at least she tried to go against the lousy majority of teachers who get paid for screwing the kids up and those fat bureaucrats who suck out the money from public funding!
MyBontrager Thanks. Didn't think you knew a darn thing about teaching and I was certain you never spent any serious time in front of a classroom, or any time developing curriculum. Thanks for confirming that.
Sitting in a room all day dealing with a segment of the student population with "issues" renders you unqualified to speak to the issue of teaching-- except as an outsider with erroneous ideas developed from dealing with a skewed population.
Me? Ph.D. in School Psychology, Nationally Certified School Psychologist in Washington DC. Big f-ing deal. It doesn't take credentials to know that the public school system in this country has been broken for decades. Teacher tenure needs to be eliminated. You want to protect the worst teachers and prevent them from being fired? By supporting the unions, you do. Or are you one of the "lemon dance" teachers who sits in a room & plays cards every day while collecting a paycheck?
@MyBontrager I love how you liars claim you have a PhD in something. As if argument from authority works on the internet. Parroting a propaganda movie is a joke. I had 1 teacher protected by tenure who should had been fired. No big deal, bad tenured teachers aren't the problem, just a scapegoat to bash unions.
Tenured rules be modified? Perhaps, but doing away with tenure will create bigger problems.
@MyBontrager Grow up and stop sucking on the hype. You talk the talk— I walk the walk: As a successful inner-city teacher in neighborhoods in Harlem & the South Bronx, curriculum developer & textbook writer. You? A mere yapper standing on the outside. "Waiting for Superman?" A Tarzan come to save the natives story.
By the way: Rhee's "create success" is now under the shadow of doctored test scores: Google "Noyes School Joins Others Under Investigation For Suspicious Standardized Test Patterns"
This is the sad part that most don't want to realize or see: We are talking about allegations of a fraud in which a third party product has to be reviewed my another third party in order to assure it was used in a legitimate way. It sounds to me that the ones getting anything here done are these "third parties" with all the contracts to make tests and investigations of the test. How many thousands or even millions of dollars these things are costing us the tax payers.
==> Yet another opinion war unencumbered by facts. It's the tiny lump of dung perceived to be lying in the corner that attracts all the flies. Standardized performance tests are only a fraction of the complete teacher (and school) evaluation process, right? Please post a complete sample evaluation packet, PDF perferably.
She is changing children's lives for the better if you assume drilling them to death and increasing their anxiety level over high-stakes tests that don't really measure actual learning is "for the better."
Um, did you see Waiting for Superman? The unions blocked her initiatives and wouldn't even vote on it. Hard to get "research" when the unions shot them down. Stop making this a partisan issue, even liberals agree that the unions need major reform.
What educational initiatives currently in place are working? They have been failing miserably!!! What is YOUR alternative or do you just criticize anything that isn't in line with a liberal agenda? Who's the emperor with no clothes now?
Michelle Rhee is yet another example of a patsy used by the Reich-Wing to attack and play the 'blame game' on inner-city educators.
Fakers like her swoop into town, build a reputation based on firing teachers and closing schools, leave a mess behind, and then fly on to the next well-paying position, leaving others to clean up the mess.
NONE of her educational initiatives have actually worked. It's all Reich-Wing Hype.
If you think her methods have worked-- PROVE IT! Where is the research?

Rhee is not accountable for her reckless behavior. She abused children with masking tape in Baltimore and she lied on her resume. She specializes in selling snake-oil and will do anything or say anything for power and financial gain. With Rhee, it’s Rhee First.
@LLC1923 You are a poster child for stupidity. The only people that abused kids are the TEACHERS UNION. Not only the UNIONs abuse our kids but the UNIONs have bankrupted our economy.

So you hate unions? You and the Koch brothers.

Why don't they just RETEST the students?
It's as simple as that!
The students should be able to pass the tests with flying colors!
If they fail the test, then obviously somebody cheated!
