What if the bass liked other basses? Maybe like quicksand on a traintrack, broken backed and full of spunk. With a tongue to speak with and a head full of random junk... Who's to say, it never liked you anyways. But with a terrible crash and handfuls to match, why ask, why tell. Go to hell. Colon End Parentheses
so I don't speak great french, but I'm pretty damn sure that this song is just a bunch of randomness when translated into english... that or it's like just random names of various places like Marseille (and a few others that I know of) and obviously Lafayette and Detriot... either way, really awesome song. :)
i LOVE 'steady as she goes', it's one of the best songs this century.(so far)
and get this. isaw a two man group ..long time ago
and i was absolutely blown away, his records were as good too.
lee michaels, organ and drummer, and there is nothing for me worse than a damn organ playing in a rock band...(one exception,,,the doors,,,but,,,just that one.)
as i said, jack is above and beyond cool, with it, and a great carrier of the torch of lead guitarist. i just felt, the albums lacked depth.
@CHUCKLOVES1969 depth? no sir, youre thinking of "Bass Guitars".. perhaps if its that kind of depth your looking for you might try something thats, idk, not written by a minimalist?
@CHUCKLOVES1969 That's because its garage rock and he appreciated the lo-fi sound. The White Stripes' debut self-titled album tells a lot of that lo-fi sound. But great genius at guitar!
@steven8807 ...i get it. it's kinda like saying 'hey kids' if i can do it with just 2. so can U!!.so lets rock. it's just for me, who was there an couldn't believe the power an force behind the punk scene when it first came out,,and i mean in the 70's.like the germs, cramps, iggy etc.,it's just that to get ur message out, as hardcore as it was, u need full sound quailty. i totally get jack an his theory on his own music,,and steady as she goes,,is my kinda full sound, he did 4 me...an my needs.
@CHUCKLOVES1996 i see your point, but it just wouldnt be the white stripes with a bass player. if you want more from jack white, try the raconteurs. they have more people and instruments.
@CHUCKLOVES1969 I think you're missing the point a bit. If you want to hear Jack with a full band, listen to The Raconteurs or The Dead Weather or any of his other projects. The White Stripes, however, are a venue for rawness and minimalism, especially in the first half of their catalog. Just enjoy what it is.
@CHUCKLOVES1969 Agree with the other people. He has played with so many bigger bands, go check them out if Meg & Jack aren't doing it for you. While I love all of Jack's bands my heart is a huge ol' peppermint.
@sparkytrick ur right, you're all right. i now understand. jack does not care about being on billboard top 100.
he wants to play with meg, and that's the fact....jack. see i grew-up with minimalist bands like Cream, or Blue Cheer, among others, and they had an incredible full high fidelity quality to their sound. that's what i'm use to hearing....and the music has to be pretty damn good on top of it too. i just find the minimalist sound...ahhh,, minimal?..and not a serious contender.
@54321FUCKYOU2 because he doesn't try to be better then anyone else. he does his thing, and he's damn good at it, because he makes no competition, he has no competition, therefore he is the best.
The single did sale for $18,000 and jack white acted as the middle man for the sale, it was one of the first 15 released because of delay in printing sleeve so 15 were hand painted by Buick and white then at the time in 1999 they were sold for $6.
@bobbelibob lol basically i was saying im turning the vollume up on ma guitar and amp fuckin loud when i play this .. well come to think of it i did that ages ago now lol
@WinkingNinja The White Stripes B-Side Collection, it's a 2 CD compilation of many songs by TWS. Some rare songs, some known songs played live, and many songs from singles.

i totally think jack is one of those incredible thinkers who breaks out of all the norms.
but i can not get over the fact how limited the overall sound is...
it's like he's rehearshing and waiting for the rest of the band to show up.
i'm sorry...but so much can be done with so little,,i get it,,,i really do.
but music is about fullness and quality.....not kinda singularly showing off.
look....i know, iknow ur gonna give me shit..but he could be that much better with, maybe a bass player?..huh?
