  • @Romeo11241

It depends on where you are going in NY. In Delaware and Maryland it seemed like I was being hit up for a toll every mile or so lol. If you are not heading over the bridges or thru the Lincoln tunnel than I would budget $15-17. If you take the gw bridge or the throgs neck then double that figure.

    Really sick video!!!

  • The music reminds me of Sprockets from Saturday Night live.

  • this is so amazing, i can't find any words to describe. respect man. marvelous. i was driving similar distances for example istanbul-Stuttgart (1423 miles), very hard to make in one go without sleeping. also amazing how big the world is. if u look on the map the distance between florida and nyc are a few inches. imagine stars which are billion times bigger than the sun. O_O

    greetings from turkey...

  • I'm leaving on Wednesday to ny from fl also, how much did you spend on tolls?

  • It looks a little awkward...looks like a slide show rather than a time lapse.

  • @BeyondOpenSource I can see your point but I selected the frame rate to go with the music and also to provide just enough time to see each frame. I agree a faster frame rate makes a smoother video and you can see that in some of my other driving time lapses. This one was done for a specific effect. Sit in a dark room and stare at the screen. =)

  • @rob215x Well I won't argue, it looks awesome.

  • There were no traffic at all at I 95 North at all including New Jersey turnpike.

  • Thank you. Nice!

  • Fucking AMAZING!!!!!

  • How many hours did you really spend??

  • Driving? 19 hours.

  • im about to do CT to FL in 3 days, wish i had 19 hours worth of camera space

  • so your going 10,000 miles per hour and you didnt get pulled over by a cop?

  • At 3:47 : I-95 through the City of Richmond, Virginia near Main Street Station (Clock tower) on the right and City Hall and MCV/VCU Hospital with the parking decks on the left.

The Philip Morris sign which is to the left on Bells Road off of I-95 North/South before you get to the downtown area of Richmond.

  • hey, im driving up to florida this year from new york.' and i have a question. what should i do to stay awake all through the drive. im taking like a few of my buddys with me.

  • @patty903 Try taking some ecstacy, or even some cocaine with you - that should do the trick my son.

  • What cty is that at 3:47?

  • this is amazing man

  • I love videos like this. They make me want to get up and GO! The town I live in...no way I'm staying here any longer than I have to.

  • Just did this drive. its a marathon. I'm surprised you didnt stop to eat though

  • amazing.. I was planning doing this in three months holiday

getting afraid of too short time

can't imagine the size of the US cuz I'm from the kingdom of pelekum

  • it would of been nicer if u would of stop the time lapse as u entered each state and stated on the video what state u entered ......i think it would of been a more fulfilling video ..i travel on i 95 north in n carolina all the time to get from raleigh to smithfield..i could not recognize i 95 n in n carolina in this vid....but maybe it the time lapse..lol....hope u had a greeat trip.........

  • awesome bro!!!! how many days of driving did u travel??? only reason im driving to nyc july 4th weekend. was just curious.

  • awesome bro!!!! how many days of driving did u travel??? only reason im driving to nyc july 4th weekend. was just curious.

  • good job

  • Wow, I actually saw my old car in this video. I was skeptical at first, but I had to go back in the video and check out the license plate.

  • @Xboxlivemgear wow thats fuckin interesting!!!! in that big usa you find ur old car :)

  • Tried to make out as much as I could. Looks like you took the looong way, through DC, then I-95 into Philly, over the Walt Whitman into NJ, catching the Turnpike at Exit 3, taking the NJTP to I-278 through Staten Island, over the Verrazano Narrows, to the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan.

  • This is GREAT! how you did that? I did miami to orlando, and munich to amsterdam (europe). but miami to NY is much longer driving as my excursions ;p

  • ive done this trip 7 times in one year whe n i was helping my uncle move to Miami.

Average time was 20 hours,,, one trip we did it in 16 hours,... that was sweet!!!!

  • how many hours did you spent in this trip?

  • Very Cool.

  • FANTASTIC! 5/5

  • very cool. thanks.

  • Nice work!

  • Call me stupid but I have one question: How do you manage to take pictures which are not blurry while driving at night? The D200 doens't have a video function, does it?

  • My understanding is that this is a Time lapse. Series of timed single images (not video)but viewed together, make a moving picture. D200 can be set for interval timing and let to take pictures.

Pictures are (or may be) blurry but because they are viewed as a film, blur is consistent with the motion of the action and doesn't notice - same as films.

  • so ya a middle lane driver? lol

  • man that was well done, i did orlando to miami and it looked like crap

  • That was AMAZING !!!!!!!~

  • Great video, I really want to go to America, especially New York, and I guess that's why gap years are so fun, and useful!

  • Great.

  • ICU baltimore tunnel!

  • Wonderful. Especially the last minute or so in New York.

  • wow that vehicle has to be really fuel efficient because you didnt make many stops

  • I started out at a gas station. There are two gas stops in the video, one at 1:49 and another at 5:23. There was a gas stop at 4:15 that I edited out.

