  • Remembering all the fallen of Gaza from the evil Israeli nazi's. 27th dec 2008- 18th Jan 2009

  • @rainbowdragon131065 The Israelis are so far removed from being Nazis that a little ignoramus like you doesn't begin to understand. The fallen of Gaza included over 700 Hamas fighters, by their own admission. The Israelis sent messages, made phone calls, made radio broadcasts for civilians to get out of dangerous areas. Did you know that in Israeli hospitals a badly wounded Hamas terrorist will go to the operating theatre before a less badly hurt Israeli soldier? Some Nazis!

  • @MacEoin how many hamas fighters were there in the UN food store the israelis bombed ??

  • @PETERSNOTGAY08 We simply don't know. None? 50? Hamas fighters were spread everywhere, in mosques, in private homes, in hospitals, in schools. Israel never bombed anywhere without reason. Israelis went out of their way to warn civilians to stay away from possible targets – something that had never happened in the history of warfare (compare the Nazis or the British bombing Dresden etc. or the US bombing Japanese cities)> Hamas put fighters and weapons in civilian places. Think.

  • so, the second part really is irish?

  • Hope you don't mind if I post this version of the Irish translation.

I think you will like it better, and I recommend that you listen to

the version of the song in the 'Veronica Guerin' movie which is far

    more soulful and heart wrenching.

Gile mo chroí do chroí-se, a Shlánaitheoir,

is ciste mo chroí do chroí-se a dháil im chomhair:

ós follas gur líon do chroí den ghrá-sa, a stór, ...

A Athair 's a Íosa 'dhíon led bhás mé beo, ...

The light of my heart is your heart, O Saviour,

    the treasure of my heart is your heart poured out for me;

since it is clear that your heart is filled with my love, O beloved,...

O Father and O Jesus, whose death preserved my life,

  • Ok, maybe my comment was only three days ago.....must've had a blonde moment lol

  • It's a beautiful song but she's not the only person to give their life up for what they believed in.

I thought the film portrayed her as a cocky reporter who didn't take into account her own actions on people (including family) around her......imho of course!

    Still, it's a great song.

  • My comment wasn't three days ago, it was weeks, possibly months since I did it, what's going on?

  • hey, ya ur right but her murder caused outrage, and Taoiseach John Bruton called it "an attack on democracy". The Criminal Assets Bureau led to over 150 arrests and a hunt against Irish organised criminal gangs. Due to her death this happend. Great song.x

  • i like ur comment about 'one more day'. It's easier to judge than be judged. They have to dramatise it, it sells. Don't tell me that you've never done something without taking time to predict whatever actions u decide upon are going to affect others.

  • I think that's the problem with films in general, the people that make them can't know for sure and they have to dramatise it and so, as in this case, she comes across as an uncaring, unfeeling person. The only time she feels anything is when she gets beaten up and shot, and even then the character is shown as having little sense of what's happening around her. She was a brave woman and we should feel proud of her for her desire to fight against drugs, after all it cost her her life.

  • thank you for your words ....I have realized the truth of them so painfully. They comfort me, even though they are not directed at me...

  • i can't find it on itunes :'(

  • This song gives me goosebumps.

    its beautiful

  • I just saw the movie, this song was perfect.

  • que hermosa cancion, maravillosa!!

  • veronica you will always be remembered for what you did for this country i remember where i was when you were killed i cried so much you will always live on in my heart truly you were one of a kind r.i.p love allways

  • Thank you Veronica Guerin.

If because of your fight one life was saved, if one child was born that might not have been, one dream dreamt that might have died but for you, then your life was truly sacred and your memory should be blessed by all good people all over the world.

    RIP sweet Princess.

  • to my dear brother kevin who i miss so much with love for peri and lindsey love you always.

  • the world needs more heroines like her!

    rip Veronica

  • when i saw the movie and heard this song, i really had to cry, it's so sad what happened to her...

    r.i.p. veronica

  • A fitting tribute to a true hero, rip Ronnie x x x x x

  • powerful song

  • j'adore... j'ai vu et revu le film et la musique est magnifique

  • What a beautiful song... really brings back memories of the terrible tragedy of Veronica Guerin's murder.

