Actually, they learned Cantonese and Mandarin while training in SM because they were supposed to debut in China...hence their group name. But SM decided to send them to Japan in 2005 instead.

The boys had to live in Japan and take lessons...that's how they became fluent in the language.

They were still teenagers (17-19 yrs old) so they were about to learn by living in Japan.

They also learned a lot about the culture.

@TiinaPANDA Changmin ate with his right hand. And I think the reason JJ held the fork in his left hand is because he had to use a knife as well. When you are right handed it is difficult for some use a knife with the left.

But yeah the other three are left handed but can use their right hands as well.

It doesn't seem that Changmin counts since he didn't have a utensil in his hand. All of us can use any hand to hold stuff and essentially he only held the cone in his left hand after picking it up with his right. And JJ is a different story too since he has two utensils and he could just have a personal preference with holding his knife in his right hand since it takes more effort to cut.
