, nothing. I'm free! Best thing to ever happen to me

  • @19gonzaga99 and continue to stay sober. My thoughts are with you and if you ever need to talk just hit me up. Good luck and stay strong.

    Peace,

    J

  • @Assassinator41

dude lucky! I take methadone 15years old. now I am ' taking 10 mg ' I help with Oxy.

Methadone withdrawn hell in earth. I tossicodipende 25 years old.

  • It's the abusers and idiots like talk show putz that made my life hell for almost three years and docs too scared to give me high enough doses. Thank god for MRIs and nerve conduction tests. Otherwise I would be dead. Are you working still having a near normal life. I did until got poisoned by Zinc. Due to all teeth broken I had to get flipper to replace top 6 teeth. The cream had tons of Zinc in it they knew it and have killed us. Good luck good life.

  • @Davesintexas I've been off narcotics for almost 7 months now, I appreciate your kind words and I hope everything goes well with you too.

    Peace,

    J

  • Can be used for life where your meds have Tylenol and WILL damage your liver if not already. So you must change try to speak to doctor about lower dose MS like 20-30-60? And you can get Quick acting MS in 15 mg like my break thrus. It's too bad people don't know we don't get high on meds just feel normal without the pain

  • Sorry to hear your problem. Been on MSContin for 14 years due to two bad car accidents spine damages. First be happy you can get your meds. It took me almost three years to finally find a real chronic pain doctor. Back then they were not there or rare. Side effects of MS Contin are bad constipation, take softeners, extreme dry mouth, keep water bottle handy, have been on same high dose 600mg for 13 years this year had to ask for break thru meds between 8 hour doses. I do know MS can be used li

  • Why I say this is because I a a certifide tech. In no way am I advocating myself as a RPH. But just as what I see. My ex Girlfriend's mom was prescribed Oxycontin. We dated when I was 15-22. As a dumb and ignorant kid we used to snort them No, I will not lie they make you feel great. But be safe and may god speed any recovery you may have. PS this was done by an acient phone sorry for mistakes.

  • Oxycodone and Oxycontin are the same thing... Just as Morphine is the same as MS Contin. (Spelling might be wrong, I had it but it left me).

  • bowels! i have no idea what that does to someone with a collostomy(sp?) bag, but i doubt it's good. Dr. Drew (the tv rehab guy) says that living with the pain is far better than the side effects and risks of taking the meds. I'm beginning to believe him. Like you my insurance left so most of my money goes to Dr. visits and meds. It has cost me my job, my ability to sleep unassisted by a breathing machine at night, and it consumes much of my thoughts. Pain meds are literal damnation. How are u?

  • @jeremyfinch I'm doin the best I can and I totally agree, pain meds are damnation and once you detox you never want to touch em again. I hope you are doing well, you seem to have gone through much of what I had as far as pain and side effects go. I just put up a new video, I've been completely med free for about a month now, so we'll see what happens. Hang in there and stay strong!

    Peace,

    J

  • your condition is much worse in a lot of ways than mine. i have CMT--a form of MS that may lead to loss of use in my extremities. i'm prescribed 8 oxycodone/day 30mg each, but i take double that...have gone through withdrawals many, many times. This is what i've concluded, either you get some care-giver to administer your drugs keeping the rest under lock and key or you learn to live with the pain and get off them, or, you OD and/or die of complications. as you WELL know these drug affect the

  • I am extremely addicted to percocet 30mgs and I hope you can get sober..I've been trying for over a year with no luck. But make sure you are careful stopping because of withdrawals.

  • please be careful for addiction, dependence, risks. i take oxycodone for severe chronic nerve pains in my HEAD caused by ssri withdrawals that have damaged my CNS perhaps permanently. please try your best to stay off drugs and never take anything mind altering. some people need releif like me and you but just be careful. you're young.

  • I'm actually in the process of weening off most of my meds, all the narcotic ones at least. I just finished my 6th surgery and am now recovering.

  • what drugs are you taking?

  • Right now an anti diarrhea a couple other things for my UC, but the pain medication is what I'm in the process of weening off of and its really hard but SO SO worth it.

  • how long have you taken oxycodone and is it slow or fast release and what dosage?.

  • Its normal release and with 6 surgeries over 10 years of UC I've been on and off of different pain meds for probably around 8 years with different doses.

