  • This is one episode right half after opening.

  • Comment removed

  • this is when fun was real fun !

  • Great classic cable television !

  • And to think this particular episode was considered controvercial back in the day.

  • I think we coddle too much. Kids are much smarter than we give them credit for and can take it.

  • I always remember this coming on and then the brittish cartoon Dangermouse would come on after

  • Thank you for posting this. I grew up watching this. Those were the good ole days when shows were really good.

  • Bring this show back and get rid of all that foolishness from today.

  • Why was this episode so controversial that it was banned from the U.S.?

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting!!!! Brought back great memories

  • Thanks for this one

  • "Divorce" also known as a legal alternative to murder.

  • I love how I can watch my professor on TV from the 80s...hilarious! ohhhh Justin

  • This episode was the second one banned in Canada.

  • there should be a classic nickelodeon channel with only the old shows and Commercials

  • I think I just lost it when the mother pulled the pin, realized she threw the pen then throws it to her kid. XD OMG that so would NOT fly today, but that is so damn funny!

  • I wonder if anyone out there has the Adoption episode. I wanna see what the big deal is with that one.

  • I have to admit this was one of their better episodes :)

  • Who do you thinks "in the burger!?"

  • @ultimatemegadeath - I heard that!

    LMAO It's a good line.

  • Monty Python with Kids.

  • @Nagneto kids flying circus

  • Wow.. this episode what controversial?

  • I so wanted Christine. mad fat crush

  • What bank decided to give a guy named Barf the loan that would allow him to build a personalized restaurant? What kids would eat at that restaurant? It's as if this show takes place in south jersey.

  • This show is great.. Great memories. The shows now they have for kids stink.

  • anyone notice the teacher had a hitler mustache? baha. i wish i was around for this stuff

  • I heard that this was banned in Canada at the time, but we Americans got to see it.

  • What's so strange now is that we get the uncensored South Park on The Comedy Network here while you Americans got only the censored version.

  • Whatever happened to good TV like this ?

I wish it was the eighties again

  • This show came out on YTV when it went on the air in the late 1980's in Canada. I miss YTV back then because it had good shows, not the nonsense and garbage it has had for the past 6 years.

IF YTV had any fortitude to show this again, I'll watch YTV again...

  • man this show brings back memoiries

  • The kid in the green shirt at 2:56 next to Alisdair is so familiar, I can't put my finger on it.

  • I am in awe of this show. lol Ross. Next thing on my agenda is Rocko's Modern life. .^_^. (Then legends of the hidden Temple, Salute your shorts, Hey dude, David the gnome, then way beck to dummi bears, rainbow bright, Thunder cats!!!, He-man, TMNT, ......wow, this is going to be a long night...lol

    Hey you GUYS!!

  • Moose: Hey Lisa, did you hear Les Lye died?

Lisa: Les Lye died? How tragic.

Moose: Yeah, they didnt have a normal funeral, they didnt even bury the body.

Lisa: Really, so what did they do with the body?

Moose: What do you think is in the burgers?

Sorry couldnt help myself. R.I.P. Les Lye

  • A good conclusion I thought up myself was,

Les: (Pops up from behind Barth's Burgery counter) Daiiiiii heard that!

God bless you Les Lye. You will always be remembered and deeply missed.

    ~Mr. Make Believe

  • @Uniteusall

    Barth: DUH I HEARD THAT!!!!!...and it's true.

  • Nickelodeon would not have the balls to put something like this on TV today...

  • @GenerationXeroFilms you know that block on Teennick The 90s Are All That well I know this show was made in the 80s, but they should still put that on there

  • i used to watch this when i was like 5. the intro is hella disturbing and when barth's face got all cut up it used to scare me as a child. he is pretty disgusting to look at though.

  • Wow I had a thing for Lisa Ruddy growing up, especially in that wonder woman outfit she had on that one time :)

  • Somebody has to post the ep "Weather" where Christine introduces the show covered on a winter cap and a heavy coat, then seductively removes it to reveal a red raincoat and then rips it off, showing off a gray and black two-tone bathing suit! Does anyone else remember this too?

  • I remember this episode. Of course I watched them over and over and over again. I remember that feeling of a new episode!

  • This show will be made of WIN always!

    RIP Les Lye!

  • "Before you make an angel food cake, you have to divorce the eggs".

    Classic!

  • Then there was,

"Okay. So, my mom divorced my dad OVER the side of the boat, INTO the lake!! Then we collected the insurance money, and then we moved here!"

  • Back when networks took major risks with programming. This show would so not happen now...

  • This show was very low budget but it was still probably Nickelodeon's greatest show ever.

  • R.I.P.

  • Truth, salvo.

  • i never liked that Alasdair kid but I thought Marjorie was kinda tasty.

