  • too much work

  • Dan & Dave Buck would be proud :D

  • OH MY GOD your "small reveveiw" Is the beter than any other one ever!!! I Can finaly do that cut, and I have the hands of a three year old!

  • i think this is a very nice flourish, but... no offense, man, and I only realized this in the up to speed demonstration, it seems like you're switching the card, because of the flicking side and the fast motion of the turned card. So, I don't think it's a better alternative for portal than the original way. but for other situations, sure, it's a great thing you have there.

  • i cqnt find portal in the dvd ~.~ tricks florishes or everything else?

  • @vito00323 andthensome. It is sold separately.

  • could you do the tutorial on this trick?

  • Hey rather than doing this HAVE THEM SIGN THE CARD

    SHOW THEM AND THATS IT.

  • Nice, but this actually isn't the revolution cut Tudor invented or at least not the way he taught it.

Just thought I'd point that out.

    cheers,

    Caspar

  • For the people that prefers having the card pulled out by the spectator. I think this way is looks more fancy and makes you look more pro.

  • Dude portal isn't a card production lol

  • @SirNinjaCrab he never said it was

  • This is a really good tutorial Josh. Thanks you for the good idea. 5/5

  • wow cool neat thanks

  • Looks more like a switch happened when you do the flourish, than if you simply bring the decks together

  • What deck is that? Looks really nice :)

  • exellent tut for the revulution cut

kepp up the good work please make more tut´s on sleights

  • Hurr durr. Josh, you could just tell the spectator to pull the card out for you. Herp.

Totally kidding. This is a fantastic effect, and shows a great mastery of card handling. Well done! And thanks very much for sharing this!

  • Makes it look flourishy!

    Thanks :)

  • Thanks for making this video :) It is the first one I have found that can teach me the revolution cut well

  • you even sound like D+D... major reduce in personality there mate.

  • what deck of cards is it?

  • very nice

  • very cool add!!

wish my hands where a bit bigger :)

  • to confusing but nice trick 5/5

  • This is an awesome idea - a nice elegant flourish to add not only to this but other routines as well. Thanks for sharing

  • hmmm, thanks to this, i can do a production of another kinda ^^

  • NIce handeling but a guy that is not into magic also can´t see wath´s happening

you could also turn your hand over....

  • if i were a spectator i would think that looks more fishy than any other way of showing the card. thats way more effort towards a trick and to me (just my opinion) looks more like slight of hand than just placing pack ontop the other

  • Are you a Right handed ??

  • Comment removed

  • y reveal magic???

  • @thegolfman52 He didn't. You obviously didn't watch the whole video.

    Twit.

  • idk why everyone is complaining about letting the specs pull it out.. if you can make it more visual why wouldnt you?

  • ok, i just love those cards, can you tell me what's their name? i wanna buy them xd btw, nice video.

  • what is the name of that card??? the design is great!!!

  • After I did this to my friend, they said I switch it while I was doing the cut.

  • Or you could just turn your palm face up showing the card in the pack.

  • I actually think it looks even more complicated with this production, nice productions but more complicated for the spectator.

  • Why don't turn the hand 180 degrees and reveal the card?

  • Nice TATTOOrial :)

  • nice...

  • Comment removed

  • @acemagic424 i understand that it is hard for some

but you dont need to say bad tutorial just because you couldnt do it the first time

practice it and you will get better

  • @acemagic424 its not a bad tutorial, you are just lame.

  • YYEESS!!!!!!!!! thank you, jo5hbrand

  • this is a nice idea but heres a more easy way

    no fancy way

1.u can tell the spectator to pull the card out :)

    2. u can bring the pack where the card is popped out from towards u making the spectator seeing the card with out bringing both hands together :)

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

these are really , extremely easy way

  • hard to get

  • BRILLIANT!!! good job dud,e this is just phenomenal

  • you're overthinking it

  • @cruz

hey, ignorance is bliss. sure, people make videos of card tricks and then some. i don't see the person who invented cards looking in our homes and sock drawers for cash. it's not the question of property but the principle itself.

also, i'm not in the mood for clever conversation. and if i wanted a dick in my mouth, i wouldv'e asked.

  • So you are ok with some people exposing certain moves, but not others? And this is based on what? How familiar you are with the magician that claims the rights to said move? lol interesting.

As far as the dick in your mouth... some people are just too embarrassed to ask...

  • Moves being exposed doesn't mean anything its just entertainment and when someone knows it just make something up thats better

  • Great tutorial man, and I like the idea. I definitely like this way of revealing the card, but if your issue was having to bring the packets together, couldn't you have just turned your right hand up? lol. I like it anyway, thanks for making the video man. Excellent performance as always by the way.

  • the guy said (below my comment) full tut, a full tutorial would be revealing the entire trick. what are you talking about?

i think you just misread my comment. no worries.

  • you can't make a tutorial b/c its dan and dave's property? don't ppl know that or are the just ignorant. i guess we're all just ambitious magicians.

