I went to Planned Parenthood with a woman looking for support when she was pregnant. Despite her repeatedly telling them she wanted to keep the baby we were subjected to an hour of lecutres about how that baby would ruin our lives, wasn't really human yet, and how abortion was the only smart option. They offered no help, only tried to make her feel stupid for wanting to keep her baby.

How are you all missing the point? Planned Parenthood's primary services are CONTRACEPTION services. Not abortion services. They also offer sex education and, yes, they do offer access to parenting classes and family support through other non-profit organizations they are associated with. Her point isn't that you should get an abortion rather than have a baby. The point is that they offer invaluable services to PREVENT unplanned pregnancies for low income women.

I was poor growing up -- we ate ramen in the dark with heavy blankets because our electricity was off all the time . This made me 1) trust in the Lord for my daily bread 2) a hard worker 3) self sufficient. I got a great education (which I paid for by myself) and I have a GREAT career. guess what lady, I grew up eating those things, even powdered mild, and bread broken up in a bowl for cereal! Guess what... I am HAPPY to be alive! I may have grown up in a poor home, with addicts as parents, but even still, I am HAPPY to be alive!
