Bob´s songs are still performed by relavant "young" bands night after night. That´s what makes the difference between him and most of his contemporarys.
when we got Rolling Thunder Revue videos on youtube, with Dylan and everything, why in the hell would I listen to this... is not a bad version, but man, listen to the 1976 versions...
Yes. It's quite a buzzkill to go from Rolling Thunder Revue to this. Maybe I would be more forgiving if it was some random fan, but I don't know why the hell they are doing this. There's a haunting beauty to Dylan's work and this just fel like a generic attempt at trying to seem hide the fact that they are just as formulaic as the next dime a dozen screamer band.
From your SN I get the feeling you are biased. Most people don't appreciate Dylan's voice... funny how he's still a legend without a marketable voice. No disrespect to the OP, but I don't think The White Stripes will be remembered as long.
the "haunting beauty" you are referring to exists within both studio versions of this song. Including your precious Bob Dylan, when bands sing song over and over night after night, they sometimes tend to lose their effect. Bob Dylan probably sang his own songs with this very same lack of precision and care. Judging a band by one performance of one song is nothing short of ignorant. And a screamer band? The fact that you classify them as such makes me wonder if you know anything about them.
soooo baddddddd!!