  • so normal release is the fast release which acts quickly and lasts only a few hours right?. i was put on oxycodone long and short acting for chronic nerve pains in my head due to ssri withdrawal head pains. i got off the long acting but still on short acting. my cns is super sensetive and in my case impossible to stop due to damage of ssri's. i think you'll make it. do you remember how you felt before the drugs?. how do you feel psychologically?.

  • Well obviously the withdrawal factors suck and my doctors weren't super against leaving me on meds cause like I said, after 10 surgeries and this whole battle I'm still in QUITE a bit of pain, but for my sake I needed and wanted to get off. I'm starting to normalize a little but the road is long ahead. I'm sorry you are still on your meds, I would sugest, although I can't judge how bad your pain is, is to deal with it with something else, staying on these things forever will kill you quick.

  • Good luck to you!

    Peace,

    J

  • thanks. and good luck to you and hope you a healthy life free of this drug.

  • Thanks, to you too man. I will hope for you to be able to get off this stuff too, its so very hard but so so worth it.

    Peace,

    J

  • @Assassinator41 thanks for the courage and help. you will make it. i hope i will too. we must fight for our life. peace.

  • @Draziom203 You will make it! Don't thank me for courage, if you can even say you hope to make it, part of you wants to and will. Your absolutely right, this is a fight to the death and either we or the meds make it out. I appreciate you watching and I"m glad I could give you courage. Hang in there!

    Peace,

    J

  • hi where is your pain specifically?. i was on long acting hydromorphone and got off it and it was hell. i am now taking short acting oxycodone for my chronic nerve head pains due to ssri withdrawals. i want to get off oxycodone so bad because it makes me depressed and causes more problems. i have a condition which was done to me by psychiatric drugs by psychiatrists by weaning me rapidly off 2 max doses of ssr's combined that i took for more than a decade. the head pains are horrible. its hard.

  • seboxone is one way to deal with getting off of them COMPLETLY, but you need to find a drug rehab psychiatrist (I think those are the ones who write meds) if not psychologist. They block a chemical in your brain that allows opiates to take effect fully. It is so you can be taking seboxone, and then take a oxycodone, and feel NOTHING from the oxycodone, they precribe them to people around where im front (Florida) to those people who take 10+ a day of the 30mg pills.

  • I have chronic bowel problems that have basically ruined and controlled my my life for the last 15 years. 3 years ago it got SO bad that I was constantly missing work and unable to go out of my house and do "normal" things. I started on low dose Oxycontin, with larger amounts as needed. In 2 years I was over 120mg a day just to feel OK and function but 120 is WAY too much and I knew I was dependant/addicted to the damn stuff. I took a week off of work and cut my dose in 1/2 over 5 days.

  • cont- Now I take 60 to 90mg a day to "maintain" and I'm functional. When I'm really hurting I'll take an extra 20 or 30 to control pain. I've talked to a LOT of people, including long term H addicts. Quitting with Suboxene or Methadone won't help because when pain strikes I need something for relief. You CAN cut your opiate dosage if you take low doses of Benzos (Xanax,Valium) and extra Tylenol or Ibuprofen for pain, but I'm too hooked to quit Oxy completely. My heart goes out to you bro...

  • Thanks man, good luck to you too and I hope all goes well and you feel good. Take care and Happy New Year.

    Peace

  • smoke weed

  • oxy 80's all the way

  • I heard Kratom helps to kick pharmaceutical opiates. It's an opiate itself and it comes in leaf form so you can make tea with it. You can order it online.

  • look man you need to go get you a oc 80 green monster snort the whole thing at onece and you will feal better

  • dont get on oc's ive been addicted to them for 2 yrs and is like being on heroin best thing to do i tie youself down go thru the detox and find a non narcotic painkiller for your pain

  • hey man buy some weed okay?, A much better pain med works for me

  • I've been on painkillers for awhile aswell and I'm just now in the process of tapering down. Quiting painkillers is probably one of the hardest things to do. People say smoke weed? With the pain your in and especially when your weening down on MG's the weed will have no effect at all. It won't do anything. When I was withdrawling from painkillers I could have smoked an entire ounce of weed and it wouldnt have helped at all. Thats how bad my pain was.

