  • Thanks for your piece of advise. I agree with you that the wood is not the best idea at those voltages but I haven't got another material to do it (not enough).

  • I used polyethelene - it is rather whitish-transperant. I wish i used polypropelene, which is smoother and clean. I wish u gd luck. Well let the body of ur marx generator be insulated as much as possible! I regreted that i used wood i painted.

  • Sorry," polipropileno" in english is polypropylene.

  • ¡Great job!

I've been making a small marx generator with 16 stages. Here is not easy to get high voltage capacitors or resistors so I decided to make de caps and replace the resistors by coils of 60mH of inductance. The polipropilene capacitors has a value of around 2,5nF@15KV.

Con las bobinas el miltiplicador me ha funcionado muy bien y creo que es mucho más barato que comprar resistores de película metálica de alto valor, aunque lleva bastante más tiempo hacerlo.

    Greetings from Uruguay.

  • Well the value of the homemade capacitors is around 7nF. There are 20 of them!

  • What's the value of the caps?

  • Excellent generator! Those sparks are amazingly big.

I can't wait to built my own.

  • Aw hell! that was killer type blast!

  • nice generator!
