Obama is not really trying to erase the "line", he is trying to help the Mexican government to create more jobs so that Mexicans don't have to sneak out of their country in order to get good jobs. It's a simple but effective strategy to seal the US/Mexico border.

For example, if UN really wants the wars/genocides in Africa to stop, they would go after the people or countries that are responsible for bringing more guns into Africa instead of just providing an infinite supply of food and aid.

Key points here; Tone down rhetoric, stronger borders, crack down on employers, learn English, pay back-taxes, fix legal immigration process, improve relationship with Mexico. Good stuff. Many of these issues will lower the impact cost of immigration on tax paying Americans. It is not our place to create jobs in Mexico, but we need to improve the diplomatic relationship and "encourage" the Mexican government to be far less corrupt. Illegal Immigration is not a Mexican issue, it is global.
