Green neons would look awesome. J.k J.k J.k. some retard will say that sooner or later. lmao. love the idle. I'm running 272/272 if i ever go Gt40 then i'll go 280.
yes, i am aware that each manufacturer has their own specs for lift, but anyway you look at it, the valve stays open through 280 degrees of camshaft rotation with any "280" camshaft.
and actually im going with a 272 intake and a 280 exhaust cam.
did you have to change anything to run e85 at first...ie: Tune, fuel filter, injectors,? anything like that or could i just go to a e85 pump and put it in my car?
My car is run on E85. Basically ethanol. And ethanol is more oxygenated than gas, therefore it requires to be run at richer AFR - about 30% richer than gasoline. It simply doesn't need as much air as gasoline to burn. Which is a good thing for making power.
So you will be fine with 780 on pump, but if you ever decide to switch to ethanol, you might as well get 1000 or 1050's. They will be enough for a stock frame turbo (IX, green, etc) and are just as driveable on stock ECU as smaller ones.
Yeah the consensus is that E85 will have more exhaust flow because it's a more oxygenated fuel than gas therefore it should be able to spool a turbo faster. I wasn't paying attention when i switched because i also switched from running 21psi on gas to 28psi on E85. I do get full spool before 4k rpms and it's good enough for me :))
I'm also waiting to upgrade my Green LT turbo to an HTA version from Forced Performance, that will have a billet compressor wheel, which will spool even faster..
so you went from 21 to 28 psi you must be making some serious power they say E85 goes in cooler and burns hotter its like race gas for cheaper than 87 octane we we get a few more e85 pumps I am going for a full tune and running only e85 right now I run half a tank of each with no tune
if your wondering, the FP green turbo has nothing to do with the idle, its the cams and their intake/exhaust duration which make the valves overlaps which causes the lopy idle. i farken love the idle but i have 272's :P
this is the same set up i have but its not on the car yet... how much power are you putting down?

just an fyi but "272" or "280" doesn't mean everything. for example kelford 272's are more aggressive that the hks 280's.

You need big injectors and a retune. Google: "e85 green evolutionm" and go to first link.
frenchconnector 3 years ago
hey im about to run the fp green in a couple months, why do you have 1000cc injectors? dont u only need 780's at the most?

do you have any starting issues? takes me like 4 attempts to get cranked!
tarmacblack1 3 years ago
It always starts right up on like half crank. Even at below 0F in MN freezing winter.
Now it does like a tap on the gas pedal on a warm start. But this is more of a bigger injector issue. Lots of people have it.
You may have leaky injectors or FPR. Or it could be something else..

the subaru guys say there turbos spool faster on E85 have you noticed your boost comming on quicker ??