  • @MrSaturdayNight7 Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to taper, I did it cold turkey back in February of this year. I agree, the symptoms of withdrawal are SO intense, I tried smoking a couple times during and because of the intensity of the symptoms it barley touched a thing. I agree that quitting was one of the hardest thing I've EVER had to do, and I've had 6 surgeries since I was 15, cut straight down the middle 4 times and have no intestine, rectum, colon. Just a permanent Ostomy

  • @MrSaturdayNight7 @Assassinator41 I got addicted because I was on them for 10 years of Ulcerative Colitis and so many surgeries, but I can honestly say being without them and off them makes me feel like there is once again purpose to my life and has opened my eyes to life outside of it. Its the best thing I could have ever done for myself and thats why I've become a huge activist for making sure people don't just go on them even once, the risk are to great.

    Peace,

    J

  • @MrSaturdayNight7 get some kush your prob smoking shit weed to start you need good medical quality weed

  • @MrSaturdayNight7 i totally agree with you and your statement. The only thing that worked for me was to get on methadone. I'm weening myself off of it now. Very slowley but surely.

  • damn,, fersure u need to taper off! talk to ur doc about it...6 years...thats a looong time to be on such a strong narcotic painkiller...u need to wean urself off...and when ur at a smaller dosage try smoking some weed, to me it potentiates the effects of the narcotic

  • I am an ironworker by trade and i was hurt at work and fell 20ft landing on my feet but crushed two discs causing them to hurniate which needed surgery.. Long story short I started on 5mg then to 15mg and then 30mg I have been on them for 7 years. I felt like i would be on these forever. But i wasn't I started therepy aqua and non had a few epidurals 3 months now in rehab few weeks left. And i am down to 5mg again. they say i will need

suboxon after the 5mg are dosed down.

  • thats ashame bro, much love

  • smoke a joint man light that shit and get fucked up give it a try

  • I would reccomend medical marijuana get a script if it is legal in your state if not buy it from the guy in your hood

  • smoke weed or hash thats a good pain killer and gives u a sensation

  • problems galore arnt we.Been down the same one way road too and its hell.Injured my neck ruptured 5 discs and had three operations, ripped the screws out of the plates holding the spacers and plates in my neck and got a staff infection on the last operation.started small and been steadly going up in strengths, even had 100 mg patches of fentynal worst shit in the world.Talk about legal herion.try suboxon 8 mg cannot use any opiates with it but its pretty good at reduicing pain.

  • were can some oxy from?

  • the streets cousin

  • dumb arse.

  • take 800mg ib prophen

  • Once a pill-head, always a pill-head........

  • if u reallydown and out jesus will save u

  • smoke weed man

  • jaredhuber, u obviousl dont know anything about addiction

  • weed isn't addicting bro.

  • self'd

  • I was huge doses a year ago..... all for back pain. I was up to 500mg a day!Legit , family man . I am in my 50`s . I went to hospital and they withdrew them sympathetically... I am now on 20 mg . [Your post was a long time ago..]...methadone tabs a day. Everyone tells me I am better... I still have back problems but the addiction is pretty much gone though . Contact me if you want -and good luck You can win !

  • DONT STOP. Pain isn't taken siriously by my people. If you have to lower your tolerance detox for a week then it will work at low dose again

  • hey show some respect. i bet if it was your tough-guy wannabe ass you would have committed suicide. godamn pussy

  • WEED

  • what is causing these digestive system problems? pain is a sympton of a bigger problem? taking pain killers is not the answer.. what the hell are you eating? do not drink any alcohol - have you consulted a regstd dietician? have you been tested for celiacs disease? IBS? crohn's disease? all of these are treatable and reversible!!

  • I have refractive Ulcerative Colitis. I just had my 5th surgery 3 weeks ago and now have a Colostomy bag again. This is my second time with it and it is hopefully temporary while they build me a new J-Pouch. I have been tested for all those things, no I don't drink at all and yes I am on a certain diet. I've taken everything under the sun for UC but nothing has ever worked, that's why I'm still going through this. I hope that answered your questions.

  • here how i did it man no jk first do u take more than ur supose to a day if so start out the day u want to start take as much as u usually do then then next day take em all but 1 then the next day dont take 2 then by the time ur down to 1 try to deal with the pain and just take 1 ive started out taken hydros then oxy 80s now im done with my knee problems but still taking them i was takein like 6 or 7 a day but now i only take 1 ... so try it

  • If you can't live with the pain without opiate treatment then there's no point in considering how to quit. When you feel that you don't need the medication to treat pain anymore, THEN worry about dealing with addiction. Until that time, why bother?