  • actually one could (legally) make a tutorial of this if one wanted to. It would be immoral, yes but it would not be illegal. And if you are so against this idea, why have you not posted in outrage of his exposure of the Revolution cut that is, as you put it , the "property" of its respective creator. Beyond that, the person(s) that would truly be getting ripped off is neither Dan nor Dave, but Paul Harris who created this "popping" move. Dan only made it into a transpo instead of an haunted deck

  • make a full tut please•

    Luqman

  • u should work for dan and dave

  • You know you could just ask the spectator to take out the card.

  • Your statement has been said many times, and the answer I give has been the same. This is just an idea to play around with.

  • @jo5hbrand Okay sorry, I see why you invented this and I use it all the time, but I didn't interpret your motivation correctly so that's why I said that. There's nothing wrong with it and I'm sorry if I sounded negative.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey! Sounds good. I never think about that..

  • @sebbbaastian thats what i thought or you can turn the pack over

  • wow u sound exactly like dan and dave. its also the same style as them, nice tutorial

  • can you make full tutorial

  • Hey Josh-it's Sam from ExoMagic- Awesome tutorial.

To the guy that says it is too flashy, it's supposed to be flashy. If you start out your routine flashy then the audience will never think anything of it.

It all depends on your style. If you are doing old time style magic tricks with no "flourishy" moves then you bust out this move then yes it will look like something is fishy. But if everything you do is complex they are just going to be amazed at what you are doing.

  • Great idea!

But one small problem, a non-magician audience would consider that way too flashy and that the cut itself changed the card somehow using sleight of hand.

Of course Portal made a card disappear from the other hand, but they could think that the card was never in that hand, but then again since they are non-magicians they shouldn't think that, so it depends on the person. =)

But this is a great production to use on other magicians for sure!

    -Benson Con

  • man

ive been needing a gd production for ages!

  • This looks really really awesome but i dont see your point. A switch could occur when you do this as well. Anyways this looks good :)

  • awsome handling but i think that a spectator still could think theres some kind of switch when you do it fast

  • You always kind of snap the card at the end of your tricks, like: "this is your selection, "snap"".

  • what are these cards called and where can i buy them??

  • aladdin, you can find it in ebay at good price

  • Thanks Alot!

  • at where my place is, they sell them at SGD$3.20

  • Same here. ;)

  • you buy them at bloomington?

  • you buy them at bloomington?

  • kind of hard

  • i really like it!

  • Ummm, would it be easier to show them that there is no switch by telling them to take the card out?

    Or have you tried that?

  • Yes, I understand that. This has been covered before in previous comments. To reiterate, this is just an idea for those out there who like to present their magical effects in a flashy, flourishy manner.

  • Oh, I see your point.

And yes it is very flouishy. :]

  • Dude.. ur realy great!

Love it.. and will use it! :)

  • I learned the revolution cut from this vid. Thanks so much.

  • Can someone tell me how to do the portal trick

  • if you buy the andthensome DVD by Dan and dave, they explain to you

  • but i dont want to wait for it to come

  • can you please tell me it?

  • Excellent move!

    Thanks alot. :)

  • nice. what deck is that?

  • I think they are alladin's

  • Comment removed

  • i'm lefty also

  • Nice tats bro. what do they say?

  • Christ (L), Jesus (R).

  • sick!

  • dude u try so much to act like dan and dave buck. lol

  • Although I think, the move can be used in many other situations, I'd just ask the spectator to strip the outjogged card out.

    Thomas

  • OR: you just turn the spread features the selection in about 50° degrees backward! I'm not complaining your variation looks more card-pro-like but I think slow & simple movements are more convincing that there's nothing fishy going on there ;)

  • oooh! youre lefty, me too!, one cuestion, how do you spread and fan?, because when a lefty make a fan or spread, it seems like its all blank

  • It doesn't seem that way. It is.

  • i feel you man . i cant make le paul spread it turns out to be blank .. and i cant do it with my right hand

  • thats what im now practicing with my right hand xD

  • LoL are you getting good at it? if so i might try that too

  • You don't need to bring the hands together, you can also just let the spectator pull the card out of the spread, That's what I do.

    Ali Esrail

  • helps alot thx

  • BEAUTIFUL..simply amazing. Nice job

  • i just realised that you are a lefty, but you have a really good handling with cards.

  • sweet idea thx

  • what disc is portal on

  • andthensome

  • portal is from andthensome

  • awesomeeeeee =)

  • what deck is this? Aladdin what smooth finish or AC?

  • Smooth

  • dude its realy cool production and i learn the revulution cut :D 10x

  • Very nice move, however I think your spectators will think this move suspect a switch more compared to the original reveal.

  • I agree. The only time I would ever use this is in a video to other magicians.

  • nice - I might use this. For next time: it would be nice to see the production at the beginning of the video, not just at the very end. thanks for showing this.

  • thats soo cool.. thanks for the variation josh!!

