@akindofblue3 Proby claims he's the son of a successful Texas banker who sent him to the top military academies in the U.S. and paid for lessons from one of Hollywood's top voice coaches. Nobody calls that a poor white boy. Only suckers believe Jagger, Jones, Jackon, or Madonna stole anything from PJ Proby. Proby tried to promote one of his own '80s records by claiming Madonna was singing with him. Nobody believed that either. Madonna was on top of the world and Proby was a forgotten drunk.
Ya know, I could watch this over and over. It captures PJ at his top, and I'd have to say this is his finest moment. However, since he is still alive, who knows?
@fannycraddock99 - the best artiste Motown never had, but then they did not employ poor white boys in them thar days. Things have changed now with the likes of Mike McDonald. Thing with Proby is that he could outdo just about anyone at their own sound, then laugh and go do country or ballad, or rock. He was awesome and untouchable - a musical chameleon before Jagger, Tom Jones, Bowie, Madonna or Michael Jackson stole the concept.
take care pj love you . from christine.