  • One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Shame about the techno backing. Why do they ruin fabulous songs in this way? What a glorious voice this talented young lady has.

  • quit yapping and just listen to the song.

  • well said , tbenefi33

  • @tbenefi33 What and forget about what the song stood for. Don't be silly.

  • @tbenefi33 But you have to know what the songs about, otherwise Veronica died for nothing.

  • I really don't know anything about the languages,,, nor their history.... but this song is really beautiful!:)

  • Yeah i was also looking for this song on itunes, its totally shit that you cant get anything IRISH easily anymore, cant get the "snapper" or the committments, or even war of the buttons on DVD anywhere...:(

  • goosebumbs...all I can say

  • An absolutely brilliant song - Sinead makes us very proud to be Irish. - Pity this song isn't on itunes!!! :(

  • you know, there's so many songs on itunes and it is so weird! i've been lookinf for Sharleen Spiteri's album but nothing! I think it's a matter of royalties or something

  • cool cet chanson déchir

  • the irish are irish how dare you markymarko22 call us brits you need to brush up on your history we are not BRITISH WE ARE FROM THE ISLAND THAT OUR FORE FATHERS FOUGHT FOR THE NATION REPULIC OF IRELAND AND MANY A MAN SACRIFICE HIS LIFE FOR SO WE CAN BE FREE JUST ANOTHER 6 COUNTIES TO GO

  • id appreciate if you didnt place words in my mouth , i never sed WE wer british ! learn to read

  • This song is so beautiful, kind of magical and sad aura coming from it....<3

  • A beautiful song to be sure, I think we all agree on that, no? Reading the battle of the Gaelic/Irish/Scottish lang. in the commentary is amusing and a true example of how we humans can get "worked up". I find it amusing as a Canadian, married to an American and living in the U.S., where the common language is English, but is so often bastardized in different parts of the country that you almost need an interpreter. In the end, the song is unforgettable and Sinead is brilliant! Peace.....

  • The Scots: The Romans called the Scoti and originally they came from Ireland led by King Fergus Mor Mac Eirc .

The Scots raided in the Hebrides and the western mainland of Scotland.

They spoke Gaelic and established a new kingdom in the territory of modern Argyll which was known as Dalriada

  • its Irish Gaelic you fucking vegtable

  • I love this song, it makes me cry just hearing it and the movie was just as sorrowful. The movie itself is heart wrenching, to watch her struggle and fight against injustice. The irony of the story is that the Drug Dealers were the ones who brought themselves down by making her a martyr

  • One of the most beautiful song!

  • This song is so beautyfull, and the movie is awesome.

  • while u 2 argue whats whos language i enjoy this song. <3 Serbia

  • markymarko222. Scots gaelic came from irish gaelic, the Irish brought it into Scotland!

Ignore his ignorant comment, he doesn't understand what he's talking about.

  • did u call my comment iggnorant ???? cheek of you ??????haha scottish ppl adopted the language from the iberian penensilla then irish was adopted from the scots ...you have no clue....b4 irish was the national language in ireland they spoke Celtic which is similar to french

so it hapened in this order Celtic-Scots Gaelic - Irish and now unfortunately ENGLISH .

  • This is a load of incorrect bull. You don't have a clue, mate! It was actually the Irish Gaels that brought Gaelic to western Scotland. Also there was never a language 'Celtic'. This has been just an umbrella term for the various Celtic languages spoken in western Europe. Breton is a remnant of the Celtic language once spoken in western France but this doesn't and never has had any similarity to French.

