  • one of the best 80's guitar solos, love the tone of the guitar

  • Yeah, this video is REALLY POOR Quality; sound sucks :( I clicked like, 'cause I like the song and the group, but your VEVO Video is bs.

  • fucking buffering hate Vevo

  • rkerover@aol.com

  • I am here to listen to the tubes do talk to ya later and THE FUCKING COMMERCIAL IS LOUDER THAN THE SONG I WANT TO HEAR...fuck off youtube ..that was bought by google you suck..you bought youtube ..but you suck. ...youre commercials make listening to good songs a bad experience... fuck off

  • video didnt kill the radio star commercials did ....

  • when music was music

  • why cant i hear this louuuddd??? wtf has happened to that aspect youdtube sucks dick now they sold out

  • your funny what do you think da no

  • Thank goodness for vinyl..True co-write by "Tubes-(producer David)Foster-Lukather", and in the thank you's "Steve Lukather Courtesy of Columbia Records (Guitar on 'Talk To Ya Later')"

  • The guitarist was Steve Lukather.

  • @ddill2000 He also Co-wrote it

  • @ddill2000 I used to think so, too. However, he would've been performing with Toto at the time, and wikipedia (not that it's always a credible source of info.) doesn't include Steve Lukather as performing with the Tubes at all. It does seem like his style of guitar awesome-ness in several parts of this great song, however.

  • "It's been six months she hasn't shut up once"

    Reminds me of a joke.

Why did they cut off Marie Antoinette?

Because that is where the sound was coming from.

I always ask girls that talk to much that question. Shuts them up fast.

  • It's all about that McD-ified pre-chorus...

  • been 12 years - she hasn't shut up once

  • Accordin to Fee he wanted this to be like a election video gone bad he wanted to stage a attack and have secret service men attckin the bad guys instead the video producers and the money people talked him out of it this is was shot back stage after a concert using fans and staff these guys truly had a ultra cool band this song has a record in the books unofficially as the last song at proms and school functions and its playeed more then Last Dance is at the end due to it rocks people out Rock On

  • This song reached #101 in 1981. (U.S., Billboard) -- It was the follow-up release to their Top 40 hit, "Don't Want to Wait Anymore."

  • Was Paul Reiser lead singer of The Tubes before or after he was on Mad about You?

  • I have not seen this video since approx 84! This is from when MTV was a REAL channel! I love this little synth solo in the song! This is so ancient, like me!

  • 1981 the year I graduated High School.

  • @kenns9 Makes you feel old and that the music today is not as good as what we grew up on.

  • Still got the vid. Real classic from real creatives.

  • Vevo hanging up my download!

  • i had the pleasure of spending my 18th birthday, 1985, on the side of the stage watching these guys perform, thanks to Cheryl Hangland, one of the dancers, who grew up two blocks from me. I did a story on her at our High School, and how convenient the upcoming concert would be on MY 18th! I got to go on stage as a prop, too. BEST BDAY EVER. THANKS Fee, Prairie, and Cheryl!

  • um actually 70's but who's counting

  • @shannonxy2xx Actually this song was on the Completion Backwards Principle album in 1981

  • @n2muzyk o!

  • 4 people must talk to them selves

  • JFM!!!

  • Wish it was louder have to turn up my speaker to 9 and I have good speakers

  • Another great video from an amazing band. I remember staying up late hoping to catch this video on MTV (back when they actually played videos). Thanks for posting.

  • this is when music was music and god bless the 80's and when MTV played real music videos

  • Saw the Tubes back in the late 80's at the Indiana University auditorium, great show! There musta been 25 people on stage lol

  • Saw the Tubes back in the late 80's at the Indiana University auditorium, great show!

  • What the hell is Man gaga doin on my video? get out!

  • JFM!!

  • Saw this same band at the 1982 BAMMYs and was blown further away than Huey Lewis and f thoze nites.that still shines and gives ya a bad buzz.

  • @Mrquadracer1= Grunge rock did take over. RThen Kurt Cobain blew his head off, and left a void that was unfortunately filled with disposable pop, like boy groups and bimbos with way too much makeup. You should see Mike Judge's film, Idiocracy.

  • @vigo894 did you forget about Dave Groh and the Fooo Fighters?

  • I'm going to make EMI SHOW the production and then the record stores show their sales.

I'm sick of this blatant misuse of the music industry by drug dealers to launder their money.

Yea I know they will come after me but I'm sick of this crap.

I'm going to expose this crap.

  • MrQuad .. this isn't old music this is when musicians actaully were playing music and trying to make it as a band.

Now its rap and the rap csars that are laundering the crack money through false sales.. you think Z sold 9 million albums? ....

hahahh just burn those albums (if they were ever really made) and say he did then put the money in the bank.

Are you kids that retarded? Crack rappers took over the industry to launder the drug money.

and the biz guys take their cut and allow it.

  • @bytebull= Music has been going downhill since September of 1991. I stopped being a mainstream follwer and starting playing country music. That's how bad Mtv got for me. Then I went Techno and trance between 1993 and 2002. That's enough there I don't wanna bore you further. You're right. Kanye West sucks as well.

