I usually give my bases the prefix S.A.D. (Strategic Alien Defence) followed by location. (Euro, Asia SoAm, NoAm etc.)

One of the best ways to improve at this game is to specialize your soldiers for the tactics you use. For example, I will typically have a mostly infantry (high accuracy and reactions) and a few specialized support troops that hang back near the ship (heavy weapons, psi-amps, snipers in flying suits)

Anyway...the whole point of this comment was to mention that I use the same suffixes as you :)

Make up a naming convention that works for you and rename all your soldiers!

(HVY, INF, SCT, PSI, etc)

I saw necro talking about bravery. Now i might not have all the information on this, but as far as i know, bravery will only increase by 10 points. When its 60, it will be 70 after a mission where the soldier totally freaked out. If it is originally 10, it will become 20, but in the future, won't be any higher than that. I could be mistaken though :).

Ufo2000 only has multiplayer capabilities for X-Com, btw, the ones who X-Com on steam, you can copy it and use it to play under a different dos box version if you want, it´s fully compatible.

Never mind, I can see you didnt use the bugfix for difficulty. On medium scouts on veteran there should be 4-7 aliens. you killed 3.

Yay finally a replacement for the lost X (com) Files.

There actually is a very nice mod for UFO which keeps the equipment the way you gave it out until you change it. It also lets you change the order in the skyranger at the begin of the mission and shows the stats of the squad in the equipment screen. It's not gamebreaking just for convenience.

Hey Necro, may I humly suggest you try running X-COM: The Two Sides? It's got multiplayer, and apart from a few convenience features to help manage your team and cut down on base time, the singleplayer game is extremely true to the original game.

hey necro, i remember one problem you had with the game was late game crash missions were so common, and boaring. theres a mod called xcom utili (i think) which allows you to use an auto battle funtion, where the game plays the entire match instantly with automated funtions, it also has a lot of other funtions witch i think are good, but you can turn those off. i HIGHLY advise downloading it to help with those tedious battles.

Of course he was under Vladamir, but they were in the SAME unit when they started.They both lasted longer then any other soldier. Vladamir had the strength and Michael had the mind power. In the end Vladamir is put down as a legend, but no one remembers Michael.

@LPwatcher as far as im aware there is ufo 2000, its a remake that supports 1 v 1 matches, i cant remember if you need a copy of the original x-com for some of the gfx or not.

@e1doller You do need at least the demo version of the game for graphics. You can play on ufo2000 ones, but that will only support 2 types of maps and all units look like as if they are in spacesuits. Its a fun game though! :) I will start playing it again, as soon as i figure out why its not working for me at the moment.

Necro Equip ur Interceptors with two Avalanche Launchers. this will considerably help u taking down UFO's and prevent ur fighters from dying too much against SupplyShips and the like. Thumbs up so he sees this.

@DeciVonW I always do that, but again, if you'd like to take down the smallest UFOs the Avalanche missile is not the best weapon, since they destroy them ... But on the other side, I think they're not worth any Elerium if taken down, so ...

@DeciVonW Do that all the time as well, the long range missiles let you take down small ufos in at least 1-2 shots with no problems at all.

I'm sorry, but I've never understood people saying superhuman is too hard. I always play on superhuman, and It's not too hard. It's not even hard, I might say. Terror from the Deep is another story though, that game is hard as frak.

Btw Necro a little side note : if you really want to train your troops you have to do certain training methods e.g. equip as much stuff as you can on a guy and let him run around or let him shoot every turn if you want to raise his accuracy but IMO it would be a lame LP if you would try this out cuz it would make the game way to long as it already is on its own

I actually gt a ladimir Rmanv generated into my squad but he had a bravery of 10 but I kept him around cause he had good reactions and firing accuracy.

He was Psi attacked 1 minute into his 1st mission.
