Lol WoW has had no competition so far. I got to say though Rift is fighting a little notice I said a little. Both games are good and have their own good things about them. But until Rift gets better and can compete with WoW let me know. They will both have great updates to make each game better. In my opinion WoW is better but remember that's my opinion not yours. You are correct, WoW did get their style from other MMOs but people reference MMOs potentially as "WoW clones" because WoW is more universal and well known and more people have stuck with WoW as opposed to other MMOs due to the quality of the game. So it's fair to compare new MMOs to WoW because WoW has set a certain standard for an MMO (quality wise) that will live or die.

The whole concept of games "stealing" from other games is redundant. A good (emphasis on good) MMO, like an FPS or RTS or any other game, will always try to improve from the past mistakes of prior games - WoW improved EQ, RIFT improves and in fact refines different aspects of WoW and WAR to make a game that is great for PvP and extremely entertaining for PvE. Sure plenty of people will still love WoW, but this is a new option that is just as good - something the market needs - competition!

1. graphics: they kick ass WoWs ass and you know it

2. talent trees: WoW has 3 for each class. rift has 12, and you have 3 active at a time and 4 combos of those 3 you choose, called roles.

spells: you get spells according to the amount of points you put in a specific tree