  • This may not be applicable to your situation, but a friend of mine with chronic pain had a pain pump put in his body that releases straight to the source instead of going to the central nervous system. It helps with his liver and head now.

  • Also, I too have been on and off medication for the past 5 years, starting with a back injury during wrestling.

I finally said enough, because I was always running out and having to spend lots of cash to pay for my addiciton I built up over the years. So at first, I was a little worried stopping cold turkey. I heard a lot of bad things. So now I'm on day five pill-free (from 60-80mgs oxycodones). And feel ok. Vitamins, aspirin, rest, fluids and YOU HAVE TO WANT IT.

  • Hmm, must not be an opiate, because opiates treat pain by acting on the brain, they're not local anesthetics. "Going to the source" with opiates will do nothing.

  • As I said, I thank both of you for your advice and I truly wish the best to both of you. I am going back under the knife for another colostomy bag in 6 weeks so I will post another video very soon. Again, thank you for both your points and thoughts, I really do wish the best to you and everyone out there dealing with this horrible struggle.

  • Guys guys, both your points are valid. I agree with both of you on different views but Jerseyemt I do fully vibe with your point about allowing them to let us function. After surgery 6 years ago I couldn't work or go to school, the medication helped me go back to both and yes, it helps me live day to day. ZooYork, yes they have horrible side effects and we all go through withdrawal at some point or another but, I believe (just me), that there is a difference between addiction and dependence.

  • idk if u solved the problem but try seeing a doctor certified to prescribe suboxone for ur addiction (i kno u dont abuse, i do) but yea suboxone has worked for me on the dept. n i kno tramadol is a pain reliver that works while on suboxone. try to get the two as a combo n lemme know wat u think

  • I know it's been almost a year since this vid was posted, but I have something to say. I've been taking morphine and oxycodone for 3 years for pain. If you are taking it for legitimate pain and are taking it as prescribed, you will become dependent, not addicted. There is a huge difference between the two.

Also, OxyContin is less 'intense' than oxycodone BECAUSE of the time-release. It is delivered slowly over 12 hours instead of all at once, like Percocet or Roxicodone.

  • Thank you for saying that key word, dependent. So many people don't understand the difference and we are BOTH dependent. Thanks for your comment and good luck to you.

    Peace,

    J

  • addiction is dependent, there is no diffrence if u get dependent on it from abuse or for legit reasons. it is the same thing. you go through withdrawls either way. its the same problem, its a physical dependency.

  • You are absolutely incorrect. Dependence and addiction are two completely different things. Please research the difference between the two so you understand. You can start by searching on Google for 'addiction versus dependence national institute on drug abuse' and reading the first site in the search results.

Thank you in advance. Explaining to people the difference is something that I, as a chronic pain patient, needs to do almost every single day.

  • No I am not. Im in recovery in an outpatient program for suboxones. I speak with my doctor once a week. I read alot about the problem I have. When it comes down to it, they are both the same thing. They have the same effect. Your body goes into withdrawls without the oxycodone. It is a phsyical and mental addiction whether your lying to yourself taking them by buying them off someone, or if they are prescribed. Its the same thing. And I took 45mg usually n up to 90 on a wild night.

  • read other comment first.+++========++++

----so my usual does is lower then many people who get prescribed oxycontin. (never touched those too much hassle i usually took roxicet, the white round M on 1side, 30 in a box on side2.) but higher then most. Addiction is psysical as well, not just mental. I feel for you and many others, you have an extra problem that is pain without them. your pain when you come off them is ur body needing the drug as well as ur injury. I went through withdrawls-

  • it was a terrible experience. Every joint in my body ached terribly, I felt weak, i hand restless leg and arm syndrome kinda feel (couldnt sleep) above many things. basicly i felt like i wanted to die. now that im on suboxones i dont feel that way and NOW i just battle the mental factor. I know you dont abuse. Addiction doesnt mean that. Addiction IS dependency, whether its mental or phsyical. When it comes down to it they are the same results. a hell of a problem that sucks no matter wat

  • Again, you are blurring the line here. A person can be dependent on a certain medication. And nearly every psychoactive drug can show physical dependence. But someone who is taking opioids for legitimate reasons, while they will become dependent, they do not become addicted. Please do some more reading on the difference between dependence and addiction -- it is tricky, even some doctors can't 'get it', but if you do some more reading it should be clearer to you.