  • ah come ere now you ! breton was adapted to gaelic and gaelic was adapted to irish ! the point thts trying to be made is this ' gaelic and irish are two completely different language ! this song has a verse sung in irish and not gaelic the only reason i kno its in irish is becuz i attend irish education and i just so happen to live in ireland !' and just so u kno ! the language was in scot land b4 ireland ! wat did the scots speak b4 gaelic ?? exactly the celts came to ireland after they went

  • The only thing I agree with is when you make the point that Irish and Gaelic are NOT completely different languages. I never said they were. They closely resemble each other because the Irish brought it to Scotland. Google Dal Riada. I know a verse of this song is sung in Irish. I happen to speak fluent Irish myself so know what I'm talking about. Your first line about Breton being 'adapted to Gaelic and Gaelic adapted to Irish..' is not just incorrect but also doesn't even make sense.

  • Several Celtic languages survive in British and Ireland, but in the past there were many Celtic-speaking regions in continental Europe, including present-day Spain and northern Italy. Linguistic and archeological evidence has been cited in support of showing that the Irish language was adapted from that of Northern England and Scottlands 'Gaelic'. The earlier idea was that the Celtic nation had had its heartland in Central Europe and that the Celts invaded the British Isles in several waves.

  • A more recent suggestion has been that the Celtic culture developed from Scottland to the Atlantic coast of Ireland now known as the 'Conemara Gaeltacht', with reasonable maritime cultural exchange, in an arc from Iberia to Norway.

  • And finally i assume you know irish history ! of how the barberic english bastards took over the country and destroyed the place during the plantations and treated people like slaves , How they continued this till 1916 when the irish fought them off for a short period of time but the brits being who they are decided oh we will shut them up lets just kil them ! followed by the irish war of independance and then thee civil war due to those knackers (the black and tans)

  • then there was the civil war inspired by de valeras stupidity and evilness of sending collins to do his dirty work to save himself of hatred , The brittish bastards bribed us out of 6 counties and now ireland is a 'free state' as they like to call it . All the brits loyal to the 'royal' family should be burned, shot hung and gased ! i hate them with a passion . As for the 'queen' shes a waste of bloody space someone plz blow up her 'palace'

  • Ireland hasn't been called a 'free State' since 1937. The only people who still use that term (erroneously) are Northern Irish. Most people call it Ireland or Eire.

  • your really annoying me . it makes perfect sense . we have scottish roots ! its been proven by genolgists which highlights the fact that the scots came here gave us the majority of our culture and language . then due to slight ways of speaking the irish gaelic language shifted slightly forming irish ! and for anyone tht thinks its 'irish gaelic' ... there isnt sucha langauge

  • I'm really annoying you just because I'm refuting what you're saying and not agreeing with your inaccuracies? If it gets to you that much, maybe you shouldn't bother writing any comments on youtube. As for Irish Gaelic, there IS such a language. It's the Irish variant of Gaelic and Scot's Gaelic is the Scottish variant of it. And the Irish brought it to Scotland.

  • Comment removed

  • err, what are you talking about?! *scratches head*

  • bacabu30 its actually jst called irish or gaeilge...dnt call it irish gaelic cos its jst sayn the same word ova again...jst thout id let ya no

  • I'm well aware what I speak is called thanks. Just showing the distinction between the Irish and Scottish versions, while also illustrating their closeness.

  • ca bhfuil tu i do chonai??!

  • Má cliceann tú ar m'ainm úsáidseora, feicfidh tú ar mo phróifíl go bhfuil mé as Bhaile Atha Cliath!

  • is this song on any of her albums or just the sound track of Veronica Guerin??

  • just on soundtrack AFAIK

  • During the next 300 years the Irish language spread throughout Ireland and it soon be came the national language until Hiberno-English was formed from Irish. Most common throughout England this language over took the many languages spoken throughout England and soon it became the spoken language of the King.

  • What language soon became spoken by the 'King'? Are you talking about Irish or English royalty and what language are you talking about and what time period? Don't understand your post.

  • and just so u kno the majority from below was copy and pasted from a published geneology archeologists report on the irish language supported by conradh na gaeilge followed by the publishing in 'foinse' an irish newspaper . your not arguing with me your arguing with proffesionals who have worked on the project for years . the only part that wasnt from tht report was the part about irish history where i used informal language

  • We're talking about 2 different time frames.