  • Have you seen Marjorie all grown up in that "Project 131" video? As Christopher Walken's character "The Continental" would say, "WOWIE WOW WOW WOW!"

  • I liked em all but I always had a "thing" for the blonde girl...

  • Stupid motormouth Ruddy

  • I remember that house separation thing. Mom gets custody of the TV, but Dad gets custody of the frige! LOL

    Dad got the better deal!

  • I can't believe how so out of control this is! man this is crazy

  • This stuff would never fly nowadays.

    Kids today are pussies.

  • couldn't agree with you more :thumbs up:

  • Likewise.

  • @disconnected22 Kids aren't it's the adults

  • @disconnected22 D'IIII HEARD THAT! i'm one of those kids and i don't really like what they give!

  • @disconnected22 lmao that is so true!!!!!!

  • @disconnected22 Not just kids, parents as well.

  • @disconnected22 kids today aren't pussies; if anything, kids back then were. Who do you think are the ones complaining about violence on TV today? The kids back then, who couldn't handle this stuff.

  • @disconnected22

Its not that kids are pussies. Its the idiotic "think of the children" mentality of the adults in charge that is the problem.

  • @disconnected22

It's true but the sad thing is its OUR generation that are raising the little cockgoblins. I think it was the "self esteem" craze of the 90's. Everyone's special my ass. Everyone's an asshole.

  • Christine, Lisa, and Marjorie - HOTTIES!!

  • They always called Christine "Moose," but I thought she was pretty!

  • me too!

  • @irelandsalvo Pretty? sure. Beautiful? Most definitely!

  • @irelandsalvo Why do they call her Moose?

  • @irelandsalvo they called her Moose cause she would use a

lot of it in her hair

  • "DEEVORSE"...LMBO!!!

  • "What half does she get?"

    POP

    "...that half..."

  • Why didn't his head crack open?

  • Barth's reminds me of the Wal-Mart Radio Grill

  • Oh no Barth's is much nicer.

  • That intro is very disturbing. It used to scare me as a child.

  • I grew up watching this show. Just watching the clips brings back warm fuzzy memories. Alasdar was my first crush :)

  • this show kicked ass...other nick shows i loved was Hey Dude and Salute your Shorts......peace out....

  • I remember this s how used to crack me up...at least the kids on this show looked like normal every day kids...not like now where all you see are the cookie cutter type plastic kids on the disney channel

  • Do you have the one where the kid is in a diaper?

  • "Do you have the one where the kid is in a diaper?"

    --

I'm a child of the 80s and grew up on this show. I remember almost every sketch, every episode. No way can you forget something this damn good.

The "Kid in a diaper" was Kevin Kubachesky (sp?). Lance (the father) had lost the family photo album and was trying to take pictures of Kevin as Kevin appeared as a child.

The punchline at the end goes something like "Now let's go take that picture of you naked on the front lawn."

  • No I'm talking about the episode where they make him wear a really large diaper after he wets the bed. I don't know why but I remember that episode for some odd reason.

  • FUCK YEAH this one is one of favorites

  • This show is the ONE reason why we should all become Canadian!!!

  • 1 star.

  • why 1?

  • Because I thought it was a low quality video, and felt it only deserved 1 star.

  • wish i was canadian when this show was on maybe i coulda got on the show

  • Alistair Cooke was way way cute!

  • That one kid Alistair played on Friday the 13th part 6

  • "I'm gonna tell my mum to get divorced" hahaha

  • Ah, when nickelodeon was young and tv was still fun. you can't do (and DON'T see) that on television anymore. *sigh*

  • LOL I never realized how smart the show was. Its really smartly written

  • nickelodean was great back then. it's so weird seeing this because all of these scenes are etched in my memory but haven't thought about them in over 20 years. i always felt bad for the kids on the show when i was little though, the adults seemed so mean...back then they did at least. nick was def. different back then, after this pete and pete was the only other show that was really good and way ahead of its time. the stuff they have now could never compare to this.

  • Im going to see Alanis Morissette tomorrow and I had to watch some of her old show.

  • I use to like this show so much as a child.

  • I was 9 when this was aired was the best show of its time.

I remeber so vividly sitting with my GI Joes watching YCDTOT. I can still see the same visuals of my childhood watching this again. :D Thanks for posting it!

  • damn. you must be my double or somthing cosiwas about to type somthing almost just like this (only one word off, actually, transformers instead of GI Joes) then i read your post now im kinda freaked. that is so weird.

  • I remember this show it was one of the best show on the air. unlike the crap they show now.

  • i grew up on that show

  • Nickelodeon used to show some sick shit back in the day.

  • I can't believe my parents used to let me watch this show! I suppose that explains a lot :).