  • im done arguing here. it has the same result. it is the same thing. it doesnt matter how you got hooked. the end result is ur hooked and you have a pysical dependence to it.

  • the other tru diffrence (i just went onto your website after googling dependence vs addiction) is what they doctors write down about you. its so they wont give an abuser the medication for pain in the future so they wont abuse it. but instead do an other option for pain management. in the end u have a problem. there is no diffrence. good luck to to in ur life. im done here.

  • The term "addiction" is used in many contexts to describe an obsession, compulsion, or excessive physical dependence or psychological dependence.

  • (This post will be split into two due to length)

You say you're done here, but I really want you to learn the difference between an opioid addict and a chronic pain patient dependent on opioids. I am not, to use your words, 'hooked on' (addicted to) opioids.

An addict takes opioids to get high or to escape reality. A pain patient takes opioids to get on with life. Addicts are lost to themselves, to their families, and to society. They can't work, and often are involved in criminal activity.

  • (Part 2)

Pain patients, couldn't be more different. Being on an opioid allows them to interact with their families, to get out of hospitals, and to go back to work. Indeed, their efforts to maintain their health are in marked contradiction to the utter disregard addicts show for their health.

I hope you can understand this difference. Addicts' opioid usage has nothing but negative effects. My use of opioids has only positive effects. It allows me to work, earn an income, and not be in pain.

  • (Part 3)

And please do not think I am looking down on you. Your misconception of dependence and addiction is far too common, and I try whenever I am able to help others understand the opioid painkillers, when used properly, has extreme positive effects on the lives of those suffering with chronic pain.

In my case, I have severe low back and leg pain from a high-speed car accident. And opoiods, along with several other pain management methods and procedures, is what works best for me.

  • I know you take it for the right reasons. I know you get positive out of it. BUT we are facing the same problem in the end, that is what I have been trying to say this whole time. it doesnt matter if you have pain or not and you take it. your body needs it after prolonged use, legit or not legit reasons. It does not matter. We would both go through withdrawls. now a misconception to many on your side of the fence is you have the pain and when you stop cant differ it from withdrawl.-------

  • ------------Withdrawl is very real and very painful. Ive gone through it. no matter how much you tell me you do it for legit reasons and I dont (i know there is no hate from you and none from me) but in the end we will both have the same effect. WITHDRAWL. it is real. many people in your position are actually Sueing (forgive spelling) these pill companies because they got addicted (dependent to you) because opiates are phsyically addicting (oxycodone is an OPIATE, learn the diffrence)

  • after proof reading what you wrote I want to correct myself. you did said opiod. i said it wrong, oxycodone is made from thebien which is an opiate.

  • Don't kid yourself. You take it because you are addicted. You have to be honest with yourself. The drug isn't helping you anymore, it's just slowly killing you. You need Suboxone, it helped me get my life back. I was on opioids off and on for 10 years after a broke my neck in the Army. It boils down to simple choice, get help or die. I now just live with the pain. I didn't think I could live with the pain,I didn't want to keep living the life of an addict. Get help or lose everything.

  • I was never denying that I've become reliant on it, that's why I posted this video for ideas and feedback. I've come down from a lot less than I was on almost a year ago so I am slowly coming off.

    Peace,

    J

  • of course he's an addicted, if it's prescribed for pain management by a doctor you are an addict. I'm on 50mcg fentanyl patches and 15mg oxycodone 3xday BT meds.

Assassinator you sound depressed and need to see a therapist for depression. I've been on these meds for 6yrs for a fractured c5-c6 vertebra. Are you on disability?

  • I have been on and off anti-depressants. I sounded depressed when I made this cause I was prepping for surgery, which I'm in the process of doing again. Not on disability cause at the moment I've managed to work, but I'm also finishing up school. Good luck to you, I hope everything works out.

    Peace,

    J

  • Opioid analgesics are in fact, if taken in prescribed dosages for legitimate pain, extremely safe and have very few negative long-term effects. The most prominent is constipation, which can be resolved with products like Miralax.

My pain is so severe that I would not be able to lead a normal life and earn an income without pain relief from opioids. Without proper pain management, I would need to go on social security and disability. Opioids have without a doubt given me my life back.

  • Read comments below first..