Yes, many of the Irish Celts and the Irish language (then just a form of Celtic) did migrate from Britain. Then, later they were forced out of Britain by the invading Angles and Jutes. But later in the 7th century, the Irish reinvigorated the Gaelic language in Scotland with their setting up of the Dalriada colony. In subsequent centuries, the languages diverged to become only partially mutually intelligible, as they are today. I speak Irish Gaelic.

  • my god,the average inntelligence of the average youtube poster, the dal riata from ireland formed the modern kingdom of scotland, celtic was the fore runner of galeic, hence irish/celtic gave birth to the modern form of scotts GALEIC.less time on your p3 MATE and more time in the"books"

  • this is the song that was played at my mother funeral

  • Good for you, well I'm Irish - so I know what I'm on about when I'm talking about my own culture.

  • anyone know where i can get the irish part of the lyrics?? i'm trying to learn this!

    beautiful song!

  • its such a sad song!! she didnt derserve to die!! rip xx

  • im irish and i go to school through irish ill give you the lyrics if you like ...

  • yes i can speak it too... i jst can't understand exactly what she's saying. know where i can get it written down?

  • yeah i have them lol x

  • can you send me them then pls? i think theres a messaging service on this.

    cheers

  • Céile mo chroí, do croíse, ar Shlánaitheoir (Together my love, your heart, our Savior) Is císte mo chroí, do chroí sábhálaim comh thíar (My heart is a treasure, your heart I cherish like the sunset) O 's follas gur líon do chroí (it's obvious that you filled your heart) Dom grása, a stór. (with my love, my dear) Chorus: In Gaelic Athair ré's a Íosa aicí lag bás, is mé in pian (Eternal Father & Jesus with her, weak & dying. I'm in pain)
  • It's Gaelic.

  • its not ...your mistaken , gaelic is a language spoken by rural scottish people , irish is a language adapted from gaelic spoken by a small fraction of the irish nation because the english army under the rule of queen elizabeth the first drove the irish culture out the window. i know this becuz i have attended first level education and most of my second level education through the median of irish .

  • I'm not trying to get involved in a fight, but all lyrics websites say Gaelic.

  • Yes it IS Gaelic. It's Irish Gaelic.

  • I don't want to get into an argument, but hi, I'm seventeen, I'm sitting my Leaving Certificate in a few weeks, I'm also taking Irish at higher level for the leaving - the verse that isn't in english(Gaelic), I can understand it, I know what it means in english, so I guess it's Irish/Gaelic.

Either that or I've picked up a different language without knowing it.

  • It is Gaelic. But it's Irish Gaelic as opposed to Scottish Gaelic! So, it's Irish (Gaeilge). Why would Sinéad O' Connor (who is Irish) be singing Scottish Gaeile for an Irish film anyway?! Use your loaf!

  • Twiggy - if you think this is Scot's Gaelic, then you obviously don't know much Scot's Gaelic nor Irish Gaelic!

  • happy birthday v

  • I love dis song it was played at my best friends moms funeral

  • I love this song. It was played at my mom's funeral.

  • Zonder meer: schitterend !

  • Simply incredible...she's the best!

  • I noticed because I suddenly stopped being able to understand the lyrics.

  • Of course I noticed, and that made the song even better! I can¨t understand much of it yet. but I am learning

  • i love this song ,, its one of her best ,, it tears me up every time i hear this ,, im gonna play this at my funerel ,,

  • That's exactly what I always say!! It's definitely my funeral song!

  • just watch the movie "veronica guerin".

This song is part of the soundtrack.

  • Every time I discover a new song performed by Sinead O'Connor I feel like my life so far has been missing something.

  • defo this one. most folk i no think she's a weirdo but just think she's tellin from the heart. Scottish in peace

  • my mam n dad used too know veronica and her husband when we lived in lusk a lovely woman ! xx
