well i learned by being taught techniques and then using them myself in different patterns in the pentatonic scale which is the only scale you mostly need to know i think.

before i play ill just like run chromatics up and down the neck sometimes for like 20 minutes and then come back and play 10 minute later and my hands will be more warmed up

having said that - EVERY SINGLE guitar is different. even if their the same model- they could feel completely different.

my particular les paul feels great to me - looking back i dont like the razorback as much lol. i judge a guitar by if you can sit down with it and really play hard and beat it in so that its almost part of you, and the razorback doesnt hold up against the les paul in that respectto me