  • Cool I understand. Thats still good gas mileage there. When I went on a road trip to Virginia, we made at least 6 stops or more. But you went all the way to the NY with less stops than me LOL

  • what car is that

  • wouldnt be that fuel efficient if that was real time :D a full tank of petrol in 1 minutes 50 ha ha

  • Why didn't you go through the Holland or Lincoln tunnel? Looks like you went east to come back west. Very cool video though, thanks for sharing.

  • Cool Vid!

  • Lol if you watch really closly at 5:49 you can see that wall in New York with the big Grand Theft Auto 4 poster.

    Nice Video

  • At any time did you pass Richmond, VA?

  • @rob:

i'd suppose you to add the information about title and permission to the video description ;) maybe further viewers would like to know?

your choice concerning the audio track is great, it fits perfectly on the images. especially (i have no clue wether this happened randomly or not) the track's downpass (between 2:13 and 2:42) has just the right position within the video, enframing sunrise and single sun shots...

btw, do you have any clue where i could digitally buy this track?

  • I love when you're driving to New York and you can see the buildings in the distance. It's a sign of relief for me after a long drive.

  • Yes! I agree. =)

  • i like that vid, buddy! great job! =)

the song is by christopher lawrence, i know that, but i have no clue what the title is... could anyone help me (by pm)? thanks!

  • The track is "New Day" and in case you are wondering, I've met with Chris Lawrence, in person, several times and I have express permission from both him and his label to use this track. They also have a High Definition copy of my time lapse to use for visuals. I'm only saying this because of the stupid policy to remove professional videos that contain copyrighted tracks when, instead, they could be helping to sell more tracks. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for the compliment.

  • did u set the camera to automatically take a certain number of pictures every minute or something

  • Yes the camera was connected to a laptop and took a picture every 12 seconds

  • How every often did you take shots ?

  • Do you have a Flickr account dude ?

  • Yes, flickr com/photos/rob215 - I haven't updated it a while though

  • Nothing short of awesome

  • Thanks!!!

  • @rob215x wow nyc is crowded. How long did you take by car? Nice vid btw i liked!

  • This video should be on YouTube's homepage, it is so amazing !

  • Thanks, I agree. Only this version looks horrible compared to the original High Def version. I wish YouTube had an option to upload my video again and keep all of the existing comments, etc. I guess they don't do that because people would cheat and upload something different?

  • @rob215x this is why you should vimeo for video art purposes.

concerning the video: it's f*cking godlike. music and pictures fit together like a vp* into a vag* (sorry for that, but that's the best comparison i could find!) - definately one of the best time lapse videos i've seen so far. thumbs up a hundred times!

  • AMAZING !!!!!!!

  • really nice vid. you might wanna check out my time lapse. its around the race thrack in germany called nürburgring.

  • Cool video! Too bad the first few hundred miles it was nighttime and I couldn't see a whole lot.

  • It made me dizzy, but this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!

    Did you pass through Delaware?

    My home state?

    :-)

  • This is an awesome video, but I think it should have been slowed way down. It is impossible to comprehend the surroundings and connect the frames. It looks like a load of random highway pictures being played back at 15FPS.

  • Thanks, I think the compression of youtube makes it look more choppy. It looks much better in full HD on a 40" LCD television! =)

Also, at the time, I didn't have the resources to shoot at a faster frame rate. These days, I have 8GB memory cards and I can shoot more frames. Check out one of my newer driving time lapse videos and I think you'll agree they are smoother, even though youtube still compresses them to 15FPS.

  • @SouthwesternEagle oh I didn't think so. But then again, Iv'e made this trip a million times. So I was able to say, ok, he's in the Carolinas... headed into Ricmond VA, into Maryland, etc. GREAT video!

  • @pamelac123 That comment was made so long ago. I still agree with it, so it is still relevant. I've never been down the Eastern Seaboard, or anywhere. I was in DC once, but that's it.

  • u mothfucker ima bang ur wife and make a kid out of her u japan shithead!!!

  • il bang her 2!

  • hyperspeed!

  • i think i will catch a plane...

  • yeah me too but i still respect this guys work

  • Very nice. I've traveled from Florida to New York more than once, and it always took me way longer than 6 minutes.

  • I did this route once but it was in August 2001 with Amtrak

  • if you ever do that again please take me with you.

  • how do you put the camera while you are driving?

  • freakin awesome.

  • lol, thistotally remindsmeofmy long drivestosan diego fromvegas

  • Cool vid! I drove from Orlndo to LongIsland with a friend in Aug'08. As soon as we hit the hwy it poured like a son ofa bitch up until Daytona. There were cars on the side of the road and shit. I applied rain-x to my windshield the day b4 and it worked wonders. We hit traffic Richmond. Then we hit mega amounts of traffic in DC. That was 3hours of shit. Also this one car rode with us from like GA to the Jersey Tpke. It was funny. We stopped at the same rest areas and lolled about it in Baltimore

  • Thanks! Yes, Rain-X is awesome! If you notice, I cut through the center of DC to avoid the crap. =)

  • Driving thru america looks boring?! lol!