  • Nice video, and nice move, but I feel your explanation is very Dan and Dave inspired - to much if you ask me. I don't mean anything bad, putting out a video like this is pure talent, but try to be yourself. I don't know you, so I can be hardly wrong, i'm just saying that it feel very much like a Dan and Dave explanation. Hope you can use this advice if you find it right. Anyway, awesome video and 5 stars from me!

  • Will the Charlier cut work just as well as the revolution?

  • Unfortunately it won't.

  • where can i buy the DVD of "trilogy"?

  • You can find the Trilogy from dananddave(dot)com

  • Nice idea, because I like the way you make it more flourishy.

But what is wrong with the spectator taking out the card when it is produced?

    -Ben

  • Ben,

I never said that was wrong. This video is just an IDEA to play around with.

    Blessings,

    Josh

  • Oh no, I never meant that your idea was a bad idea. I just meant for the reason you created this idea for, it would be simpler to let the spectator take out the card.

But I like the way you make the trick more flourishy. I love effects which have a sense of cardistry about them, what do you think?

Portal is an awesome trick. :)

    -Ben

  • how do you make th card pop out pl tel me

  • Purchase andthensome or the AOA book.

  • cant offord it lol

  • it is the schreko howard's pop out production.

  • Josh, I do have something to say.. First of all.. Amazing as always.. Everytime showing us that practice does make us better.. Now.. I know that you've made this move to be more fair with the audiences showing that theres no switch when you put both hands together but I think that this move executed at full speed is more confusing than just taking the card out... I think that this is a great move but not to "not confuse" the audience but to show off your skills :D.

    Great Work!

    -Luis Salas

  • nice work

  • This is great. Love it man.

    -Jon R.

  • Its like im watching the triliogy! Great job 6/5. oh wait nvm 5/5

  • everything looks and is said just like dan and dave, stop man plz

  • that was awesome. it was so smart!!! that's why I love it

  • Great stuff josh, like the flashy style, more of a reaction then just pulling the card out,

    Martin

  • That's smooth, I really like it. Will practice and use!

    Thank you very much!

  • Thanks for the nice tutorial!

I also really like your brodcast that you did while this was uploading!!

  • No, I think that if you wanna show it in a flourishy way, it's really cool! and thanks for the tutorial!

  • great tutorial josh!!!as always!!!

    keep up the great work!!

    have a good one!

  • Awesome

    5/5

  • josh... u just rock my socks man :)

    thanks for the vid man

    10/5

  • thanks but.. if you wanna show the card in the other hand, just say to a spectator to tkae it... or put it on the table and then, take it...

  • Alright, you don't have to use this idea.

    Blessings,

    Josh

  • great tutorial man, very pro.

    thanks for the tips ;)

    .thecuso

  • Ring finger should go under the packet not around. That's not correct.

  • Not correct? Since when does it matter how the execution of a sleight or move needs to be done in one static way? As humans we learn to do things naturally and fit it to our own liking. So my ring finger doesn't go under the packet - does that mean I can't execute the revolution cut?

    Blessings,

    Josh

  • WORD!

  • 4:46 "Thanks"

NO! thank you!! brilliant idea! =)

    -gabriel

  • YAY!!!

  • this helps so much, thx!!!!

  • i've been waiting to get the tutorial...

    thanks a lot!

  • Cool!

    Thanks for the tutorial!

  • Yeah, I actually already did this. But nice tutorial and stuff, It was well done.

    -Stan

  • haha, your the biggest fan of dan and dave I've ever seen, the voice, the camera perspective and the table.

but hey, thanks for the idea, it's great

  • theWinterline and the Emogician has already stated the problem of your "switch" problem when the two packet combine. Having an additional flourish for a trick is not the right solution.

Although I realize this is more of an eye candy sort of effect and most people like to these types of things in front of a camera.. this would help. But if it's going to be performed for people, I wouldn't recommend adding this type of thing to the trick.

  • very nice! not entirely necessary, as has been said by others, but im a fan of unnecessary fanciness anyway, since of course it is a trick, and i like seeing someone handle the cards and do things i cant do. its also sweet to see this happen one handed, that adds a lot to it i think.

  • To be fair, that move when performed at the speed would easily be confused as a switch more than the original spread.

Look at this through the eyes of a spectator.

  • Sorry for having an idea...

    Blessings,

    Josh

  • Great tutorial!

Personally I don't see why one would even need to put the two hands together, or do the revolution cut. The spectator can pull it out themselves, what can be better then that?

  • awsome work bro :]

  • dude, you are the greatest. even though my hands are too small to do the revolution cut, ill keep practicing. your new dvd is going to be a big hit.

  • Nice job Josh, remember me?

  • Wow Josh, that is absolutely amazing, very helpful and fancy way, great to see that finally youtube uploaded it

    5 stars

  • OMG this is exactly what I thought the first time i saw the trick. thank you so much this is great. 5/5

  • thank you , this was a great add to the trick.

  • Impressed with the tutorial, and the video quality. good stuff.
