  • Here is the English translation for the chant:

    Here comes a lion, Father

    Oh yes, it's a lion

    We're going to conquer

A lion and a leopard come to this open place

  • the begining of the soun is a mans son warning him a lion is approaching

  • I wonder how much time The Lion King has left on Broadway. I hope, at least, a few more years. It is the best show I have ever viewed :)

  • Does someone have a full performance from the earlier days of TLK with Tsidi performing?

  • or just Tsidi performing Circle of Life?

  • this is amazing!

  • I saw this on march 13,2009 in seattle!!! it was amazing

  • This song is so incredibly beautiful! the broadway musical was absolutely incredible! mind blowing and out of this world! this song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it, it's so powerful and reminds me of a very special family member who was a beautiful! person, and whom this song goes out.

  • I'm seeing it tomorrow for the first time in Seattle..SO excited :D Also, the first time I've been to a broadway show.

  • Is that young Nala as the baby elephant??

  • This song is great, but it's better experienced in a larger theater where the giraffes (which are ingenius costumes) can fit, lol.

  • I LOVE THE LION KING.....<3

  • I LOVE THIS BROADWAY PERIOD!!!! lol the actors are amazing, the costumes are amazing, and everybody has great voices for their parts, especially Rafiki and Nala...I love scars other song, not "Be Prepared"

  • You mean The Madness Of King Scar

  • it's funny to see the differences between the american and german version.

  • I think that too. Both Rafikis are amazing (Tsidi and Velephi)! And I have all recordinghs!

  • I cried when i saw this live as well.

    absolutely incredible!

  • I cried when I saw this scene on Broadway... it was just so beautiful!!!!

  • wow the begining is so powerful

  • MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!!

  • Ever since I saw the animated movie when I was like 10 or so when it came out in 1994 I fell in love with it. I also adore the African music :D oh man I'm seeing this in 2 weeks Nov. 15 :D I live 2hrs from NYC. I cant wait! I LOVE THE MOVIES! I LOVE BROADWAY

  • possiably the only musical I have ever liked. Imaginative, and based off of my favorite movie. This son absolutly gives me the shivers. It's just amazing how well it's sung.

  • i lovelovelove this show. i would kill to be rafiki! :D

  • if only a dude could be a Rafiki too i have a good voice for this

  • i want to c this SO bad!!!

  • I saw it in Kansas City. It was a horrible venue. The Music Hall is a horrible horrible theatre, small stage and horrible acoustics. They didn't even have enough space to build the desired stage for the production (the plants could not rise from the floor and the back could not form a lift semi-circle) .. disappointing. The high-light was when the elephant fell walking up the stairs during the opening. It sat there for a few seconds while everyone else just went on with the performance.

  • are you serious!! great we have tickets to go in November. Most everything here is small. Saw Celtic woman at the Sprint center and they didn't have much room to dance around.

  • We went opening night .. so, maybe they still hadn't worked the kinks out. The timing was still a bit off, with the sets being removed before another scene started. I had never been to the Music Hall before -- we are from Omaha -- and yeah .. it wasn't what I was expecting .. but, I am sure come November, they will be comfortable with the stage and all the space available :) Enjoy.

  • Are you kidding? I happen to be from Kansas City. Born and raised. Still live there today. I'm thirteen. I just saw it about two weeks ago, October 7th. It was amazing. The Music Hall is almost as old as the city, i think. Also, have you ever been backstage? I think not. My dance school performes there every year for our dance recital. The backstage is large, and amazing. You have no idea what you are talking about. Go back to wherever you came from. If you don't like my city, WHY DID U COME?

  • Again, I went opening night. They were still working the kinks out of the production. The microphones were not all working, the set timing was off and the elephant fell (which can happen during any performance). Yes, I went backstage and met the cast and crew of the production .. very nice people. Just because I did not like the Music Hall does not mean I do not like Kansas City, idiot. I came because 'The Lion King' did such a great job in Omaha .. The Music Hall is drab and boring.

  • who peed in your cornflakes?!

  • what? no one peed in my cornflakes

  • How do they do that?

  • With a blaze of imagination.

  • i watched this in new york... beautiful!

  • OMG IT IS LEBO M...I just now noticed that. They could never do a production of the Lion King without him because he embodies the spirit of that story and the spirit of the music period

  • Which one is Lebo M?

  • I think he's the antillope at 0:38.

  • Thanks

  • It IS beautiful. Although, nothing compares to seeing it on the live stage. Extraordinary!! Best ever.

  • beautiful

  • 00:16 - Lebom M !!! He rules!!!

  • I mean LebO M

  • got tickets to see this in November! omg, I cannot wait!!!!!!

  • Where are you seeing it? I am seeing it for the 3rd time this October in Kansas City. I saw it in Omaha and on Broadway .. such a great experience.

  • WOW! You must be proud of yourself!

  • Not really .. I didn't pay for any of the trips .. so, pride would belong to my family. I'm a giving person :)

  • beautiful, i want to see it live

  • i love tsidii le loka (original rafiki). she was the best.