  • Perfect Wedding song!

  • Sure beats the shit out of the garbage our kids listen to, doesn't it? Ever hear of the word "melody", Junior?

  • 2 people never got talked to again.

  • I have "White Punks On Dope" on 8 Track. I found it in an old abandoned 78-ish Cadillac sitting in a field. One of my more cooler finds from my dumpster diving days.

  • this is when music was music not the crap now and when MTV played real Videos before all the crap shows that are now and also with the crap show Jersey Shore.God Bless the 80's

  • Hope you like!

  • why the HELL is the audio so low? EMI pull your head out of your ass!

  • WHY IS THE OLD SHIT ON VEVO.FUCK ALL THIS ADVERTISING SHIT BEFORE EVERY FUCKING VIDEO.THEN IT TAKES FOR FUCKING EVER FOR THE DAMN VIDEOS TO LOAD ALL THE FUCKING WAY UP.BULLSHIT VEVO.FUCKING ASSHOLES.

  • NICE!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sick song.

  • In early 1976, my Junior year of HS, our chorus attended a festival at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Several of the other ornery guys and I took my sister's car (she was there in college) and drove around looking for the dirtiest magazine we could find. I bought a 'High Society', which turned out to be their very first issue, and inside was a story about "The Tubes" (yes, I looked at ALL the pictures - ha!). I always feel a bit naughty when I hear their songs because of that.

  • Takes me way back to the early 1980s. Darn good song, too...I especially like the high harmonies thanks to Vince Welnick, and the bass line is cool.

  • Missin old Mtv.....

  • Anyone remember seeing these guy's on SCTV.....

  • @HippieJimi That was one of SCTV's best bits, with John Candy as Gil the Fishin' Musican. Now it's finally available on DVD.

  • @manhunter86 Right your are 86....

  • @manhunter86 Right your are 86....in fact they were on 2 times, saw them later here in Philly, and we were hanging out after the show, and I brought that up,they said they had a great time doing the shows....How could you not, with the SCTV guys+gals....You stay Cool man..... Jimi :-)

  • @HippieJimi That's funny....I saw The Tubes in Pittsburgh in the summer of '85. I caught Vince W. by the tour bus and brought up that episode of SCTV (the first one, in 1981). He also said it was a blast.

  • @HippieJimi That's funny....I saw The Tubes in Pittsburgh in the summer of '85. I caught Vince W. by the tour bus and brought up that episode of SCTV (the first one, in 1981). He also said it was a blast.

  • @HippieJimi Actually, while the Tubes may have recorded their bits for their SCTV appearance on two separate occasions, the band only appeared on Episode #86...which first aired July 24, 1981 (and re-aired several times after). Both "Sushi Girl" and "Talk to Ya Later" are contained within that episode. Fans of the band, or the classic TV show, should pick up the DVD's. (The Tubes episode is on Volume One). They're kind of pricey though.

  • @Mandrakegray ....You are correct Sir...I take my hat off to ya....It's all coming back to me now...I remember Sushi Girl also...You stay Cool now,and I'll Talk to Ya Later....Jimi :-)

  • I helped them write this song.

  • @tacomadavid68 did you get money and copy rights for doing soo?

  • The Tubes were (and are still) a great band. And yes, it was good to see this on Mtv back in the day when we had such a thing as music videos and not the crap they've been showing the past 15 or more years.....

  • Was Bernie Kosar lead singer of The Tubes before or after he QB the Cleveland Browns?

  • @BillyShears999 Don't you talk that way about Fee! Who kicks more ass than Fee? NOBODY!

  • @BillyShears999 GOOD comparison!!

  • I was fortunate to see The Tubes pump out an energetic show! David Bowie loved the Tubes and they were on first, then Peter Gabriel then Bowie! what a dynamite triple bill in Vancouver BC Canada

  • Tubes Rule - they need to tour now !! PLAY now - 'be great if they could open up for Stones today ! such an important serious band in history !!

  • 2:35 OMG It's the Main Menu theme from Marvel vs.Capcom 3. Haha!

  • Great song.

  • This song cooks!

  • Part of the guitar riff in this song sounds like Van Halen's "Little Guitar's".

  • @MadManLoomis all about these guys are OH so much better than crap Van halen.. halen got better with Sammy.. :) !! Tubes rule!

  • @gremlinjr I agree. Just saying it sounds similar. Not saying either one ripped off the other just an interesting point I noticed.

  • Isn't that actually Toto's Steve Lukather playing those ROCKIN' guitar solos? It sure SOUNDS like him and I don't think, as good as they were, that there was anyone in The Tubes who could play THE SHIT out of the guitar like that!

  • @dansteely77 Very good ear. Not only did Lukather play the solo, but apparently he wrote the song, his first hit. Steve Lukather's musical resume, just the hits he helped create as a studio guitarist, is staggering in sheer scope and size.

    stevelukather . net / Sessions

Though I didn't realize David Foster's major direction in helping to sculpt the Tubes 'sound' on The Completion Backward Principle.