Now here is my odd thing I do and it may not be right for everyone. You are going to build up a tolenrance to these medications, that's just how they work. So every now and then I stop for a few days. Okay it is HELL, you get withdrawls PLUS the pain but after those few days your tolernce goes down a bit and for a short time the smaller doses work better. Like I said this isn't for everyone and it can be really hard on your body, mind and will.

  • Read my comment below first..

Anyhow, beyond that, is trying to have a combination of things for pain relief. Yes, I take narcotic pain killers as well as NSAIDs and other medications designed for long term neuropathic pain.

Also mixing in some Eastern medicine seems to help. I've been pretty impressed with acupuncture, though most insurance companies are still not covering this. I have to take one to two warm baths a day, that helps relax and ease me a bit.

  • Hey man, I actually do understand where you're at. I have a very similar situation but it's been about four years for me. Here are a couple things I can tell you. When you actually have pain, chronic pain, these medications do give people a chance to have a somewhat normal exsistance. They have been given a bad name by media and by people that abuse them. to be continued....

  • hypnotherapy...if somebody can make you think you're chicken, they can convince you to hate the shit

  • Oxycodone and oxycontin are the same. There just more of it in oxycontin and its time released. Oxycodone is the basis of many narcotics such as percocets.

  • YOGA???????? LOL

  • I would be happy to email with you if you ever need someone to talk to in private. Ironically enough, I'm on pain meds now, but I have quit them before when I wasn't taking them for any reason/had no Rx's for them. Just drop me a line if you want to vent, scream (it can be done via email), cry, laugh or just tell someone your plan for quitting. It's hard but it can be done - and the fear is generally worse than the actual physical reaction. Best wishes and a hug.

  • weed is good for that but the street stuff has heroin and dust in it so you should grow if its legal there ;]

  • thats bullshit, no dealer would waste drugs like that. 'laced' weed is a myth

  • true why would they buy drugs to add them to another drug thats spending there profit

  • thats like selling someone a brass ring for 10 bucks and when they leave the store you start yelling jokes on you its covered in gold...laced weed is good for you if anyone

  • Cannabis.

  • When u think about it when did the real pain start. For me it was once i stopped taking the pills... It is a phase and can be done. I am commenting again because since my last post i went to 20 norcos a day and I am down to nothint now.. I baan about 1 week with nothing and just today am I startting to feel human.. So I guess the question is... How bad do you want it?

  • Develop a plan on paper. Dedicate yourself to it and do not detour no matter how bad you feel. Time heals all. You will go back to yourself with some time (possibly 2-3 weeks in some cases). Just dont give up! and go back cuz then you are right back at square one

  • Yes I now how bad the back pain can be. I started out at 2 or 3 10mg lortab (hydrocodone) a day. Ended up at four (4) 30mg oxycodone IR a day. 120 mg of oxy per day. Plus was on six milligrams of xanax a day. I got thrown into jail for no reason at all all charges were dropped, but I spent 8 days in there detoxing from 120mgs of oxy a day, and they gave me librium to string me along so I didn't have a seziure from the xanax. Cold turkey off the oxy and barely any benzos was hell. I couldnt eat

  • for the entire 8 days I was in there because I was detoxing and jail food is not even fit for a dog. They at least put me in my own cell and I just shook and tossed and turned and went through hell for about three or four days after a week I was much better, and now I am opiate free. I will never go back on it again. I almost died in that place. my point is you can get off of any pain meds but it is hell and if you have ANY access to them your will power will break and you will take them.

  • im the same age as you and in a lot of pain with my back. Been on the hydro and then the oxy for while... then my PM doc changed my meds to opana... check it out and talk to your pain doc bout it.

  • I sit here wtaching your video and almost breaking down. I have swallowed probably 18 Norco's today and just now down 6 ambien to sleep... I am in a deeo cycle. I have a childo n the way. I am going to lose evrythinG! I think we all need to get togeather somehow and build a group of online support. A place where we can go while detoxing and find good advice and encouragement. Get zback to me if you think this will work. I think a wep page is in order! Get Back to me. When I see you I see me!

