  • If we have individual freedom then we are all Oligarchs.

  • The "NEW" economy is a hoax? The U.S. economy has been a hoax for more than a century. Capitalism can never be more than a stepping stone for a civilized society. It CAN'T exist permanently since it needs constant growth and we have limited resources. How long do you think it's going to be until the American middle class is dumped & Wall St. moves on to another host to suck the blood of? Like China - who has a much larger population, a growing middle class & has already been programmed to obey.

  • @tripfunkmonster Nonsense, capitalism is the only way. Government is the problem. You need to understand this.

  • @TWSceptic: Instead of spouting a soundbite - give me some facts. Dispute my claims explaining the obvious immorality and temporary state of Capitalism - which is merely the religion of Corporatocracy. In particular, address the issue of continuing a system in which it's own adherents admit needs constant growth to work but doesn't even attempt to explain how that's possible.

  • @tripfunkmonster "address the issue of continuing a system in which it's own adherents admit needs constant growth to work but doesn't even attempt to explain how that's possible"

Not sure what you understand under 'constant growth'. True capitalism will indeed increase prosperity and reduce poverty for all. Over time, and if government doesn't screw up (which unfortunately it does), capitalism gives everyone the opportunity to become wealthy. Communism & socialism cause poverty and dependence.

  • @TWSceptic: Problems with your comment: First, why do you assume there is either Capitalism or Socialism/Communism? That is a seious flaw in your thinking. The last Communist society was Jesus & the "Early Christians". Second, "constant growth" is widely ackowledged by Capitalists to be a necessary part of their system, it's not my term. Third, your statement that Capitlism will increase prosperity & reduce poverty "for all" is an embarrassing fairy tale. Facts show widespread poverty...

  • @TWSceptic ...is a constant result of heartless economic policies of Capitalism in which corporate profits are considered more important than the well being of the human population. How can you argue against that reality? It's so obvious I feel embarrassed to have to point it out. We are all indoctrinated in Capitalism here in the U.S. If you say it's different in Belgium, so be it. Here we are bombarded by Capitalist propaganda all day long every day of our lives - TV, movies, newspapers...

  • @TWSceptic ...radio, billboards, magazines, etc. Even the every day conversations we hear are imbued with pieces of Capitalist propaganda. I broke from it by learning how to think for myself. I read more "conservative" books, articles, etc. than "liberal". Conservatives give me more info on how they think & what their priorities are. Another point: The "Socialism" in my country is Social Security - the most important gov't. program in our history - & bank bailouts to billionaires. Corporate...

  • @TWSceptic ...Socialism is actually Fascism - the convergance of corporations & government. This is a situation where corporations purchase government thereby negating democracy or even a constitutional republic from existing. Propaganda is used most effectively by those who have the money. Remember:"follow the money." In the U.S., the banks (Corporate Elite) have most of the money. Tens of millions of citizens of this "bastion of Capitalism" live in poverty, many dying of starvation EVERY DAY.

  • Now I get it both parties have determined to make us a third world country by spreading the wealth around literary"

So other Nations can be equal except if your communist China... Equality for every one they call it part of the new world order

  • Reduce the capital gains tax to zero.

  • @jscottupton That is the opposite of what he was saying. It was the desire for capital gains on the short term that caused this problem in the first place

  • He's the father of reaganomics and then talks about offshore being a problem, but Reagan gave tax breaks to companies that went overseas.

  • this is scary. I think it's just the pro business world we live in. You'll make a greater profit for your shareholders if you can pay your costs are lower. Therefore hiring people and paying them less money, makes your profits higher because you don't have such huge expensives.

  • @mickeymoo26: That is the society we've built in the Fundamentalist Capitalist Era. People aren't worth as much as profits. The commandments of Capitalism dictate reducing the wages of people to a point just above armed revolution. It's done with unlimited illegal immigration, reduced education, elimination of health benefits, privatization (elimination) of social security and offshoring jobs - preferably to 3rd world nations with slave labor (like Reagan's Commerce Dept. advised U.S. firms).