  • the german version sounds pretty good, but doesn't equal the english cast at any point!

nevertheless the performance in hamburg is phantastic - hope i can see it again in some weeks if my budget allows another flight ;-)

  • beautiful, i want to see it live

  • I am not a huge fan of broadway or shows but seeing this live was incredible...if you head to N.Y. take in a show, this one or any other

  • You can get tickets because I come them and I am going to see it.

  • I saw this live on Broadway. It was an Amazing show and i don't know if u can still get tickets to see it but if u can i REALLY reccomend going to see it

  • beautiful, i want to see it live

  • I am seeing it again in October .. in Kansas City this time .. private box in the center .. can't wait.

  • oh my good. i saw it live. FUCK, it was amazing.

  • it must be hard to go from a large stage to a studio stage! one of my dreams is to see it live!

  • Im Going to see THE LION KING IN KANSAS CITY MO AT THE MUSIC HALL IN OCTOBER

  • i saw this on broadway when i was 9 years old. i saw the matinee performance and i was seeing phantom of the opera that same night, which i couldnt stop thinking about cuz its been my fave musical since i was 5. but looking back at this, now almost 18 years old, i have chills. i hope to attend NYU for college and i want to have my graduation present next summer be a trip to new york to see my fave shows: phantom, wicked and now, lion king.

    so amazing

  • You'll never regret seeing this. It's an incredible experience - especially the beginning. The dances, the music, the rhytm - the incredible costumes. Saw it twice in a week - and I would have seen it again if it hadn't left Tampa. GO!

  • The Costumes Are Amazing

I have no seen the broadway show, but if I ever go somewhere where it is playing, or if it comes to my town, I am so going

  • be prepared to have to buy your tickets way ahead of time. It is SO amazing. We had floor seats but I think we bought them like a year in advance almost.

  • WAaaa, chills ALL over my bodeh! Absolutely AWEsome.

  • cool i saw this brodway in texas it was amazing

  • Fucking fantastic!

  • wow! wen i saw this on broadway, i had goosebumps like the entire show! i love the lion king!

  • Wow! I never made a second thought to put a comment on this marvelous performance! This is brilliant! A job well done. Oh, I was so amazed. More powers to all of you. :D

    Cheers!

  • the rams have sticks to represent their front legs and the mask on their heads to represent their faces so when the bend down it looks like they are rams.

  • Yet with their mouths open...they look like crocodiles XD

  • the costumes are genius! how lovely i hope i can see this live soon.

  • this was added on me birthday and this is like my fav song EVER!!!so thats like awesome

this is such a good video. :]

  • I love this song. specially the way they do it. :-D

  • Who are the guys with sticks and a weird horned animal hat thing?

  • They're most likely the animals on their heads, like everyone else in the show.

  • This is not the same LIon King show that I saw. They sound tired. The Lion King show that I saw was sooooo breathtaking!!!

  • you didn't see the broadway version, because this is the broadway cast, there just on the rosie show

  • :O)

  • didn't Jason Raize play Mufasa? or does he play older Simba?

  • he played the older simba. and did a great job of it too. im sad that he isnt around anymore =( oh well, my he rest in peace

  • they are like real enthusiastic and professional in this scene..i mean if this was a preview hell yeah id watch the broadway...which i did lmao

  • absolutely brilliant. I saw this in London. I was amazed. A must-see. Any age.

  • omg i fekin loved this show i went to see 5 musicals wen i was in new york in january and i think this and mary poppins were my faviroute although the otheres were spectacular but this was just immense xxx

  • oooohhh i bloomin love it. gives me shivers up me spine.

  • Ah, I wish that opening was five times as long.

  • this was one of the most amazing broadways ive seen, made me want to cry and gave me goosebumps the entire time, it was incredible

  • Me too Me too!

    The entire show is breathtaking!

  • this song everytime i listen to it makes me cry!! aaahhhh sooo freaking awesome!!! beautiful!

  • yoru just saying that because you do not no anything about broadway and you proably dont no how to sing and broadway beast your face

  • this isn't the broadway show, and there usually better, this is a great musical, it won 8 tony awards

  • This is the broadway cast, though.

  • you are wierd

  • It's probably a off-day. They sing this like 8-10 times a week. Everyone's allowed an off-day, right? And personally, it is music. It's influenced by a vastly different culture than yours, most likely. This is also not the best version I've heard. See it live instead of a low quality Youtube video and THEN judge.

  • Did Jason Raize play Mufasa and older Simba at the same time?

  • No, Jason only played the older Simba. He originated the role and kept the part for almost 3 years. He really threw himself into the role and many people consider him the best Simba.

  • Is that Tshidii Manye or Tsidii LeLoka?

  • Tsidii leloka

  • sorry...gosh my mistake...who really cares i think you got what i ment either way..

  • god i would hate to go from an enormaous stage to an extreamly small studio stage...it would be so differnt and limited movability