  • Hey you guys, Nomadchik it completely agree with you on the traveling to a clinic everyday. While it is good for me, not everyone is able to make that drive or even have a clinic near by. That is why I was recommending that you see if your pain doctor would prescribe it. It is a good alternative. I do agree though, I think I was always bad with pain meds, but with oxycontin I was terrible. If there is no real chance for becoming pain free, is when I would go to Oxycontin. Goodluck both ofU

  • Im still there, this is my 5th year i went from 1x40mg a day to 6x80mg a day on oxycontin..dont go up to the contin, its worse that the straight pills. you can still wean yourself down but with the contin you cant. I keep thinking about a way out but i dont see one. on methadone you have to travel to the clinic every day and my back just wont be able to take that much pain. im terrified too.

  • Yeah, I hear ya'. People have been telling me that the Oxycontin is the same but I know its not, thats why I"m trying to avoid going on it. I appreciate the words of support and I hope everything goes well for you too. Let me know if there is anything I can do or if you just need to talk let me know. Good luck and stay well.

    Peace,

    J

  • I ran out of room. Anyway, the methadone has been the best medication for my pain. Are you taking more meds than prescribed? I would really try it out. It is amazing. I was scared like you. My doc wouldnt prescribe it cause he was nervous. Especially with the stigma about methadone. The methadone is long lasting 24 hrs or more, so you are not continuously popping pills. Methadone is not only for illicit drug addicts, it is also for pain patients who are opiod tolerant, which you are.

  • Thanks for the info man, I take more when I'm in more pain but for the most part I'm not abusing it. I just hate being on it and hate taking it. I'll hit you up for some info, I really do appreciate it.

    Peace,

    J

  • He bud, I was being treated for ailments after a back surgery. I have more pain now then before the surgery. I went through the whole process over the last three years of going higher and higher with medication. I sought help through A Methadone Clinic. The methadone is an opiate. I would talk to your doctor about your concerns. See if he would put you on methadone. It is safe if used properly and does help well w/the pain. It is a thought. It is worth a try. He may not prescribe it.

  • If you can actually get off the oxycodone dependence then I think the pain might go away. It's just a thought. It's a tricky deal, I have a pure substance addiction to vicodin and now oxycodone, and I'm trying to quit before I'm too deep in.

  • Thank you for your words man, I've actually done this a couple of times. Unfortunately I'm still being treated for my condition and I"m still having major problems. I def. agree that the pain is worse because of the dependence of the meds but unfortunately I"m still having major issues. I appreciate your advice and I hope all goes well with you too.

    Peace,

    J

  • I stopped already. The thing is I went on here and saw some of the stuff it does to you, and I was like time to back off. If only it was that simple for everyone. I had a rough idea, but I leave for bootcamp in august and I'll be cut off anyways. I think you should see about getting into a methadone clinic, even though you're not a heroin addict and it won't be a court order, they're open to people with opiate addiction.

  • I appreciate your help man, once I get my condition in check the next step is slowly getting off the meds. Good luck with bootcamp, message me if you need anything or I can help. Take care and good luck.

    Peace,

    J

  • Thanks, you too. I also just had an idea. Many people do cold water extractions with opiates to crystalize out the APAP. It's the part that harms your liver. Opiates dissolve easily in water. If you took vicodin or percocet, dissolved a bunch in water, and did the extraction(google it) you could fine tune the amount you're given to ween yourself off. I wonder if anyone has ever tried this, might be the start of something new.

  • The problem with most opiods is the mental game. Eventually, your body becomes so used to having the pain killers, that the effects diminish, and now you feel the pain. However, the pain you feel may not actually be from the surgery, or injury, depending on the situation. It's your body just saying there is pain. Obviously, cutting cold turkey would be a horrible idea and nigh impossible. Methadone clinics, commonly used for heroin addicts, have had decent effects with other opiates.

  • I really feel for you man. I wish i could help,or that i had any advice to share with you other than what any average joe could suggest, however i don't. Try filling your daily routine with as much physical activity as possible and try your best not to let the meds get you down. Endorphins (sp?) can be an amazing natural opiate. Best of luck buddy.

  • Hey man, I take MS Contin and Oxycontin. I find the same thing that they eventually don't work as well and you have to increase the dose. I still try to stay at a low dose, and take them whan I get up and on an empty stomach. That way I still get the effect. About a half hour after I take them I make a shake in my blender which sets them off really nice. That's 1 scoop of protein powder(whey Protein), half a frozen banana, 4 ice cubes and about 1.5 cups of filtered water. Mix and drink quick.

  • I know that, I was just sayin I don't wanna go on Oxycontin because of its stronger longer release.