  • Thumbs up if you saw this on MTV in the early days!

  • "It's been 6 months...she hasn't shut up once." What a great line.

  • the guitarist in my dads band listend to this for 5 min and got the hole song learned

  • @robertbombino999 Does the guitarist in your dad's band have a couple of top 40 hits like the Tubes ?

  • @jmallton probly not but i bet ur moms vag has

  • @robertbombino999 What's your point? Any decent guitarist can learn almost any song very quickly. Ity's not about complexity, it's about originality.

  • Fuck you Vevo. Fuck you!

  • The coolest thing about this video and song is that almost 30 years (!!) later, both song and video hold the test of time. Great song and look.

  • Quite possibly the best solo ever!

  • Timeless

  • Man, talk about a band that never got the credit it deserved........

  • One of the best 80's tunes ever!!!!!! I miss these days!!

  • I wish this were still a staple of rock radio playlists like it once was......those were the days........

  • screw VeVO....and all ads....why is the volume so low?

  • Why is the commercial so fucking loud and then the video's music isn't?

    Bullshit.

  • I HATE YouTube videos with commercials!!!

  • The guitar solo at the end of the song always impressed me.

Ripping Solo!, and a Super Cool song.

    Great LIVE Band....

    Love those guys.

  • @chris221gm Lead guitarist is Steve Lukather, who went on to having bunch of 80's-90's hits with Toto. Still performs; probably one of the most underrated guitarists of that timeframe.

  • @scubarulz i agree he does,nt get the recognition he deserves even though africa and rosanna are on the radio regularly . trends and fads seem to be the norm and the real talent get,s left behind.people who know luke have the greatest respect for him like eddie van halen and quincy jones so you know ,it,s a tough business!

  • Comment removed

  • @chris221gm The Guitar on this song is actually played by Steve Lukather (toto) and he also co- wrote it with David Foster

  • @chris221gm Indeed one of the best, bad ass guitar leads in the 80s still love it

  • Why can't MTV go back to playing music, wait, does it even exist now?

  • They played at WPI college in the early 80's, probably '81. They all came out in suits and did this song. Great memory- thanks for posting. Fee has a great voice. Band came in with great harmonies.

  • I was actually thinking what Rock AOR song I could look up on YT, on demand...this was the one! Cool promo I'd never seen too!

  • What garbage is this, a justin beiber advertisement on a Tubes vid? thats crap.

  • This song never got it's due. In fact, The Tubes never got their due... It still sounds fresh.

  • Justin Bieber wouldn't even be a pimple on these guys asses.... Tubes rule!!

  • The song is cool, but volume is not. Maybe the provider (VEVO) can get it louder next. time. AKA thumbs down, ruled a technical. :(

  • the legend that is Fee Waybill and the Tubes was born with this video. It became very famous on MTV in the early 80s.

  • The lead singer reminds me of Eugene Levy. That's pretty much what he looked like around this time.

  • @raypowersmusic Fee Waybill is the most notable member of the band. He's sung on some tribute albums... I believe, the ones Bob Kulick orchestrated. He's the brother of KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick

  • I love the bridge that leads into the chorus...the harmonies are beautiful...:)

  • What kind of sunglasses is the guitarist wearing at 56 seconds? Are they gargoyles?

  • Comment removed

  • @KuistiTV There's a better shot at 1:24. They look like Ray-Ban Wayfarers to me. And 1:31. Definitely Wayfarers.

  • @StormsongK thanks!

  • Great song....I miss good fun rock n roll.

  • "It's been 6 months...she hasn't shut up once" CLASSSIC!!!!!!!!!

  • did steve lukather play that solo?? i can hear it, now. kind of makes sense:-)

  • @serpikris yeah, i think that's lukather on this one. i'm not sure if he played anywhere else on the album ...

  • @mrblitz00 Oh yeah, it's Luke!

  • Completion Backward Principle....great party album!!! 2 much funn..........:)

  • This song kiks ass in so many ways!

  • Back when MTV was actually music!!!!! Love it!!!!

  • This is another example of the Completion Backwards Principal. If you can possibly manage the time please listen to both sides at one sitting

  • I've always loved this song. Lots of energy. Great cut from an awesomely talented bunch!!!

  • Guitar on the album by Steve Lukather.....a brilliant combination of guys. Tubes ROCK!

  • I remember seeing Fee dressed as a Quaalude...reminded me of the kids in high school with their "Lemmon 714" tee shirts.

  • He used to come on stage dressed as a giant Quaalude for one song. Now that's entertainment.

  • written by fee, bill spooner and steve lukather.bitchin' solo by luke. produced by david foster. awesome!!

  • I'm seeing them in a couple os nights - wow! I still have my LP of this. Yes, that LP!!!

  • i'm going to see them in spokane

  • The Tubes are the best, Man! This song was one of their best. Great Video!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! I love Youtube for posting all my fav''s!! ROCK ON TUBES!!!

  • Damn good catchy 80's rock tune!

  • What a kick-ass song! I had forgotten how good Fee and the group was. Great to see!

  • Brilliant band, brilliant song.

  • Awsome song..