  • Well, I-95 is the highway I took most of the way and yes, its pretty boring. I'm guessing you live somewhere else in the world? There are many highways in America that are more scenic. I was simply taking the fastest route to get from Florida to New York City.

  • Cool, a friend of mine wanted to do something like this but he isn't OTR any more. i have always been curious how it would look.

  • wow

  • Correction, you went on to New York Ave that does connect to 295

  • Yeah I heard about a big pile up on I-95 and I wanted to avoid it.

  • Great stuff, it looks like you went north in Washington DC from 395 to the National Mall and than took 295 and connect to I-95 again. Oh by the way, there are no alternative to skip the toll roads from Maryland to Delaware. There is an alternative route to the NJ Parkway, but is waste of gas....

  • Epic

  • how long did you drive

  • I drove from Orlando Florida to 20 minutes outside of NYC, took me a little over 17 hours. That of course includes pit stops and traffic. But pretty much i drive straight from Orlando to my destination

  • How many kilometers or miles did you drive?

  • It was roughly 1,050 Miles

  • oh and by the way, this is NOT me in the video, im just talking from personal experience, so i dont know the exact route this guy took to new york.

  • Do you have the hi-definition version uploaded in hi-definition anywhere? My monitor happens to be 1920*1200 and youtube is only 600*480~ or something small I wana watch in HD! =)

  • The HD version is too big to put on the web but you can see a *MUCH* higher quality version on my web site (listed in the info above).

  • Do you know how to upload it on a torrent site?? There is plenty of ways you can upload it.

  • Loved it! Thanks!

  • That was epic. At 5:47 I couldn't help but think of Project gotham racing.

  • Amazing! Five stars!

  • Thanks, I just watched a couple of your interviews. Very Cool!

  • Idea

  • Can you tell me where in the video do you pass: Jacksonville, South of the Border, Richmond, Baltimore?

  • Here are some highlights: 0:48 Palm Bay, FL 1:29 Jacksonville, FL 1:49 first gas stop, Georgia 2:48 SC / NC border, "South of the Border" 3:47 Richmond, VA 4:12 Washington D.C. 4:30 Baltimore, MD tunnel 5:09 New Jersey Turnpike 5:23 third gas stop, NJ 5:39 Verrazano Bridge, NY 5:45 Brooklyn Bridge, NY
  • Staten Island FTW!!

  • Ha at 5:24 thats the sunoco I always stop at while heading north. Cool video! How'd you keep the battery going? Hooked it up to the car?

  • wow, is it ok if I use this as an intro into one of my videos? I will post a link to ur video and give u full credit.

I expect over 5,000 views on my vid and I will link it to yours if u wish?

    How about it? :D:D

  • dude did you drink your weight in coffee and red bull

  • just coffee and frappucinos

  • Great Job... i've driven all of this at some point, and know I-95 in VA too well.. great to see it flash by. 5 stars!

  • Song ?

  • As stated above in the description, music is by Christopher Lawrence, track is "New Day", specially remixed for this video on DVD. Be sure to check out both of our web sites, listed at the end of the video. =)

  • south of the border

  • thts a really cool kick ass video!! Correct me if im wrong, but were u in nj by the 5th minute?

  • At 4:48 in the video, I'm entering New Jersey. =)

  • I do these kind of movies with a Canon SD750 Powershot.

  • What was the interval time between the shots?

  • I have the D200. How did you do this?

  • Excellent job. I love these compressed views. Very cool.

  • Amazing vid, really great, thx for the trip :)

  • very nice

  • Amazing. Well done!

  • I think you went through a truck around 1:19...

Very cool video! It's added to my favorites!

  • cool vid. i remember when i drove from Rhode Island to Florida. my butt hurt for days.

  • woooooooooooa. New york has a LOT of ppl there but florida is realy pretty

  • i do this drive 2 times a year, wish it was that quick, great idea, the good ole jersey tpike was still too long, haha

  • interesting watch

  • ke weba xD

  • Hey, nice work.

What interval did you use for this? And, how did you mount the camera?

Did you just keep restarting after the 999 max photos? And change batteries after they went flat?

And, what software did you use to compile it?

    Cheers.

  • 1. Interval = 10 seconds.

    2. Camera on a tripod on passenger floor plus gaffer's tape. I'm working on a more solid mount.

    3. Camera to Mac Powerbook via USB, both powered using AC adapters and a 12v inverter. Nikon software on the Mac triggered the camera. The 999 limit should be 9999 except you would fill a 4GB card before you hit 5000.

    4. Custom Photoshop actions, batch command, Quicktime Pro, Audacity.

This version is a mere taste of the 1920 x 1080 HD version!

    Hope that helps. =)

  • Yeah, that does, cheers.

I just started playing with my intervalometer with a few different things, but haven't had much luck with software to compile. I've heard Final Cut Pro is pretty good for it, but I've only got iMovie HD at the moment..

I'll check out the photoshop batch stuff, ta.

  • nice work, i have subscribed, look forward to seeing more time lapse in the future!