  • Hey man...there's this legal herb from Thailand called "Kratom"...it's helped me and a lot of others...traditionally used to treat opium abuse, it works in the same way, and is excellent for treating pain, but is MUCH milder and less harmful to your body. Hope I could be of help!

  • I will def. look into that, it would be amazing if I could get my hands on it. Thanks so much for the information.

    Peace,

    J

  • im physicaly dependent on hydrocodone, and oxycodone, i am actually starting to stop "knock on wood" but really what im doing is just eating sunflower seeds and dipping, doesent sound good but it works for me :D

    good luck

  • soon your gonna be on oxyconti because if you do have pain that is that severe..it is a miracle drug if used right..time release 12 hour capsules as long as there not chewed , snorted or injected..if your taking 4 oxycodone every 4 hours ..i sont know your dose .. you might as well get the oxycontin if you can..pain is more subconcious than anything..try poping tylonal 1 w codiene..and tell your self you just took a perk...and watch what happens...if your pain is really intense OXYCONTIN IS BEST

  • Hey man, I'm glad you posted this issue and I wish you well. My current narcotics are: Methadone 10 mg. & Oxycodone 10/325. My concerns are: affordability/availability/no prescription drug coverage. Suggestions anyone?

  • I'm in the same boat man. Always concerned with getting my meds and problems with my insurance. If you don't mind me asking, why are you on the meds?

    Peace,

    J

  • i have the same but i dont take my methadone too easy to accidently over dose i have methadone 20mg and oxycodone 5/325mg

  • try weed dude hahaha works fur me

  • Man you should really try methadone because you can take it less often and it works just as well 4 me for the pain cause I used to be on Oxycodone ir 30mg. 5x a day and became extremely dependant on them. With methadone I just take 10mg's twice a day and maybe more if my pain is really bad that day but I feel 100% better mentally and would recommend you ask your doctor about this. Good luck man!

  • Yeah thats the next step, almost everyone has told me to. Its a problem of I"m going through treatment every 3 months in Cleveland so its insane. I appreciate your words of kindness. Take care and good luck to you too.

    Peace

  • baby boy oxycodone is oxycontin. what mg are u takin?

  • Oh I know, luckily mine is just straight up Oxycodone without the lasting release so its not as intense. Each of my pills is 10/325 mg it just depends on how much pain I"m in each day, that determines how much I take.

  • just out of curiosity what dosage are taking?

  • It really depends on how bad a pain day I'm having. But each pill is 10/325

  • As you know, I've abused opiates for a long time. You are physically dependant on opiates right now and your tolerance will keep rising indefinitely. When its time to come off or for pain management, try suboxone. One milligram has the same painkilling effect and 6 ounces or oral morphine and it doesn't give you the high, you will still have energy to do stuff.

  • I thank you for all your help man. Good luck with all of your stuff to and we'll be in touch. Be safe and thanks for everything. Talk to you soon.

    Peace,

    J

  • dude,

Been there, I was wounded several times in the Corps, going back to 1989, I am clean now for about 9 months, I know your pain, but you can get off the dope and still find relieve for your pain. Remember it's mind over matter.

  • Man, I feel for you. I have BAD IBS and three compressed disks in my lower back. OXY really did help me, but after 6 months I realized that I was becoming "addicted". I weaned off and pretty much switch between vicodan and Jim Beam to self medicate. Not becoming addicted or an alcoholic is a constant battle. Telling you this might not help, but it might help you to know that you are not alone...

  • Thanks man, after dealing with this for so long and hearing other peoples horror stories it actually makes me feel somewhat better to know I'm not alone.

  • im on suboxone after 2 years of oxycodone / heroin. worked great for me.

  • i know to many people in your shoes bro ....my sis for one .... my cuz ...friends.....just need to be strong for yurself brother ..try a detoxification kit ...flush your system so theres no trace to jones from kinda thing ....will power

  • look up suboxone. You still feel shitty at first cause it doesnt get you really high but the opiates combined with an opiate blocker make you feel normal again and after a while you really wont crave that feeling as much anymore. thats how i quit and it is much better than methadone beacause you want to feel normal not high, not have the opiate blocker but 8mg buprenorphine which is much stronger than oxy but has less potential for abuse and less dependancy

  • it is fantastic to see someone trying to get off of drugs for once... but anyways some of my friends were x-oxycontin users they said they drank a lot of water took vitamins
