i had the pleasure of spending my 18th birthday, 1985, on the side of the stage watching these guys perform, thanks to Cheryl Hangland, one of the dancers, who grew up two blocks from me. I did a story on her at our High School, and how convenient the upcoming concert would be on MY 18th! I got to go on stage as a prop, too. BEST BDAY EVER. THANKS Fee, Prairie, and Cheryl!

In early 1976, my Junior year of HS, our chorus attended a festival at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS. Several of the other ornery guys and I took my sister's car (she was there in college) and drove around looking for the dirtiest magazine we could find. I bought a 'High Society', which turned out to be their very first issue, and inside was a story about "The Tubes" (yes, I looked at ALL the pictures - ha!). I always feel a bit naughty when I hear their songs because of that.
@manhunter86 Right your are 86....in fact they were on 2 times, saw them later here in Philly, and we were hanging out after the show, and I brought that up,they said they had a great time doing the shows....How could you not, with the SCTV guys+gals....You stay Cool man..... Jimi :-)
@HippieJimi That's funny....I saw The Tubes in Pittsburgh in the summer of '85. I caught Vince W. by the tour bus and brought up that episode of SCTV (the first one, in 1981). He also said it was a blast.

@HippieJimi Actually, while the Tubes may have recorded their bits for their SCTV appearance on two separate occasions, the band only appeared on Episode #86...which first aired July 24, 1981 (and re-aired several times after). Both "Sushi Girl" and "Talk to Ya Later" are contained within that episode. Fans of the band, or the classic TV show, should pick up the DVD's. (The Tubes episode is on Volume One). They're kind of pricey though.

Yea I know they will come after me but I'm sick of this crap.

MrQuad .. this isn't old music this is when musicians actaully were playing music and trying to make it as a band.
Now its rap and the rap csars that are laundering the crack money through false sales.. you think Z sold 9 million albums? ....
hahahh just burn those albums (if they were ever really made) and say he did then put the money in the bank.
Are you kids that retarded? Crack rappers took over the industry to launder the drug money.
and the biz guys take their cut and allow it.
