  • You said at 0:38 seconds, "No other synthesizer does that." But I have no idea what that is that you're referring to, other than that you hit a button and the sound changed. Can you expand?

  • Yeah, this is a groovebox. Not a hardware sequencer. The comparison is unwarranted. Besides...

    OCTOPUS RULES BIAAAAAATCH

  • This is a far superior machine than the Octopus even though it costs half as much. The sounds in the Spectralis are too damn yummy to resist. They are other-worldly, and from what I understand, the GenoQ's Octopus does not have any on-board sounds of its own - you have to use it in conjunction with a CV external synth or two. This thing provides more than enough firepower for any act. You could do a whole show using only the Spectralis.

  • How does this compare against the GenoQs Octopus and other high end sequencers?

  • It does NOT compare as the Octopus is a sequencer only and the Spectralis a sequencer and sound module in one.

As a sequencer the Octopus is by far a more powerfull tool then the Spectralis.

Btw...the Octopus is a MIDI only sequencer and has no CV out.

  • Dude

    some wicked sounds

    Wish I had one!!!

  • Yes people do, but if you are gonna write music (and not experiment) you have to know music theory, where it is almost pre-defined what you have to play to make it sound good.

In my opinion this style of making music is much more musical and original than the "classical" way.

  • @YeahyeahIndeed: I doubt that. If that were true no DJ would have knowledge of music theory. “Rules” for composition exist for a reason and listening to 99.9% of any music, no matter what culture or style, proves it. Originality does not come with absolute tonal freedom but with new interpretations of the existing frameworks and innovative ways of “breaking the rules” in certain contexts.

  • Do you know how much time and effort it takes to make this sort of music? It is the hardest form. You are probably just better because you gave it a try and failed, don't worry, it's not for everyone, only a few who are able.

  • Question: Tis machine is amazing but is also a drum sequence machine? or a machine drum is required for home studio?

  • yep i have the access virus c and fed up with it.

Sounds are cheesy. Paid big money for it too.

Have an RS7000 its the business

  • i stand by what i said. i heard the virus and spectralis side by side at my friend's house. the spectralis has a true expansive analog quality to the sound (even its digital engine)...more pronounced filters, etc. while the virus sounded thin, weedy, weak with aliasing in the high registers. its good for some people, especially with a good bass beat, the beat will overpower virus' thinness, but played without any rhythm, the virus sounds really thin and crappy.

  • It absolutely agree with you

  • access virus is way too overrated...spectralis blows the virus out of the water in terms of sheer sound quality.

  • Oh really. Well, the Spectralis is a groove box with it's own synths it will as a stand alone unit be far more usable for complete works. The Virus is a synth and to be honest, if you'd used one for any length of time you would be unlikley to suggest it gets "blown out of the water" by anything.

Do need to get myself on of these babies though, they are awesome.

  • Nice groovebox!

  • Spectralis sounds for my taste better than Virus or Nordlead!

I wait until OS V1.0 and then buy one! :-)

  • Jesus no Nordleads Kick the shit out of this synth, at least in the Sound department, sounds are cheesy.

  • noice!

  • Clean your ears

  • come on, give us some more minutes!!!

  • specki rules!
