They really shouldn't do this song without Steven. He was the one who helped Ed turn it into a duet based song. It's meant to be sung by those two together. I love Kevin, and he has a great voice, but it's not nearly the same as when Steven sang it. His serious tone added a lot to the band. The others are great musicians, but really without either one of Ed or Steven, the band is a shell of what it used to be.

Terrible without Steven. Just a full Goof Band now, Steven was the offset to that Goofyness. He brought the weight of validity to a band that otherwise could be written off as trite pop garbage.

Awww mannn, I know this is the trend to say but seriously..... I don't see why they kept going as a band- sure they're good but you can't cover up the gaping hole in the band. What they should've done is a totally different solo project or new band.... maybe a sorta new genre or SOMETHING..... this is just unbearable and fake.

I love most of the songs without Steve, but some just don't work without him. This and One Week, their greatest hits in a lot of people's opinions, were meant for Ed and Steve, and no one else. Other than those two songs, they are flipping awesome. I LOVE Ed singing What A Good Boy. And their new album is flipping awesome.

I have this album. They hosted it as a free download. I love it. Sure, I miss Steve, but this album showed that they can continue on with the same level of fun and professionalism they always had.

This is the one BNL song Steven says he won't perform because he can't imagine singing it with anyone other than Ed. Ed even realized that they can't perform it without Steven, yet they're still willing to butcher it in public. At 4:09, Ed asks the audience: "Would you folks sing along with us?" because of what he says at 4:14 about Kevin Hearn (who sung Steven's part): "Kev could use the help!".

@bamapagedesign I know they always have but Ed wouldn't have added "Kev could use the help!" if his voice wasn't weak in this performance. Also, I'm not crying. I'm pissed at the others for pushing Steven out of the band and how they treated him even after he wished them well on their website. Steven was one of the two founders of Barenaked Ladies and has a powerful voice. That and his bantering with Ed were huge parts of the band and they're both missing. They are a totally different band now.

@bamapagedesign That was to make themselves look good until they released "You Run Away", where they try to make Steven look bad. Ed even said that it's about anyone who's been with the band for over twenty years on Live with Regis and Kelly. Sorry, but he was pushed out. His interview on W5 proves that. The rest of the band declined W5's interview request, probably because they can't refute his claims. Yes, different doesn't necessarily mean bad but it does in this case in more ways than one.

@billyboobtubeboy Wow. You really have no clue what You Run Away was about. It was incredibly respectful and an homage to Steve. It was about how the entire band was feeling his absence in the band. Steve left, but the rest of the band agreed that was for the best as well. He wasn't "pushed out."

See the issue was BNL only had a few days to rehearse so they just kind of threw this together, so I'm sure when they go on tour next they will be much more rehearsed.
