Thanks for the support Matrix. I'm proud to say I'm done with Dracula's Curse. The final boss fight was harder than hell for me. It took me a long time to develop a strategy. At first I was throwing knives at him to stay away from his first form, but then I realized I had to have the axe to hit up and diagonal (for the second and third forms).
I don't like being constrained with the whip. I did appreciate in C3 the ability to "rapid whip" on the stairs, but nothing beats whipping in 8 directions like in C4. For this boss, yeah it was tense but not because I didn't think I'd win. I wanted to beat the level in one life which I did. The last form hit me a couple of times because I wastn't paying attention w/ Syfa. I was seeing how much damage her spread attack was going to do on him
@bickbenedict1111 Not that I'm a fan of artificial difficulty, but if there was 8 way whipping in this game, it'd be much easier. CV4 was much easier because of that. Still awesome though. CV3 is my favorite of the NES trilogy.
May I ask what you mean by "artificial difficulty?" 8-way whipping does make for easier gameplay (CV4 is simple because of it), but man is it satisfying. CV3 is also my favorite of the NES trilogy. You should try to beat CV1. I never thought I would be able to beat it, but my brother beat it after like 100 attempts and he got me to play it and I beat it eventually.
@bickbenedict1111 Artificial difficulty would be like, for example - playing CV4 without the 8 way whipping or the ability to change direction mid jump The old CV games are like that by design, but you could appy it there too. It would make the game hard, just by taking away things that make the game manageable. Infinitely respawning enemies are another way (in modern games I mean). I have CV1 for the GBA and the NES, but I just don't have the desire to tackle that challenge at the moment.
Haha, I could tell that the last form of Dracula was tense. Good show, good show. =D

@matrixandraia
Oh, I think I know what you mean. Like some people who post videos of Contra where they play the whole game using only the rifle?

@bickbenedict1111 Yeah, that's one way of saying it. But I more meant with developers that do it. What you said is a perfect example though.
