That's some god points. The problems however I had were the number of characters: someone says for example "Danny's turn" and I'd go "Danny who?" Also I think the movie lacked that climactic (but cheesy) scene of sing and joy that you could look forward to, there was the graduation music scene but it was kinda just thrown to your face. Despite all something magical there is that just makes me like this one.
Manny, FYI: Debbie Allen was NOT one of the students in the original movie or in the 1980's TV show. She was the DANCE TEACHER/INSTRUCTOR in both productions & it launched her choreographic and directing career into serious orbit, including choreographing the AMA's, Grammy's, Oscars and directing/producing shows like Different World, and movie like Amstad.
i still want to see this movie but i trully love the ORIGINAL. so confusing if i will be so upset.lol. the dancing would be great but the original has the real feelings when they acted. hmmm. we'll see.lol.
Your review is right on. I took my son to see it and was disappointed. You are right this could have been a Disney made for tv movie. Plus, I get tired of actors/actresses looking like they are 30 playing high school parts. The blonde dancer no way in hell she could pass as a teenager. Come on. It didn't suck entirely though! Thanx.
I have never seen the original movie (which could be a good thing) however, I am a HUGE fan of the television series. I know they're different, this being a reboot of the movie and all.
so... I'll give it a shot, but I'm not going to waste the money watching it. I'll wait for it. I'm not hearing very good reviews on it.
BUT the original was better:)

I totally agree with you but just one correction. In the original movie Debbie Allen was the Dance Teacher not a student.

thank you...you're right about the age thing, some of the actors look long in the tooth to play teens...

OMG i went to see this movie............
I dont even know what the plot was ..............
i was waiting for the movie to start and it just ended.
there was no movie just a bunch of sub plots that were so quickly resolved it shouldn't even be a movie.
i would like them to break this down into ten 20 min episodes and air it on tv as a sitcom..... one that gets canceled after 5 episodes.........
cheese and rice i wasted 30 bucks tonight...........
