jus pour water in the dry dog food let it set for a few minutes until it gets soft pour n e remaining water off then mx it with some olive oil it really wrks no lie its not a tric cuz mi dad use to do it with ours until it died now we're in the market for 2 dis time
I have a Malemute/Husky cross and she blows coat like this twice a year. 4-6 weeks of it. She's a great dog but damn if the hair isn't enough to drive you crazy.
@inachu "blowing coat" is the term used for huskies shedding during the heaviest shedding periods, where the fluffy coat completely goes crazy and falls put, leaving new, more season appropriate pelage.
I'm actually using a simple rake brush, not a Furminator. We tried a Furminator but didn't like how the fur got pulled out - it almost seemed like it was cutting the fur rather than taking out the loose or "dead" fur. And Mayhem loved getting brushed hard - as you can see in the video, she didn't mind at all (and if we stopped she got mad and would paw us until we started up again!)
Beautiful dog. Glad mine doesnt shed that much when she blows her coat. Yours looks like he likes to be brushed, mine, despises it. I found taking her to the beach or let her in a pool to swim REALLY REALLY helps with her shedding. Not just one dunk underwater but a good hour or so of play.
It depends on where you the climate and where you live. Sometimes the husky will actually shed year round, but in their normal environment (i.e., alaska, siberia) they'll tend to just blow their coat twice a year.
Anyhow, do you know if she's using a rake? Like what is the best tool to use when they're blowing their coat?
I use a shedding comb. It has a slightly longer handle and really long teeth. You just have to go slow and be patint while working through the fur. My pup hates it, but gets treats afterward. ;0)
My husky doesn't let me brush her for shit, unless she is eating.

@alleyr It pulls the dead hair out. Maybe you're doing it wrong?

Ha! Looks very familiar. I always tell people that if they can just tolerate (and learn to manage) the shedding, Sibes are the perfect dog.

it will come out on its own, but it will get all over your house, your clothes, you food... everywhere. its better to just brush it out.
Theteaza 3 years ago
now, if you didn't do that, wouldn't the fur just come out on its own? what would actually happen if you didn't brush it out?
fresh420 3 years ago
Oh my God.... I never know huskies could shed fur that much! However, they're still my favorite breed. Say 'hi' to your husky for me please. :)

Yes, this one looooves to be brushed. Our other one won't let us even come near him with any kind of grooming equipment - he detests being brushed!