  • Wow, I remember seeing this when it was not a rerun...brings back memories. Loved the show.

  • This video is a perfect example as to why I'm so addicted to youtube. LOL

  • man, i remember watching this ep. as a kid.

  • I liked all the preemptions they did at the beginning of every show :)

The series was indeed one of the best kids shows ever on Nickelodeon along with excellent acting. Too bad I can't find reruns in the U.S.A. anymore then again I don't have cable so scratch that. Wish there was a website where they could just post all the episodes or better yet, release them all on DVD if not already :)

Glad to watch some episodes on you tube :)

  • @X23109 SNL use to have the same a similar kind of preemptions in there 4th and 5th season

  • Check your sources. This episode was *not* banned in Canada. It aired normally during reruns.

  • This show brings back memories. I used to watch it every day. It was hilarious.

  • I miss this show so much.

Green slime has never had the same meaning it did when it was on the air.

  • This is when Nickolodeon was good, now all its about are some sexed up sluty ass teeny boopers and some gay as cartoons! Love this show!!!!

  • Yeah, but that makes the most money the fastest. They don't really care about children.

  • holy shit I've wrecking my brain for so long about how this show was called!!! Then they made a joke about it in some family guy episode and showed the name and i immediately looked it up on you tube. Finally!!! I loved this so great to see this again!

  • Best show ever. This show was the reason I had such a crazy youth.

  • thank you, thank you, thank you, i'd thought i would never see this episode (nor this show) ever again. this show made nickolodeon.

  • i was the same age and i wasnt allowed to watch it either!

  • But go figure that it aired Saturday mornings here in Canada on CTV.

  • When I was 4 years old my mother used to not let me watch this show and I used to wonder why? I guess I know the answer now.

  • Funny that it got banned in Canada...I guess divorce is too common to be considered a sensitive issue in the U.S.

  • errrrm.. why did you post this

  • The Teacher was my Fave.

  • I wish Nickelodeon still had shows like this on their network today.

  • what a crazy kids show.....i watched it all the time.......yeah! everything back then was jacked up. pin wheel? fraggle rock? the dark crystal?

  • Holy crap....I remember every word of the Pinwheel song! Man, those were the days...I used to fake being sick so I could stay home and watch pinwheel. Does anyone remember that show that was set in a department store, and there was the mannequin guy who came alive after the store closed?? That was one of my other favs.

  • Hocus-Pocus Alama-GOKUS!

"Today's Special" Shout it loud and clear.

  • YES! That rules! Thanks much!

  • by Dane Youssef

    Yes, that was "Today's Special."

  • this show is b4 my time. can some1 plz explain it 2 me?

  • Hey I remember this episode... I could never forget the disgusting cook. I use to find it unbelieveable that ppl got divorced or seperated.... not so anymore... mine are seperated, and here I thought it was just tv families... oh well

  • To be honest with you, this wasn't appropriate subject matter to base the premise of a YCDTOTV around in 1984,even though kids knew what divorce was.

  • @landrykkb You're saying "it wasn't appropriate subject matter", which is another way of saying "you can't do that on television".... which really makes it perfectly appropriate. ;)

It was just fine, then, or now. The problem is the uptight idiot adults. South Park has them portrayed almost perfectly - with the exception of the SP adults being hands-off. If real adults were so medling-free, kids (and society) today would be SO much better off.

  • I loved watching this show when I was a kid. I don't think I never missed an episode

  • This show wouldn't fly on tv nowadays.

  • But it seems to be flying on Youtube!

  • yes quite well too.

  • Only because the age demographic this targeted is a much better educated one today.

  • Moose still looks like a lesbian, I like the fat blond better, where is she at today... crap she would be about 45 right now...

  • I like your trane of thought...had me laughing out loud in my office.

  • whatever became of christine mcglade?

  • Moose is married with kids. She didn't do much acting after she left YCDTOTV in 1986, but moved into production work instead, working for TVOntario and the CBC. Oh, and judging from the pictures taken of her at the "SlimeCon" reunion in Ottawa a couple of years ago, she still looks A LOT like she did in the '80s.

  • put more episodes up liek the ecectric company blows a fudse, etc.

  • LOVED THIS SHOW! I am a true 80's kid so this was a daily routine in my life. Awesome - thanks for posting!

  • I used to have a major crush on christine mcglade

  • LMAO that's funny....but even funnier is that I had one on Lisa...lmao

  • OMG. I used to have one on Lisa as well. Moose always seemed too much like a mother figure. Now I know why. she was 24 when she left the show.

  • Both her and Christine were very hot,now that I think about it.

  • i use to love this show lol! too bad nickelodean stopped airing it lol! wish they woudl bring back some of these classci funny shows!

  • woah schnider!

  • yep that sure looks like a new family tree.
