Its not a pure mage if u wear armor. You have to enchant robes. No offense. Hes still good

i have 100 alteration conjuration illusion mysticm and im on ps3 :) but i hate the fact that your magic stops after your intelligence is max =( im stuck on 450 magicka :( i want to cast enimies explode :(

The perfect Mage, or at least probably the most powerful Mage you could creat is an Altmer, with the Apprentice Birthsign, wearing 8 pieces of clothing enchanted with Fortify Magicka, with a Fur Shield and any bow equipped, Fur Shield with Fortify Magicka Enchantment.

850 Magicka right there, Fortify Magicka and Intelligence 100 points for 120 seconds costs around 600 Magicka and grants an extra 300 per casting.

Chameleon 100 points for 120 seconds has a similer low cost. Commanding a single target at any level (maximum magnitude) for 120 seconds is also quite cheap.

In fact a player with this level of power could fly around at 300 Speed and Athletics, with 2000+ Magicka, completely invisible and kill everything. Wether or not anyone would find that fun, is up to the individual. I prefer not having to constantly cast a dozen spells to be invincible, when I can leave another character unattended.

all dunmers have is the same destruction bonus as the altmer. i agree their ugly, but the main point i wanted to make was that a mix of breton and apprentice worse than undermines the point of a breton. and when your in first person mode you cant see how ugly the altmer are. in the long run a breton without the aprentices weakness is the best mage you can make and are amazing with the mundane ring, which is super easy to get. at the end of the game you magic skills are max and melee is useless.

your character sucks. I'm sick of people choosing the breton race and the apprentice birthsign, then complain how the altmer are so weak against magic. your guy has a 50% weakness to magic all up, whilst a altmer without a birthsign gets the sam magika bonus and only has a 25% to fire, frost and shock each. thats only a few parts of magic and half your weaknessess. also you can enchant armour with much better armour than your crap and using transcedent sigil stones with element shields.

@falter989 Altmer are ugly as fuck , they are tall and suck at magic . Face it , bretons can kick asses with magic as well as they can kick asses with melee weapons . They are the strongest in TES . Also , Dunmers can be better mages than the fucking altmers .

once you join the mages guild how do you get new spells? and if ur mage only why don u have like cloth armor and a staff can u be like an archer and mage?

@tinylittlesoldier well the mages guild lets you enchant items and make spells. You can buy spells even if your not in Mages guild. But to enchant or make spells there are Altars in some of the rooms in the Arcane University, in the Leader of the Mages guild room, and in a castle in one of the DLCs.

You can choose a character with high magika at the start and a sign that then increases ur magic. other than that i cant remember cause i havent played Oblivion in awhile. hope this helps. =)

@sijht10 maybe late comment but i have a character high elf wiht atronach and 50 to my armor and 75 % spell absorbtion adn i come almost at 1000 magicka

@Mattcamel51 You can duplicate a ring with two scrolls and then wear one of the two rings, then duplicate the one you're not wearing, and you'll be left with the 2 rings off of your hand and the ring's enchantment permanently applied. I only had about 700 magicka and needed over 1,000, so i just kept doing that for the Xbox version until I had enough to cast whatever I wanted, and I'm only about a level 35 or so.

@sijht10 Don't know if you still play, but once you start leveling magic skills like destruction or conjuration, the amount of magicka needed to cast this spell will reduce, when you are master of that skill, and you have 100 intelligence you should be able to cast most of these spells.

I were mage clothes also, I was just showing the armor that I had. And I 90/100% use magic only.
